    I think the thing Ed was sensing in the music video is that, in the shots where Ruby's lip syncing in the background, she's crying. It's around 0:35 in the youtube MV, and again at 0:50.
    Which, in-universe, is a wild thing to include in the MV, especially while her face is taking up the entire screen.

    To explain the episode 1 scene and why Ruby seen it is because of the memories inside the keychain from Goro. That's why the Crow Girl said she's naughty to take an object from the dead.... it's a supernatural thing.

    47:41 My mrs and I have a detective board about the show and we estimate he was 12 or so when he got "offered" over to that older actress and Aqua's step brother was born. Not sure you can say he wasn't a victim of his environment.
    And since we're at the finale, I'll share my Mrs thoughts- Aqua's dad is a product of his environment and he's being protected by someone else (a father, mother, or some kind of parental figure) who is incredibly high up in power, wether entertainment or even political. Same person used the dad as a school age child to be a "favor gift" to older women/men in the industry, and my Mrs speculation is this is a D Pitty scenario of blackmail scandals and power politics.
    So the father is a muderous psycho, but there's someone above him protecting him at any cost but who also will not under any circumstances take the dad out- hence a paternal figure. Just food from thought per my Mrs

    I love how the music video cuts in the pre and post emergence of Dark Ruby. It's great work by the director of the anime! And yes, Akane and Aqua's relationship is absolutely unhealthy but it's also one born of Aqua's fear of losing Kana like he lost Ai as a cherry on top of that unhealthy cake (ep12). But back to Dark Ruby, HUGE shout out to Yurie Igoma who absolutely put in a wonderful performance by making the usually effervescent Ruby absolutely lifeless. I can't wait for s3!

    Two short and simple reasons why the “Aqua was only with Akane to protect Kana” argument is, once again, just a misconception made by Akane haters:
    1) Throughout the manga, Aqua NEVER considered his time together with Akane as “a way to protect Kana”. In fact, he admitted that the days he was with Akane were part of his happy days.
    2) Aqua DID admit to Mem that ignoring and not coming in contact with Kana was the only way he could think of to protect her, so that her reputation as an idol would not be in jeopardy. That was his plan (if we can even call it that), not to have any contact with Kana, not to use Akane.
    Extra:
    No one forced Aqua to kiss Akane, he chose to do it. He could have simply stayed single. People who say Aqua is a people pleaser and only kissed Akane because he feels indebted for everything she did for him, don't realize that they are also condemning the ship KanaxAqua with that argument. Kana became an idol because of Aqua and suffered a lot for him. If we follow that same argument, we could easily say that Aqua would agree to date Kana because of all she did and suffered for him.

    The MV at the end is so interesting. You can see how the MV was edited - taking scenes filmed at different times - just by looking at Ruby's eyes to know whether it's "before" or "after". And you can totally see how the MV creator saw the moment when Ruby became more interesting to watch and highlighted those scenes specifically. Combined with the lyrics, it gives her almost a "yandere" feel. I wonder how that will play into her growth as an idol…

    1:15:00 "Kissing does not necessarily mean a relationship" Sure, but what Aqua said about now being the one who's going to protect Akane, and right on the heels of her trying to break up with him, the intention is pretty clear, even if Aqua might be kind of messed up in the head about it himself. I think, at this moment, he honestly believes a relationship with Akane is what he wants, whether it remains that way is yet to be seen. If nothing else, I think he feels he owes her a fair shot.

    Also, guys, I just wanted to ask you this: “WHERE THE HELL WAS AQUA WHEN RUBY NEEDED HIM!?!?!? TOO BUSY SMOOCHING WITH AKANE!?” I’m not a manga reader, but from what it looks like here, he wasn’t worried about her in the slightest (I hope that I’m wrong…) I mean yes, AKANE saw the body and all of that, but, Dear Aqua, she was not alone, she was with your sister… But okay, let’s just worry about Akane, I’m sure my cute, sweet extremely sensitive sister will be perfectly fine without my support, I mean, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG, RIGHT???
    COME ON MAN, SHE’S YOUR DAMN F**KING SISTER, and you are not being supportive at all… If anything it looks like he’s just ignoring her
    HAVE YOU NO CONNECTION TO HER WHATSOEVER!?
    I genuinely hope that in the beginning of the new season we will see that Aqua has actually been worried about Ruby for these six months that have apparently passed, because otherwise I’ll be EXTREMELY PISSED OFF… I feel like he was almost a “better” brother when he was all focused on revenge and was overprotective towards her… But now it’s looking like Ruby doesn’t even exist for him (at least in this episode), instead he’s just focusing on his own “romantic problems”… If he really ignored Ruby and what she’s been trough, I’m sorry, but for me here Aqua just “hit” his lowest point…

