The phone industry is so cutthroat and bleeding edge that it's functionally impossible to build a reasonable phone with internals that are actually worth 7000 dollars. All of the flagships have arguably the most advanced processors and cameras on the planet (for their size). Remember that Apple took its iphone soc and beefed it up, and performed better than Intel's best mobile offerings. There isn't really anything we currently have that would both fit in a smartphone in regards to space or energy profile. There's a good chance that your phone has higher screen resolution and quality than any other device you own. There could probably be faster RAM and memory implemented, but given how fast phones are now, the higher energy consumption definitely isn't worth it for most use cases. tldr: Top tier smartphones already contain the best technology in existence, so you can't really get any more out of them without further technological development.

Wouldnt compare the 7000 dollar phone to owning a luxury watch experience wise. as you said at its core the 7000 dollar phone is still a 1400 dollar phone but with a different exterior and look. A luxury watch doesn't just change on the outside but the movement on the inside becomes much more advanced as the price goes up, the detail and polisish on luxury watches is incredible, especially on brands like audemar piguet, patek philippe etc the quality of both the polishing on the outside and the amount of effort and detail put into the movements is just incredible.

Fancy mechanical bracelets that you don't really use for their supposed intended purpose.

I also had that old HTC at the time. I can’t remember anything about the user experience, but I still don’t hate the aesthetic. The externals somehow LOOK purposeful, and it was unexpectedly pleasing to see the phone again in this video.

I treat myself to a Galaxy S9 back in 2018 during the November black friday stuff, however I was jumping from an S4 which just crapped out on me, and getting it from my internet/landline provider gave me a discount which stacked with their black friday discount. I'll have finished paying it off entirely by November this year, and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not going to jump to the next flagship as soon as this one's paid off, if the fact I was using an S4 up to 2018 tells you anything, I'm happy to keep using something that's useful until it finally gives up. I do look forward to what kind of tech I'll jump to in 2030 if my S9 fails by then lol.

Had the pro version of the $7 smartphone as my first ever phone. The screen slid sideways to reveal a qwerty keyboard which had keys the same size of current on screen keyboard but the tactile feedback was something different. Best typing experience on a smartphone till date. Still miss it.

Okay...the HTC is a good buy for Elders only - mainly for video calling . The best phone is. Nokia 3220 or 3210 if you should require a back up phone on a Business trip , trekking or holiday to make calls . A lot better than a power Bank or a Sony Ericsson 2010 something model . Your needs are all circumstantial and when it comes to practicality over luxury, the Nokia 32XX series are the best

I had the X10 mini pro, with the slide out physical keyboard. Solved the issue of typing on the tiny screen and could be used for games too!

that first phone unlocked some deep memories from elementary school, one of my friends had this one and i thought that it was so, so cool, probably one of the first touch screen phones i've seen in real life, but for the life of me i cant remember which friend... gonna keep scavenging thru my memories now, thanks :D
edit: the second phone oh god, the same thing only i remember which friend. this was a few years later, like in 8th or 9th grade, and that phone was the most high tech and with the largest screen ive seen till that point. oh the nostalgia for things past is strong with this one

Nokia 3220 or 3210 if you should require a back up phone on a Business trip , trekking or holiday to make calls . A lot better than a power Bank or a Sony Ericsson 2010 something model .
