I found a modpack recently that after 30 hours and some messing with the bees mod I gave up. Although I may go back to it with a big group. Time to spread the pain. How long will this one take? 60+ hours over 5 people. 300 hours playtime here we gooooo
That's why you save instructions on how to make stuff. Modern phones can hold hundreds of GB, a few screenshots or a PDF on how to make a hydro generator or improvised firearm or whatever aren't a bad idea to have saved, just in case the world goes to shit.

Making 50 of these chemical batteries to charge one cellphone seems grossly inefficient. It might be easier to make a small generator and hire peasants to turn it to charge the phone.
There are a few companies that make powerbanks that can be hand cranked to charge. Take one with you. :-) It would take a while to charge such a powerbank enough to charge a phone, but it beats traveling throughout the US on a quest to round up the materials to make a battery. :-)

Depending where in the past you are, time and location wise some of the ingredients may actually be for sale at the local markets. In that case you just need to make money somehow since people tended to have a somewhat hostile relations to thieves those days. No "we want bother to arrest you for petty less then $1000 worth of theft".
Still need some metal for the anode and cathode, it's pretty unavoidable. Especially when you remember you can't just buy a coil of wire with nice plastic insulation.

So I’ve learned that if I plan to time travel, don’t forget my charger, and don’t go pre-electricity.
It won't matter how many cells it will take to charge your cell phone if you have the only cell phone.

I think water power would be more efficient. You could even convince them the structure was just for milling grain & not your future shenanigans.
A foot cranked motor would be fine. Ideally you should bring back a phone that isn't back-lit so it's battery will last much longer