    • @MrShirotomo
      @MrShirotomo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @giusyconti313 well Aqua has always kinda assumed Ruby was okay when she wasn't, his behavior here mirrors what happened when Ai died he just kinda thought she bounced back. Also he doesn't know the significance of the body to Ruby. This wouldn't be rubys first time seeing a corpse so he just assumes she would be fine again.

    • @kiyomi_kamimoto
      @kiyomi_kamimoto 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's what I'm saying!! Even as someone who picked up the manga after, I still think it's kinda rude to be like "aw Akane my poor girl I'm so sowwy" while completely ignoring Ruby who's the most traumatized of the two lol. He's described as an extremely overprotective brother, so I'm struggling to understand why he could have possibly thought that she was fine after seeing it.

    • @Knight4869-l9y
      @Knight4869-l9y 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MrShirotomo
      I can understand what you’re saying to some extent, but the point I’m trying to make here is that it doesn’t matter if Aqua doesn’t know who Ruby is/was and how much that body meant to her… Even if she wasn’t reborn, even if she was a complete stranger (which she isn’t because she’s your damn twin sister) you, IF you want to be a good brother, or a good person in general should at least be supporting her and asking if she’s okay, talking to her… But instead he was like, “Nope, time for some tongue exercises😒😒😂”
      Even if that body didn’t belong to Goro, I think that between the two (Ruby and Akane) the former is by far the purest, most innocent, emotional and “impressionable” one, so putting them on a “balance” I think that Ruby would be the one who needed support first and foremost… Sure Akane could have needed it too, but given her personality she surely would have taken the “hit” way better than Ruby…
      So, given my personality, I would have gone FIRST to Ruby (given how frail she could be) and ONLY AFTER, maybe to Akane… I mean, she literally talked about committing a murder, do you seriously think she would be shocked by a couple bones, Aqua?😒😂😂

    • @Knight4869-l9y
      @Knight4869-l9y 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MrShirotomo
      Actually I think this might be Ruby’s first time seeing a corpse: when Ai died she was on the other side of the door, so she didn’t witness her death nor did she saw the body (I think immediately after Ai was taken directly to the hospital so Ruby didn’t get an actual chance to see the body), and even back then I think Aqua shouted Ruby to “DON’T GET CLOSE” or something like that, meaning that he was worried that seeing AI’s body could “scar” her for life… So why didn’t he do the same thing right here? Even if it was just “a stranger’s” body from his perspective, WHY THE HELL DID HE AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME SHE WOULD BE FINE!?
      I honestly can’t get a reasonable explanation for all of this, why didn’t he even bother to ask?
      and as I said, if in the next season, they show that Aqua basically neglected her the whole time (even if it isn’t easy to grasp, even if Ruby is an excellent actress and tries to “mask it” saying that everything is fine) I’m sorry, but for me there Aqua would have failed not only as a brother, but as a human being in general, because now he’s just being extremely selfish, thinking only about him and his problems…

    • @Knight4869-l9y
      @Knight4869-l9y 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @kiyomi_kamimoto
      That’s exactly my point, I’d you read the comments I left here to answer the other guy, you’ll get a more detailed picture of my thoughts…
      I mean Akane a few episodes ago was literally talking about how ready she was to commit a murder for Aqua’s sake (she was serious in that instant), would she really be scared by a few bones, my dear Aqua?😒😂
      And to be clear, I’ve nothing against Akane, I really do like her, it’s just Aqua that here is being a complete and utter garbage of a human being…
      Given my personality, if I was Aqua, if I had to “choose” between my sister and my “loved one” (even if I think that Aqua harbors more romantic feelings towards Kana, but that’s besides the point) knowing that the former is far more impressionable, pure, innocent, easily scared, frail and in general more “suited” for trauma… I would choose my sister without a doubt, (I’m not a siscon😅😂) just because it’s in my nature to instinctively try to support the person who, in that moment needs it the most, and ONLY AFTER having helped her, I’d go help the other person, but maybe that’s just me…😅
      So, who needed Aqua’s support the most? RUBY
      Who should have Aqua gone to see first? RUBY
      He should have also asked Akane if she was ok (which I believe she is… I mean a little shock it’s perfectly normal) BUT DO IT AFTER you ask your sister, you idiot, Jesus…

