Ania and Bartek's first egg hatched 2024

In this video, the exciting moment when we could first see the chick on the nest is shown. The egg hatched on the morning of 13th April 2024.
The pair of white storks this nest have been breeding at Knepp as part of the White Stork Project.
The male, Bartek, (GB18) is a rehabilitated bird from Warsaw Zoo in Poland. He has been part of the White Stork Project since 2017. The female, Ania, (GB5B) is also over from Poland and has been with us since 2016.
The first egg was laid by Ania on March 9th in the evening. Eggs were laid every other day up to a total of 4 eggs.
