- Huw has been coming to Thailand for 45 years, this interview could end my TH-cam channel, its the hardest interview I have ever done, it was like trying to get blood out of a stone, he is the grumpiest guy I've ever seen in Pattaya

They still do when I walk past, although I suspect the reason they do so now is different from when I first came here 30 years ago 🤪.
But we were young and handsome then, now just another old face in a sea of old farts
I know pattaya and jomtien from visits over the past 10 years. About the bars, they've changed, hoofing it around town makes the difference.

you nailed it how it used to be 2008 in phuket i go to discos girls grab you and it was fun,soon as the phones and mainly the dating apps came they milked everyone one dry become freelance have a attitude don't even look up from there phone price not negotiable fussier prices to 7 k,i went to phuket feb first time in years and it depressed me hardly any girls dancing bars on table tops gone weed shops everywhere sad af I won't go back in high season now as it's a rip off
I didn't enjoy phuket
It's the same everywhere
Nothing has changed for the better anywhere

My cousin worked in fords probably 20 odd years. He now works in a comics and collectables shop and loves it 😂

I really enjoyed this 'interview'. I bet you had a scream at Fords! Phone technology has ruined society, Webby! Being in my 50s, I loved the days when you were uncontactable, went out exploring, places, pubs etc, and came home when you were hungry. If the bars stay empty, it may force owners to restrict the girls from using them.
It's not just phones mate it's everything
My first visit was 1987 and I agree that it's not as good as it was. TH is a great place now but it was really awesome back then. I'd guess 79 would have been even better.
In 87 Pattaya was WS and one of the 13s, plus a few bars spread around.
I spent more time in BKK (Patpong then) than Pattaya because even as a young man Pattaya was too much partying for me then.
I also preferred BKK but in the last 5+ years BKK has become too much.

I remember back to July 1997 when the Thai economy collapsed and were forced to float the Thai baht on the stock exchange pinned against the dollar. I was a trustee on the pension scheme representing the members and as I had been to Thailand the previous 2 years I was wondering why the pension scheme investors were holding so much Thai baht currency.The exchange rate when through the roof I bought £2000 worth of Thai currency and was not far off doubling my money.Nice to see you two having a bit of banter,your work mates you stay close to and don’t forget them when you have worked together for such a long time 🍻🍻👍

Highest recorded end of trading day rate fro the last 30 years was January 23rd 1998 90.8 baht to the £ , I missed that year but it was around 78 in 1999.
First came to Thailand 1989 , only one short time bar on Soi 6 King Kong, beer 20 baht a bottle so about 25p .
Around 2002 was the best times around Soi 8 IMHO
It was only for a few days I checked 😆
First time. 93, Phuket, and Pattaya 96, great them days 35 baht a beer, ladies all night and the next day until they decided to wake up. 250, 300, baht and they were mostly around 9,s or better.
And no fkn barfines.
You rarely heard about
Them until around the late 90,s to early 2000,s but even then it wasn't that often.
These fkn days you're paying 220 a fkn ladies drink.
Best I ever seen exchange was 98, 99, when the baht crashed Aussie battler was 35 baht, may as well call it the fkn Peso now.
Like the old Nate said fkn ridiculous these days it's just gone ballistic, the ladies are still gorgeous but most are just to interested in their phones or getting some dumb bastards like me to buy them fkn drinks.

Still convince a pretty decent 1 or 2 to come home with me long time for ar 1500 baht to 2000, and fk their bar fines just bullshit to them I still only pay them bar fines if their really hot but there is a limit to that 4 to 500 baht at the most.
And until some one realizes and drops the price of ladies drinks to around 120 baht most of the bars that are empty now, will stay that way.
All I can say is there must be a lot of blokes with to much money to burn.
Because there doesn't look like many are making ends meat.

I will always holiday there but I just spent 10 nights in the Philippines on the way home and at 2 bucks a beer on the beach, and ladies that don't bother about drinks all the time, I can see why some blokes are turning that way again.
Yes I admit the food is not as good and the ladies probably aren't as consistently beautiful, but when they are they are just as hot if not more then
Thailand.

Well got better rates in most countries, not just Thailand
I first went in 89 and went 40 times up until 2010. It was definitely better in the early 90s. It was madder as well. I remember when you were sitting in a bar and the next thing some big lizzard or kestrel or hawk would be put on your shoulders without you knowing. The girls weren't big drink queens so much. They gave you more for your money as well. Time i get back to retire will be another 4 years. I guess i wont recognise the place

First time I went to Pattaya in December /January 2005/6 the girls were very happy an fun again in around 0ct/November 2013 The girls were happy and playful, Now I can see the technology has turned them into zombies, to many nights clubs fkn it up too 😮❤😊