    Aqua will not be able to die until she faces her father.
    Or rather, a life of revenge is empty.
    We should consider the meaning of the Japanese title,【推しの子】.
    Aqua's real name is "Hoshino Aquamarine", and in Japanese, in addition to being the name of a gemstone, it can also be called "Hoshi no Aqua no Umi (the bright sea under the stars)".
    Also, in Japanese, Aqua can mean something equivalent to evil or something that cannot be called evil.

    Alright, time for my crazy theory. So with the crow girl obviously being in some way connected to the “goddess of entertainment,” I wonder if she plays a role in the dad’s motives. Meaning, is it possible that the reason the dad is killing all these people is as a sacrifice to this goddess in order to grant himself or his kids entertainment blessings? Think of the kids the dad has had so far. Ruby a super star idol, Aqua an incredible actor, and Aqua and Ruby’s half brother (I don’t know how to spell his name) he is also incredibly talented. So is it possible that’s why the dad is doing all this? He didn’t seem antagonistic toward Ruby when he passed her on his way to AI’s grave and he hasn’t tried to kill any of his kids so far (at least as far as we know) Why? If he was in this for himself or purely for the sake of killing why not have someone take care of the kids to? Also think about where the doctor’s body was hidden. Behind a shrine dedicated to this “goddess of entertainment.” I think it’s definitely possible that she plays a big role in the dad’s killing spree. Not to mention the crows flying in the background of the end credit scene, which seems to imply some connection between the dad and the crow girl.

      To me it seems obvious because the goddess was introduced in the town were Ruby and Aqua were born/died. The crow girl has supernatural qualities shown by the fact that she has intimate knowledge of the events surroundings AI’s pregnancy even though it happened over 15 years ago. The crows that are all around her also bring the Ruby to the doctors body which is hidden behind one of the goddess’s shrines. The crow girl also talks about the gods in general a lot so to me it seems like she has some tie to them. Ether literally being the goddess herself or maybe a messenger of the goddess. That’s what I think at least.

      What you said in the last sentence was not mentioned anywhere so far in the anime, so kinda counts as a spoiler...

    Thank you for noting that middle school age boy. Very few people pointed that out... Ai was 16 when she gave birth. The bio dad was around 13-15 at that time (middle school age for Japan). Now what that says about Taiki who is 3½ to 4 years older than the Twins.... wouldn't that make Uehara and Airi murder-suicide make a lot more sense?

