Strategy that engages the mind. Each mission can be played several times, without boredom. Just as much fun to be red as well as blue. Glossy finnish- really great print quality. Hence the high price. Friend (huge fan of WH40k) bought the game despite the price. He borrowed it to our civil association to play it (so far 7 members played it, multiple times, loved it) so we were thinking of making some sort of tournament to see, who is the best strategist :) P.S. did you glued those two-piece Genestealers? They are constantly falling apart :(
I agree with a few folks here, ignoring the current state of GW, I find Space Hulk to be an absolute blast! I bought the 3rd edition on release, I never owned the older ones, and my group and I got a ton of mileage out of this game! Before I quit 40K, I used all the miniatures for my armies, forgot they were there and later sold my armies. I was pretty stoked this game was reprinted so I could get a copy again!
If I recall (yeah, it's been awhile), Space Marines are trying to recover lost technology from these space hulks because they don't know how to build the "old" technology anymore or its considered heretical. That's what happens when you worship a Machine God, I suppose :p. I remember playing this in college.... good times.
Seriously great quality game. Forget about the GW haters this is a classic! So glad I preordered from GW. I got mine in Australia and got a bonus Space Hulk print, check your post packaging before you throw it out!
Sweet Jebus! Good catch, I just found mine! I'm glad the box was the perfect size for another game I'm trading soon, otherwise I would have thrown it out right away. Thanks!
Space Hulk reached number 6 on the BGG ranking in 2009. Then came the GW/BGG meltdown (GW demanding BGG to remove the files associated with their games), lots of people rating GW games a 1 as a reaction, and SH dropping outside the top 200 in a couple of months. It would be ranked much higher otherwise.

The game is solid but I dont think it will blow you away. People buy it for the fantastic minis. Its a delight for painters.
There is also a lot of nostalgia connected to this game for a lot of gamers.

As a 40k fanboy and owner of the 2009 edition, I just think GW should have made an upgrade pack for the owners of the previous ed.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. Wow, I knew about the ratings thing, but I never imagined Space Hulk was that high up at one point. Pretty amazing.
