We need to call out manufacturers on their bias towards Intel more loudly and more often. Or just vote with our wallets if possible. PS: Josh, your more casual, relaxed style of presenting in the field suits you. You should consider incorporating it into your studio videos.
It's not bias if there is money involved. By going with Intels track record of unlawful competition there must be some kind of "incentive" system going on, which means they are paying laptop manufacturers (e.g. offering heavily discounted processors below asking price/market value) to keep the high end laptops only with Intel processors to fool the uninformed buyer into thinking that Intel = best.
OEMs are probably a bit fed up with the AMD supply chain, which has been a mess for a few years. I can understand why they are reticent in going all-in on AMD. Maybe if AMD improves this year, things may change next year.

Hey Josh, pardon me as I know this is outside the scope of this video, but I wanted to ask if you'd look at the HP Elitebook Ultra G1i. I don't think it's getting much coverage because it's a "business" laptop, but it appears to check every box for a fantastic consumer laptop. I'd be ecstatic if you could get one in the studio for review.
It's disappointing to see some of you guys gloss over the Intel models getting best GPUs, especially that 5 Pro AMD vs Intel discrepancy in both class and wattage.
To me and my use for a laptop, Lenovo has no competitors. They are a bit boring, but so well made. My next one (Lenovo Yoga pro 7 now) is definitely the 9 pro ultra.
It is so disappointing that AMD laptops are getting skimped on the GPUs compared to intel laptops. The fact that the AMD version if the Legion Pro 5 gets a tier less of graphics is ridiculous dispite them being in the same chassis.
It is business. If Intel is offering to buy all the higher-end graphic cards, then you can understand why this has happened. I am sure Nvidia is earning more financially by doing so.
Why do Ryzen configs keep getting shafted on the GPU side? I know in some cases they cite a thermal limitation, but AMD variants always seem to come out cooler in your testing, so what exactly is stopping ASUS or Lenovo from pairing it with a 5070ti or 5080 in some models?
The redmagic phones had the camera bellow the screen and it seems like the tech is there. They just need to implement it well. WIll be a nightmre for maintenence though :(
I have seen a preview which showed the quality, and it sucks. Really awful, and I could get rid of the camera and include a plug-and-play one rather than having one that is so bad. Also, for people who cover the camera then, it makes it impossible. Poor choice is really only for people who value form over function.

I don't buy the Thinkpad due to its trackpad and red knob. I will now rethink my choices; now they have gotten rid of this ancient design. A haptic trackpad is 100 times better; once you try it, you will understand.
@@andyH_EnglandYou aren't the target for ThinkPads. They diluted the ThinkPad brand when they already have ThinkBooks that don't have them. Also, haptic touchpads are good, but ONLY have done well. Like Apple.
I hate Lenovo for removing the ips option from the ideapad pro 5i. I would definitely buy it with a QHD+ IPS display but only the OLED model is available to buy. 😢
Intel bribery is strong this year, every manufacturer offering gimped AMD versions even though the AMD processors are simply better in use. Seems like Intel has fallen right back to their old habits and needs another lawsuit to remind them to engage in fair competition.
If a company comes up to you and says it will pay you 10% more for your widgets than other buyers, you will be a fool not to. It is not bribery, it is paying top dollar to secure the best graphic cards.
@@andyH_England But Intel isn't the one who is building the laptops (or buying as you said), Asus, Lenovo etc. are. They are like "Hey guys, we need this thing called CPU to finish our laptop, who has got some to sell?" and Intel is like "We've got some for you, even for a lower than our regular market price, but you need to make your products with competitors CPUs worse". That's straight up antitrust stuff right there. Bribing the manufacturers (by offering outlandishly cheap CPUs with the condition to harm the competitor) in order to distort fair competition to gain/hold market share that they wouldn't get if their products would actually compete with their own merits.
@anomuumit Intel and Nvidia work closely with OEMs, so they are all in an incestuous relationship, and the blame game is difficult to apportion. Either way, Intel, as usual, dictated the Windows market, and AMD had to take whatever was left.
I agree, especially for office work. Gamers may prefer OLED because of its fast response, and it is better for those who mainly watch media. Otherwise, a quality miniLED or IPS still works better for my eyes.

