Videos explains with Examples and analogy
IaaS is Base Layer - Leased Car ( Google compute engine). Deals With virtual machines, Storage, Hard disk, Network etc
PaaS is layer on top of Iaas - Taxi ( Google App Engine ). Java Run Time, Databases, Web Servers, etc
SaaS a layer on top on PaaS - Bus. ( Gmail, Facebook, etc )

We can choose os while creating VM. So if that is the case it is a Paas right not IaaS
