Hi David, it's hard to believe that a few days ago we had our drinks out in a garden of a Warsaw cafe, on that warm lovely night in May. Today it's more like in November: I put on a warm sweater and covered my knees with a blanket. The day is just like in this song and on these photographs of a rainy London. And soon "the rockin' chair will get me..."
Thanks Lana for your sunshine offer. Yes, this is something one really needs in Poland nowadays. The whole country is hidden under the heavy grey clouds and "it keeps raining all the time"
Genia, this morning Rudy had the same idea and you want it or not, we already have two apartments booked in good old Savoy at Charing X . They have Gibbons' Orpheans play every night and I share Gerties opinion, it's the best dance band in the whole Milky Way.
Very good rendering of this "immortal" piece, as one might expect from Ambrose and his Orchestra. Interesting collection of photos of "stormy weather" in England, in particular in London, including (2.42) a view of the iconic Bovril advertisement... -:) Shared on Google+
@goinghomesomeday1 - You're obviously way ahead of me in your knowledge of these long-ago singers, Gerald. Still, suffice to say, they were all wonderful singers with wonderful bands and they certainly knew how to make music. How grateful we are to be able to listen to them on YT and other means. Hope the spring/summer comes quickly for you too - take care meantime.
Yes, that Reisman's version is also very good. But for me, Ambrose is absolutely unbeatable. I have also Harry Roy's version which is more foxtrott-rhythmical - but this one is best of all I heared.
Gzregorz, thank you for this, it's superb, but could you please, PLEASE do us all a huge favour, and upload the other side of this record (Piccaninny)- Its never been re-released, and the only online upload sounds horribly worn, but it's a fabulous record. Would you?
Seems to me that Ambrose (and perhaps due to his arrangers) comes up trumps with so many recordings. The songs/tunes mostly written the other side of the Atlantic but harder to better this side. Great video as well. Thanks.
@peteressex - Nice comment and thanks for it. Just as a thought, what about Glenn Miller with singer Ray Eberle. I know they came a decade later, but oh, so good too.
@goinghomesomeday1 - Do remember The Tornadoes - had a hit called Telstar if my thinking is correct. Brings back some memories that one, let me tell you. Is there anything you don't know about music, Gerald? Even the 60s hey? More power to you I say!
@goinghomesomeday1 - You like Ambrose and Sam Browne, don't you Gerald? They're way up there, but not, in my view, as good as Ray Noble/Roy Fox/Lew Stone with Al Bowlly.
Yes, Ambrose is the very essence of the refinement and class of the British bands of interwar era. Nothing compares that style!
The most beautyfull music and excellent orchestra . Congratullations.
The best rendition of this tune on TH-cam! Thank you, 240252!
I love this marvellous photos, as well as the wonderful music!
A perfect combination! Thank you!
If you close your eyes you're in the May Fair Hotel in 1933. A very glamorous time.
Not only should I like to commend you for your choice of music, but also the photos you have chosen. Excellent.
With the exception of a bit of a "time-warp" I felt that I was home in London on a rainy Sunday. Thanks for the posting and the memories.
Nostalgia poética maravillosa acompañada de una sensacional orquesta con un ritmo perfecto y unas fotografías increiblemente bellas. Tina Jover.
best rendition I've heard so far
Lovely arrangement and one of Sam Browne's best vocals!
Outstanding combination with Ambrose AHO and the singing talent of Sam Browne. So easy to listen to. What a memory!
Super excellent with very good interesting photos
Great song, great b&w images. I especially like the "rain
pictures." Among other quirks, I'm a RAINIAC, fond of the rhythms of rain on the rooftop.
This is just wonderful, luv it. Thank you for the video.
Wonderful selection of period pictures.
Przepiękne melodie,doskonałe opracowania wizualne i faktograficzne -jestem pełna uznania.Wielkie,olbrzymie D z i ę k u j ę.
A great recording accompanied by an excellent video.
Thanks. This is the appropriate video for this song!

Images are very nice to see. Many thanks.
i remember those rainy days in london and this song
Tjhank you!
The singer is British dance band vocalist Sam Browne.
One of the best combinations of that era!
Poésie, rien que de la poésie, et encore de la poésie, juste ce "touch" qui rend la vie précieuse et tellement plus vivable...
Magnificent record!
I love this music! i don't care what y'all say
S-OK, ONLY FANS WOULD BOTHER TO CHECK IT OUT.
This is a joy!!!!

Hi Grzegorz - you need a Ray of Light for this rainy and stormy upload which is nevertheless - really beautiful! Thanks!!!

I love these old city scape Pics. Especially in the rain. Just one mistake, Austin cars didn't produce the one at--1.42 min, till 4 yrs later.

Excellent. Very similar to the Leo Reisman version on which Arlen sings.
Yes, that Reisman's version is also very good. But for me, Ambrose is absolutely unbeatable. I have also Harry Roy's version which is more foxtrott-rhythmical - but this one is best of all I heared.
Unbeatable combination - Ambrose and Sam Browne - wonderful.
This is Sam Browne, doing a fine job as always, mournful trombone is excellent

Przepraszam że odpowiadam z opóżnieniem. Tym bardziej szczere i ciepłe DZIĘKUJĘ też od siebie przysyłam :-)
Yes, the very place!

Great video as well. Thanks.
amazing entertainment,
Wunderschön
Nice pics - would any north Londoners agree that the scene at 1.48 is the Watford Way where it crosses Queen's Avenue in Hendon Central?
@peteressex - Nice comment and thanks for it. Just as a thought, what about Glenn Miller with singer Ray Eberle. I know they came a decade later, but oh, so good too.
I have no idea who sings here. Not Sam Browne, for sure. Could it be Denny Denis? Or Lou Abelardo?
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing. Who is singing? Greetings from Norway.

Пожалуйста,напишите на русском кто автор этой музыки.И как она называется
STORMY WEATHER EH ? IN 1933 ?, IT'S GONNA GET STORMY ALRIGHT.
Main issue was Brunswick 01523
Is the vocalist American. A nice surprise: not bad at all
No it's Sam Browne.
Who is the singer?
It might be Bert--several band Leader's also sang. just thought of one--Sam Costa.
It was/is Sam Browne, a rather ubiquitous singer and dancer, at that time.
Sam
Did they call it global warming in those days?
Who is the vocalist? Is it Sam Brown or Al Bowley?
Sam Browne

Ретро обволакивает, назло избитому клише!?
I see my Uncle Max at the top on the drums