    I wonder what the end of Akanes' sentence at 20:06 was going to be. She shouldn’t think it’s the dad. Reason being that she knows Aqua thinks his dad was dead, which would mean that the corpse of the man Aqua thinks is his dad was found. However, since she literally just discovered body she should be able to realise they are different people. Not only that but Aqua says “with regard to my father, and to that corpse…” which clearly implies they are separate things. It could be that she has figured out the reincarnation as she could have the necessary information. That being the age and name of the corpse. Last episode Aqua told her that he knew somebody who worked at the hospital and about Gorous life. It would be weird to think that they aren’t the same person. This means that Aqua would know somebody who died before he was born which is naturally impossible. Not only that he knew about a hidden corpse that only the murderer/s should know about and since he hadn’t been born yet he couldn’t be the killer. Which means that the only non supernatural explanation would be that the killer told Aqua about it which would certainly be strange (though not literally impossible). Furthermore, if she remembers that Ruby said sensei to the corpse when it was discovered. This means that she not only identified the corpse but also knew him. This is also naturally impossible considering the time of death. Though I doubt that she has actually put the pieces together or even if she has all the pieces to begin with. Not only that but later in the bath it’s clearly implied that she has yet to think through all the implications of what happened during the trip. She might have been thinking ‘victim’ if she does not know the age of the corpse. There isn’t any one thing Akane would know that could disprove that but it would be weird because you wouldn’t want your murder to be found among other things. The most plausible answer I can come up with is that the end was just something mundane like ‘acquaintance’ (as boring an answer as that is).
    Rubys’ prayer at the shrine was that Aqua should find the one who killed Ai and Gorou. In other words she doesn’t know that it’s their father. If she did know that she would have prayed that she’d find their father or that Aqua would find their father. This means that she has no way of finding the one responsible and since Aqua is no longer searching this means that no progress will be made until something changes. There are three possibilities, Ruby realising she’s chasing her father, Aqua realising that the mother could have cheated or Akane taking some action. The most plausible among these three is the first one unless something happens. Unfortunately that unless is basically an until. It is basically 100% guaranteed that the crow girl led them to find the body and then manipulated Ruby into seeking revenge. Her motives are unknown to us but my guess is that it’s for entertainment and decided it would be better for the revenge not to end. Which means that if Ruby also starts believing that their father is dead thus ending the revenge then the crow girl might step in again. Not only that but her face quickly flashed after rubys’ prayer meaning she might step in to grant it without any significant change needing to occur. For example, she could lead the father to approach the siblings (though that could also happen without her). Since he looks quite like them, Aqua could figure it out, or at the very least get a hunch. Simultaneously Akane could realise that he is the father and view it as a threat considering she knows he has killed before and feel forced to make a move.
    I’ve been thinking way too much about Oshi no ko lately and it feels nice to share it (though there are a lot more thoughts I wish I could have fit in, but it’s already quite long). If you're reading this that means you likely got through my entire comment, so thank you for reading it.

      Why is everyone jumping on the "Akane almost figured out reincarnation" scenario?
      Some very logical assumptions one can make based on the evidence, Aqua's words and facts like the date of the twins' birth and Goro's disappearence:
      1. Ai told her kids about the friendly doctor that was supposed to help her give birth and how he just disappeared.
      2. Aqua who was trying to find the one that killed Ai had an interest on the doctor that somehow went missing on that specific day.
      3. Ai's death and the doc's death are connected because of that.
      4. Aqua felt that Goro Amamiya resembled him(dead mother, follows wishes of others instead of his own).
      All of that is what Akane can think without somehow jumping at the theory of reincarnation.

    • @salie7714
      @salie7714 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ssjokg4952 I do agree that figuring out the truth from just what Aqua said is quite a stretch and weird since all the things he said and did can be roughly explained without the supernatural. There are things like him knowing Gorou wanted to be a surgeon, Gorou never getting over his guilt, him walking to a specific cliff when he talked about the corpse (he had no way of knowing where the doctor died), the fact he said he knew Gorou and that he lied about it being an old pet. Small things that could definitely feel weird but are in no way conclusive and can have natural explanations. This is why I stated that I didn’t know if she had the pieces to figure it out since the best way for Akane to have figured it out would have been through Ruby. Calling somebody sensei is a lot more weird than knowing about somebody (though we can’t definitely say she heard her). However, I do agree that Akane probably hasn’t and won’t figure it out. The weirdness of it all just isn’t at a point where you’d definitely get to the supernatural and even if she did she’d probably just brush it off or reject it outright. However, I would say she should notice that things are off and if she acts on it by asking some questions it could give her that final piece. Though unfortunately if she was going to ask about it she likely wouldn’t wait six months sooooo, yeah. Which is actually quite sad because if she asked either sibling something like ‘How do you and Ruby/Aqua know Gorou’ it would probably lead the siblings to ask about their previous lives.
      TL:DR, You’re right that saying Akane almost figured out reincarnation is wrong. In fact if you interpret the bath scene a certain way you could say she hasn’t even really thought about it. However she almost has the necessary information to conclude it and depending on her actions she could figure it out in the future.

