i got both. the staccato does have a higher quality out the box but i’m not gonna lie they shoot almost identically. and the 1000 dollar difference between a the dpo and the prodigy means something. spending an extra $250 on egw and atlas guide rod does make me prefer the prodigy. and now you can find prodigy for less than 1300 brand new so that’s an extra $200 you save. people looking for a 2011 really should consider it.
I have both. I had issues with the Prodigy with failure to load and extract. I had to take a new gun to my gunsmith to fix it. He actually had to replace parts. The internals are MIM, and he fabricated new parts. Springfield has fixed the issue as of August 2023. My Stacatto P is just so refined and fast. Neither beats my HAyes Custom. A number of new 2011s will be released soon. The prodigy is a great gun, and as time goes you will be able to refine it. No matter what, just go out and shoot!
Great video sir! I have both a tricked out Staccato C2 (~$3500) and a Prodigy (~$1400) as well. I shoot weekly, unless work gets in the way and have about 500rds through both. The following is just my personal opinions and preferences. The fit and finish of the C2 is definitely better, but to the point of the cost difference...not worth it. My Prodigy suffered the same issues as all the first batches with the battery and feeding issues. I sent it to Springfield and they tuned it and it runs perfectly. Springfield customer service was amazing and I had it back in about 2 weeks. Interestingly enough, my C2 had to be shipped back after 20rds, due to a faulty Plunger Detent (that's what they told me). I'd fire a round and then when I pulled the trigger for the second, the hammer would go to the half-cock position. To be honest, I was a little put off that I had to send a ~$3500 firearm back after 1 magazine. That being said, Staccato customer service was awesome and I had it back in 5 days. This just goes to show that paying more for a firearm doesn't make it immune to defects. For me the slide action on the C2 is slightly better then the Prodigy, but I actually like the grip texture of the Prodigy over the C2. My advice to someone looking for a 2011 is to shoot both and get whichever fits you the best.
@4:23 guns that are bigger have lighter recoil springs which makes them "feel" a lot smoother, But if you ever rack a slide on a Nighthawk for example even the commander & officer frames feel a lot more smoother than a 5 inch production 1911's because of the hand blending!
I picked up my prodigy up last year and I’m starting to get that itch.Im not going to lye I’m looking at the Staccato P.Im just in love with that 2011 platform, its so damn sexy 🇺🇸
I believe the Staccato does not take the Prodigy mags. The reason you have to give it yhat extra push to get it to seat is because it is hitting against the extractor. Over time it will mess up the internals of the firearm. There are a few videos out there on it. Check it out. Just ordered a Staccato P and am very much considering the Prodigy as a later purchase. 😊
P = Truly accurate pistol w/iron sights offhand out to 70 yards in my case. Maybe Prodigy can do that too, I don't have one so I can say. But, good luck trying that with a Glock/other striker fired gun.
I had a horrible experience with the (initial release) Prodigy. I understand they have fixed all those issues now. However, I will never trust a company again that makes its customers act as Beta testers. My P has been flawless over thousands of rounds. YMMV.
My custom prodigy is a softer way better shooter than the XC like way better. So, getting the cheaper prodigy and going custom makes sense atleast to me it worked well.
I don't know where people are getting these prices for the staccato. The website has everything for around 3500 to 4k. With tax and accessories it's well over 4k. Even at authorized dealers the cheapest I've seen is 3100. My prodigy cost 1475 with the dragonfly optic. That was tax and all. 5in version as well. So it's more than half the cost of the STi. Or sorry staccato.

Same here , I got both , honestly?? My prodigy shoots better , Atlas Gide rod and EGW internals … way better shooter than my Stacatto P
Then there is the question which one retains more of its value? I am assuming its the Staccato.
@@Monster.86 I dont see how it can be "better". The Stacatto or older STI are as good as it gets.
@@DJ369-Miami less recoil , same accuracy , shoots more flat, in other words: BETTER

Do you trust the Prodigy enough to recommend I buy it?
In my mind the prodigy is like a n AR that comes with budget internals. You replace them and then you have a really good gun

Good review. I ordered a Staccato CS couple months ago and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
Buy once, cry once. The Staccato P is amazing. I have the. DPO (Optic Cut) DLC Barrel, and Slide Serrations. This thing stacks them at 20 yards.
Staccato P can be optic ready but he bought the one that is not
Thanks Tyler! I found out after the review!

I got my Stacatto P dpo for $2600
@roadblock1963 is jt new because he is right 3500 to 4k on the site.
@wendellhatcher7011 Yeah it's new. I got it from my LGS. I guess it varies from state to state. The only Stacatto's at 3500 are the XC and the XL.
Springfield junk mine has been back 2 times and it still has issues
