I'm writing a paper on cloud computing for an introductory course on informatics and these videos important cloud concepts from this channel are make a big difference in helping me understand in layman's terms what the course textbook explains using technical terminology. Super helpful, thanks!
Oh my god! Thank you so much for breaking this down the way you did. For the life of me could not understand the difference between PaaS and IaaS for ever now this just summed it up in a way I can hopefully get some questions correct on my practice test for Comptia A +.
Clear concise and definitely the best explanation I've had on PaaS and its relationship with IaaS and SaaS. The Car leasing/renting/taxi-ing metaphor was a huge help, thank you!!!
Very well presented and articulated simply; creative way demonstrating the dependencies, and relationships with clear “pros vs. cons” (ownership/ scalability/ overhead)
In the pro's and con's section that should be emphasis on security and what possible vulnerabilities there are baked into this solution. Not only from a PaaS perspective but from the cloud as a whole. Cloud infrastructure has been subject to various vulnerabilities recently and never seems to be discussed.
VERY nice. Please, consider re-arranging your playlist to include the more traditional topics near the top to be seen earlier rather than later (ex.: Baremetal > IaaS > PaaS > Saas > Faas). The way it is arranged now is inverted. But great videos all in all, thanks a lot.
This is great. Thanks. I have a question - why is performance at scale an issue for PaaS ? I thought that scaling up / down would be one of the biggest advantages of cloud computing, and would be uniform across the different forms of cloud computing. Does the scaling functionality effectiveness differ across the various layers of cloud computing ?
The analogy to the car is probably the best example I have ever seen! Its so precise to the point that even non-technical people can understand these concepts very easily.
Is there a SaaS case outside of the usual consumer case? Ie is there a scenario when a developer or company will pay for SaaS services to leverage the provided data, and apps to build on top of those apps?
She's so good. 5:00 Very truthful. I was expecting some PR crap read off a teleprompter verbatim by someone in the marketing department who doesn't really understand anything. Presently surprised, very fair and on point breakdown.
Wait.. are you writing backwards the whole time or is there some post fx/whiteboard mechanism that allows you to write the normal way and for us to see it as such? I must know! Great Content!
Hi There, A complex technical stuff, you explained it so well with real world examples. Thanks for that. It really helped me understand PAAS so much more better. Good luck with your teachings.
Taking the net+ certification in 2 months and afterwards I plan to prepare for the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification which is the path I plan to pursue in the future
Hi Faizal! You can check our playlist on "Cloud Fundamentals" 👉 ibm.co/3CgjKG4 where we explain several base concepts. We also have specific videos on virtualization 👉 ibm.co/3nzo7rK You can also have a look at the links in this video's description. ⤴️ Hope this helps!
I am three quarters the way through my CompTIA A+ course (looking to change industry and eventually getting some sort of cyber security role)) and needed some extra material to bolster my understanding of cloud computing. I found your explanation on PaaS easy to understand and loved the car analogy! I guess if the computing hardware is on the premises, then that means you own the car? Thanks
what do you mean by app though? Do you mean your'e responsible for developing the applications that will be used on the Paas cloud model? You wouldn't say just be purchasing Third party apps to use on it? Are you also in charge of designing the cloud model?
Concepts are solid, but very linear way of teaching. Intonation of voice plays a great role, when we try to teach something, that makes the audience relate the narrative easily.
i don't like the fact that she gives you a metaphor that isn't related to production environment , instead you get to see a pink car with a poor explanation on how you research before you rent it, really unrelated , she should instead speak about redirects and domains, also type of logins and sso for organization solutions . but again all i need to know is how to rent a car right...
I thought the opening definitions were pretty poor really. Not sure how long she has been doing this stuff… not wrong, just poorly defined. I would expect more from a tier 1 consultancy.
I liked the way you used the car to explain the difference between iaas, paas and saas!
Please keep using more like that; simplicity is the key!
When you are able to explain your stuff to the mass, it means you know your stuff. By miles the best comparison explanation out there. Thank you.
Thank you for the lovely feedback, Nicolas! 🙏

Sat here watching god knows how many of these videos, one after another- to prepare myself for my Exam(s). Very helpful!
Me too! Doing my A+ soon, fingers crossed.
@@x-alias3405 how did you get on?
Are you writing in reverse!?
Oh my god! Thank you so much for breaking this down the way you did. For the life of me could not understand the difference between PaaS and IaaS for ever now this just summed it up in a way I can hopefully get some questions correct on my practice test for Comptia A +.
I realized that the whole time she’s writing backwards. That’s insane! Great info & explanation 🎉
This is one of the first videos I've ever watched without skipping forward. Concise and practical!
That was the best. I came here to understand Paas better, and now I understand Iaas AND Paas better. More from this teacher!
the most brilliant and smart way to explain Saas, Paas, Iaas thanks a million.
Clear concise and definitely the best explanation I've had on PaaS and its relationship with IaaS and SaaS. The Car leasing/renting/taxi-ing metaphor was a huge help, thank you!!!
finally...this is the one video that made these concepts click for me. Great breakdown!
When s.o asks me about the Cloud I always use the car metaphor but I couldn't explain such well. You rock it! Thanks a lot very helpful content!
Thank you so much for the awesome feedback, Dünyadan! 😃
I am a beginner at this and you really helped me understand the concept... short and sweet. Thank you !
Solid!
I just realized all of you guys have been writing backwards this whole time. SO IMPRESSIVE!
no they haven't
The personas and the car analogy really cemented the concept.
Very well presented and articulated simply; creative way demonstrating the dependencies, and relationships with clear “pros vs. cons” (ownership/ scalability/ overhead)

Hi there! Thank you for the suggestion! 👍
Mind-blowing! This is the easiest explannation Ive ever seen!
Thank you so much.
Taking more Core 1 exam in about 30 minutes 😂 This is the best explanation I’ve seen on cloud delivery services without question!
Right on time! 😉
How did the exam go?
This is great. Thanks.