      @@salie7714 Finding stuff about Gorou wouldnt be hard,or at least you dont need to think it was hard, if someone knows. Gorou could have told Ai.
      Aqua never said Gorou died at that cliff, he just stood there and asked Akane a general question. Also, the police cant prove he died at that cliff and after 16 years they probably cant prove he was moved at that cave.
      Both Aqua and Ruby can lie about how they learned about him and Akane cant know if they are lying about that.
      Even Ruby's fantasies about marrying him can be written off as this airhead's delusions she made when she was a baby and heard about "that doc who was also a fan of Ai"

      I just wanna remind everyone the past 2 episodes of Aqua trying to break up with Akane after/before (depending on anime or manga) going on a date with Kana AND ON THE VERY NEXT EPISODE. Akane reminds Aqua the dangers of an idol getting into a romantic relationship and Aqua pictured Kana suffering the same fate as Ai. As far as I'm concerned Aqua is STILL using Akane but now for a different reason. So he can distract himself from Kana.
      P.S. I don't hate Akane I just don't think their relationship is healthy. I'm sure Aqua does love Akane in some way or else he wouldn't choose her for this (or just stay single) but it still feels like it's his way of pushing Kana away and pushing his feelings for Kana away. By far Aqua is still the most himself when he's with Kana. The only thing holding back their ship is that I feel like Aqua HAS put Kana on a pedestal hence why he traumadumps to Akane but not Kana. I might be biased cause I do prefer Kana (and Akane reminds me of how I used to act which I do not like as well as some other people I do not like) but I still appreciate Akane as a character and I wish the best for her. She deserves much better than Aqua. As long as Kana and Aqua iron out their creases they are perfect for each other imo.

    I was holding out, man. I was sitting in the parking lot. You were right there. The kiss scene was right there and I wanted to see it! I couldn't wait any longer. I was malding in my head. You were so down on Aqua and Akane all season long and it felt like you missed the subtle buildup during the season.
    I'm gonna be blunt here. I absolutely despise the question "Is Aqua and Akane healthy?" I despise it because nothing is entirely black and white as "It is" or "It isn't"
    Are there things that are legitimately concerning about their relationship? Yeah. They both have some screws loose. Aqua isn't in a stable place. Akane is stuck in an impossible situation that she has to deal with all by herself because sharing Aqua's personal info with others isn't really an option.
    But Akane does Aqua a lot of good. We saw last episode that Aqua has gone a long time with practically no self-worth and no real relationship with someone that actually supports him on a deeper level. Aqua spends a whole lot of energy supporting others at his own expense. Two episodes ago, he quite literally hesitated to cut ties with her remembering her just... hugging him. Then he said that's exactly why he had to cut ties. Bro literally thought relying on Akane's emotional support was using her. You think that there was a possibility Aqua was manipulating Akane with the kiss? Absolutely not. The man was feeling too guilty to continue having ties with her. This was real and was being built up.
    Moreover, Akane is someone Aqua can be vulnerable with. Not in the sense of talking love on a couple of occasions, but someone he feels comfortable showing his weakest and pathetic sides to without fear of being abandoned.
    TL;DR, Aqua's gone through two lifetimes deprived of the kind of love and affection he should be first getting from parents but didn't, and now Akane is giving that to him. Should she be the only one doing this? No. Can all this go belly up? Absolutely. But this is a good start.

    I'll be honest, this season REALLY soured me on Akane. She seems way too perfect in a cast where the main theme is everyone dealing with some kind of self-flaw or trauma. It's definitely not a healthy relationship she has with Aqua. And quite honestly, I question the entire point of having her in this arc. She didn't really contribute Anything but that conversation with Aqua, which could have been done before or after this arc. Rby could have also found the corpse on her own.
    I love Ruby having her dark side phase now that Aqua stopped his. Her's is honestly more terrifying than Aqua's. The question is how long until Aqua finds out the truth.

      Honestly same. Well, I don't think Akane should have been left out, I don't have anything against her presence in this arc and I don't necessarily agree with you on the fact she's useless.
      But she is, so flawless. Just the perfect girl, the perfect girlfriend, the perfect mom-friend. I know people who love Akane and hate Kana see that as positive, but I kind of don't. I hesitate to say I'm like Akane, because just like her, I'm shy and I love acting and psychology. But she's just so perfect and seems to be able to do anything it kind of irks me a bit. Kana, as annoying as she may be, has flaws and good sides, which makes her a bit more relatable. But Akane is just perfection incarnated, and it bothers me.
      The only negative traits I could quote in her would be her need/urge to just constantly help everyone around her to extremes, which can be pretty self-destructive or even not end up not being helpful at all and more hurtful to the person she actually wants to help. Until now, examples of this are Aqua and Kana. But aside from that, she has everything going on for her, and most people who like her also see her as a goddess who can do anything, so yeah...