Because it's not worth it at all. It has nothing over the 2024 model and obly goes up to the RTX 5070. It's not worth it at all.
why not consider it a thinkbook pro if it doesn't have a trackpoint, isn't that the same idea but with a different name?
Is there going to any sale in the future?
I was hoping for buying a gaming laptop of lenovo.
I don't use the TrackPoint but do use the buttons
Maybe if AMD improves this year, things may change next year.
what about slim 5 ?
waiting for the Yoga book 9i with dual 18" screens 😀
Hi Josh, Glad to hear you had a great time at CES! Can't wait for your reviews! Any information on ThinkBook 16P Gen 6 refresh. Also Any info on when the next batch of laptops are set to launch?
They still haven't launch those accessories that attach to the back of the screen.
Whats the starting price of legion pro 7i
Josh, could you please check out the HP ZBook Ultra 14 G1a. That machine looks really good.
will you review the yoga slim 7i aura edition with 14 inch and oled display?
What about the yoga 7i aura gen 10 any news on that
Hi Josh, i tried on of your links from your website for a Lenovo idea pad....but the link took me to a US site (im from AUS) ... so felt like i couldn't get the the affiliated perks
Yes all good. Thanks for trying. We are expanding the website next year for more regions
We may try this year. It depends on bandwidth
@@JustJoshTech Excellent. Perhaps you'll run into one at CES. I appreciate you responding.
@@JustJoshTech That would be great. I also think it's the most interesting laptop announced this year.
Legion 7i?
what about slim 5
Nothing. Razer just happens to be rhe only brand Intel couldn't bribe.
Hello Josh,I could use some help on buying a new laptop come mid February 15th . I am going to have a budget around $1,500 maybe $1,600 top.I looking for a laptop for gaming, watching movies ,TH-cam and browsing the web.I need at least a 16 inch screen or bigger if possible and at least a core 9 or 7 with a GPU 4060 or 4070,I would like to have one that has upgradeable memory and storage.I also like to have it with RGB lighting the keyboard and just under the front side under keyboard. Yes I no I just like RGB Effects on a laptop ..Laptops I do like and been looking at are the Asus Rog Strix series,Acer Predator Helios and the Lenovop , I no I asking for a lot but if you can give suggestions that would be awesome.Thank You Clarence
No Legion Slim 5 14 :/
6:45 I 100% disagree. There was the ThinkBook range they could put this on and they chose to and combined with all of the other bad decisions Lenovo has done with the range recently, Lenovo has lost it.
I almost want to yell this at Josh and tell him off in person because of this! 😂
Ha ha. I knew you guys would hate it
I don't buy the Thinkpad due to its trackpad and red knob. I will now rethink my choices; now they have gotten rid of this ancient design. A haptic trackpad is 100 times better; once you try it, you will understand.
@andyH_England I have tried both. I prefer the TrackPoint.
@@andyH_EnglandYou aren't the target for ThinkPads. They diluted the ThinkPad brand when they already have ThinkBooks that don't have them.
Also, haptic touchpads are good, but ONLY have done well. Like Apple.
eh, at the end hoped you will tell this unofficial update was legion slim 14
Where is the Legion 7 Gen 10?
Not announced
I wish they'd give the 9i a new chassis and ditch the numpad. It seems to be great value but it's just so extremely ugly holy cow
Brother please more review about yoga 9i 2 in 1 aura edition ❤
Same here. I am very interested in buying that one. They finally put the charging port on both sides and has 32 GB of RAM.
We are getting it in asap
So the X9 isn't a faster, cooler, AMD-capable "X1-Carbon line" (since INTC has exclusivity rights to "X1")? 😞 Shame
I hate Lenovo for removing the ips option from the ideapad pro 5i. I would definitely buy it with a QHD+ IPS display but only the OLED model is available to buy. 😢
Sadly, good IPS panels are becoming rarer.
@andyH_England yup. Manufacturers has jumped straight to oled from crappy ips and tft options as it will make them more money in the long run.
Intel is so ahead this generation in mobile. They are the best in battery, performance and thermal for PCs
NOOOOO THE THINKPAD NIPPLE :(:(:(:(:(
Why hasn't Lenovo refreshed the Legion 5 14" yet. Disappointed.
new intel and amd chip reviews where?
Intel bribery is strong this year, every manufacturer offering gimped AMD versions even though the AMD processors are simply better in use. Seems like Intel has fallen right back to their old habits and needs another lawsuit to remind them to engage in fair competition.
It's pretty much just Razer whose keeping AMD!
If a company comes up to you and says it will pay you 10% more for your widgets than other buyers, you will be a fool not to. It is not bribery, it is paying top dollar to secure the best graphic cards.
@@andyH_England 🤡
@Joseph, did you hear any rumors about the legion 5 14 inch getting updated this year? L take on the think pad nip tho no offense lol
No TrackPoint?
No care.
Mini Led > ips > oled
I agree, especially for office work. Gamers may prefer OLED because of its fast response, and it is better for those who mainly watch media. Otherwise, a quality miniLED or IPS still works better for my eyes.
I have a yoga pro 9i 2024, and intel ultra 9 185h inside is terrible: poor performance, fan noise, no battery, hdmi minor issues. On the other side, there are amd zen 5, still crushing intel new gen. I wouldn't advice people to get that intel laptop just for that.
damn legion ruined there line, there Slim 5 / Slim 7 was best design laptop 2022 / 2023. Looks like I'm moving to different brand
no legion 7 amd. again. like does Lenovo even listen to people this year?
A Thinkpad without trackpoint is blasphemy
That aint a thinkpad, thats a ThinkTosh, or a MacPad, or an ApplePad, or a ThinkPle.
