Looks like you need to carry about a lot of details. The precise length of the rope, the attachment point, the side of the rope, the angle of the cut, the overall length of the branch, those massive heavy branches comming swinging back... lots of details. If the rope was shorter the branch could have hit you. If your legs where on the other side of the tree, the rope would have cut your legs.. Leave this to pros

Amazing job. One quick tip. Whenever you are out on a limb, make sure to either undercut underneath the main cut, or if you want it to tear, undercut several inches from the main cut. I got myself pinned to an oak branch when an oak branch tore and pulled on my lanyard. I had to cut my lanyard with my saw (cut through the fabric, couldn't cut the the steel with my handsaw). With the fabric sheath cut through, and some movement of still partially attached limb from the ground, I was able to get unstuck. If I had made 1 or 2 inch undercut, it never would have happened.
What does a job like that cost man! My daughter has one just like it. I think its a live oak though. Its must be 5 or 6 ft at the base with gynormous, thick heavy limbs going out over her house and the neighbors.
@RC-Heli835 Oh man, I don't even remember what I charged for this. I've done so many trees since I can't remember. A lot of it depends on your local market and how many tree services there are in your area and how hard they compete for work. Access, size, weight of the tree hazard factor, and location relative to a dump site all contribute to the price, too. I'd suggest getting 2-3 estimates from reputable companies and try to get someone who genuinely care about caring for the property rather than making a quick buck. The cheapest guys are usually the most dangerous.
Yeah, my laugh may have been motivated by nervousness. Anxiety is a very large reason for laughter in a number of situations. If you're not willing to take risks, you'll never benefit from taking risks.
This is not always true. There are instances where a pendulum can increase its total swing distance. It's often found in physics outside of the high-school classroom.
@NewLeaf1-zs4sy ah, I wish I knew someone over there to send your way. I have a guy in the Pittsburg area, but I don't think he will go that far. I'll ask him and get back to you.
This was early early on in my career and the bottom line was that I was scared. Some of the limbs were loaded and we couldn't pretension the enough to keep the stub from jumping when the tip came off. I didn't want to be slapped around with a chainsaw in my hands.
8:16 your groundsman had me scared! that thing swung kinda close. overall amazing job brother. taking down a pine tree today and these oaks make pines look one dimensional lol
Lol, it feels that way sometimes. It may not be visible in many of the shots, but I always keep an overhead rope tied to the highest point of the tree.

@@selfemployed1338 They do peel. I didn't make enough under-cut on a branch and it ripped down and it pinned my lanyard, pulling me into the tree. I had to cut my steel-core lanyard and have my ground guy lift up a bit on the branch to free me.
I like the idea of using the steel snap rather than tying a knot on every branch. Have you ever had a rope break because of the crease the snap makes in the rope? Have you ever had a limb slip out? Appreciate the feed back, thanks for the vid.
Nope, I've never broken a rigging rope or had a branch slide out. If you're worried about over loading the snap or the knot its tethered with, a half hitch on the limb reduces the stress on both. Snap also has a bit of weight to it which makes it easier to toss around.

It takes too long for sure. This video was from early on and I have since collected a few rigging ring slings and also an ultra sling or two to help speed things up. My first dead eye slings were homemade.
I felt little dizzy while I am watching. It is hard job.
It's hard when you're first learning, but after some practice, it get a little easier 😊

I seen lots of tag lines. 2 groundies is awesome in tight quarters especially when your span rigging, very minimal swinging action

3:39. That’s some great positive reinforcement. Still, it can’t swing back to you as far as you are. Physics.
This is not always true. There are instances where a pendulum can increase its total swing distance. It's often found in physics outside of the high-school classroom.
I like to put another block next to where I'm cutting to help control the amount of swing the rigging has in it
Certainly not a terrible idea. I have done similar things before, just takes more time to set up.
Rather take the time then have the cost to repair the house
Sure thing, I'm a big advocate for "rather be safe than sorry", but I'm also an advocate getting as much done with as little as possible.