Beautifully explained, I'm doing my course on Introduction to Cloud Computing via EDX,
Very helpful explanation thank you. This video deserves more thumbs up than it has received based on views. I never really understood it until now.
Thank you, Leighton! We appreciate your kind words.
The analogy to the car is probably the best example I have ever seen! Its so precise to the point that even non-technical people can understand these concepts very easily.
OMG who can't like this video, an easy way to teach and nice accent too :)

Very clear and articulate explanation
I’ve watched videos to understand these differences. Suppose this is most helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! 💙
Did you write that backwards from start to beginning?
Hi Robert! We have a post that explains how we create these videos. ibm.co/335YQYY Hope this helps! - Tessa
Well actually we don't write backward. Here is a blog post we wrote that explains how we do it, with a photo. ibm.co/2LTPMjo
@@IBMTechnology It's so nice of you to reply to these kind of doubts and with such useful pointers.
I think the video and blog post are down (unfortunately)
What technology are you using for the graphics? I really like it and find it engaging.
This video gives ASMR tingles 😄
How do they make these videos!?
Taking the net+ certification in 2 months and afterwards I plan to prepare for the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification which is the path I plan to pursue in the future
Thank you for the clear explanations and illustrations.
great explanation, how do you write backwards tho??
The video is probably mirrored in post
Great explanation of PaaS
One of the best well explained in a technical way tutorials. Thanks a lot!
Do you have a video explaining what each of the blocks are? like what the definitions of 'runtime' or virtualization are

FANTASTIC EXPLANATION!

I found your explanation on PaaS easy to understand and loved the car analogy! I guess if the computing hardware is on the premises, then that means you own the car? Thanks
The computing hardware is on premises if you build your own private cloud.
The computing hardware is in the cloud if you suscribe to an iaas offer.
Good luck! I am doing the same course, currently taking my last exam(s).
The car brought it home for me, thank you!
what do you mean by app though? Do you mean your'e responsible for developing the applications that will be used on the Paas cloud model? You wouldn't say just be purchasing Third party apps to use on it? Are you also in charge of designing the cloud model?
The car example was genius!
Best presentation and beautiful analogies. Thanks
Seemless narration...Nice #krinu
Explanation is awesome!!!
You're at the back of the glass, does it mean you write in mirror way? and how could your ink lighting?...I'm curious about that.
Oh I see the comment below. Thanks
Great video! Very concise, yet detailed enough to get the major points across. Thank you!
Did you have to learn to write backwards for this job?
It's mirrored video
Assertive! Straight to the point. Thank you :)
Well done presentation ... very well done.
Thank you very much 😇, I really like how she explained but she is bit fast so i have to watch it at 0.75x😅
what tool is this that glass board? where you are writing
Does anyone know why devs are called "Jane" at IBM?
Thank you so much! Nice way to teach
Good Explanations Indeed
Thanks! Very good explanation!

Liked the car metaphor :)
Thanks for the great explanation.
Thank You. Nicely explained
Thanks for the video! Well explained! And I especially like the car example!
Sometimes SaaS's have components that need to be installed on the desktop.
more videos with tessa
she's really good at writing reverse
not fully explained but still overall good intro video from my perspective.
That's the easiest explanation so far and I don't even have an IT background
Hi Nathan, we're really happy to hear this, thanks for watching! 🙏
great explanation!
very cool... and quite helpful ...thanks
You're welcome!
I’m just amazed at how fast she’s writing backwards
I know, it's not easy! Seriously, we flip the image in post-production.
Left handed are the best!!
Is PyCharm an example of a PaaS?
Hello! To answer your question, no, PyCharm is an IDE. To run the Python code that you develop in an IDE, you need a PaaS.
Thank you! Very helpful and clear to understand.
it was helpful, thank you for it.
Great explanation, thank you girl
Thank for your explain
Are we really going to ignore she wrote in mirror format?
See ibm.biz/write-backwards
i am less clueless but i am still clueless lol
GREAT VIDEO
Impressed!
Thank you.
Thank you :)
Well explained.
I'm glad it was helpful, Raitis. Best, Tessa
amazing vid

seems like her first video , minimum eye contact
So cloud provides saas... Directly, so there is unemployment increasing 🤣.... Business are expecting more from cloud
is she truly writing backwards ? neat
No
Some examples would have been useful.
Can't get over her ability to also write backward. LOL
Also thanks so much for the explanation. Made a lot of sense!
You're welcome, Michael! 👍
As for the writing backwards part, we shared some behind the scenes here 👉
