Defense is different in basketball
@@chesterdonnelly1212 There is no defense distance rule in basketball, so MORE likely to get blocked. Basically every shot in netball is a free throw. The release point is approximately the same, only netball players seemed to be encouraged to bring the ball up awkwardly behind their heads. I think they would benefit tremendously from watching Steph Curry or J Reddick.
@@franleblanc you could be right. I've only just started to take an interest in netball. If you're interested watch normal netball and then watch Fast5 netball.
In normal netball every successful shot is 1 point, so the aim is to shoot from as close as possible. These women are tall and they're good. Some games they have a 100% shooting record. Sometimes they miss but get the rebound. For this game their technique is successful.
But watch Fast5 netball. It's one point for under the basket. 2 points for a bit further out, and 3 points from outside the D. They miss a lot. I think that is where a basketball technique might be better. I would also be interested in seeing England netball team vs a WNBA team at Fast5 netball as that game is more similar to basketball. I think the basketballers could win.

Invictus Flux you're allowed to jump but you have to be 3ft away from the shooter before jumping. Also you're only allowed one jump

Aaron You mean basketball or netball? Cuz, Netball is all about concentration and aim and you have to have good foot work, basketball is running and jumping so the ball goes all over the place it is also more competitive. Try play Netball often and see how it goes 👋🏻🤣🤦🏽♀️
@@emkaski5998 played school leauges of both... Netball is way easier than basketball... Being a GS on the Netball and a SG specifically a spot up for the hs basketball team... Netball has softer defence and more on passing.... But basketball has far more imposing post ups and physical play making the more difficult sport it is.
@@emkaski5998 netball is a shit sport, anybody that can play a tiny bit of basket, can be as good as the average netball play.
One thing this video misses is the emphasis on being on the balls of your feet when you go to shoot - I see so many flat footed shooters. Not only are you more likely to get more consistent power in the shot at various distances but also be more ready to move in faster for rebounds etc.

You're smarter to learn to play basketball. You'll learn more in basketball. This is very easy for people who play basketball. Average position from which to shot in netball is extremly easy for basketball players.

I play alot of basketball so these shots to me seem extremely extremely easy. Idk alot about netball but looking at it from a basketball perspective I'd be shooting floaters all day in that semi circle
@@trevorrodrigues41 think woth netball is that hoop is smaller than one in basketball and its harder to hit it but distance from what they are shouting are ridiculous short and on top of that defence in netball does not exist

nathan seumo technically yes but it would be very difficult since you can only take one step, and when you step the non planted foot (from the step) cannot touch the ground

I will try this skills soon. I'm actually a sharp shooter last year, but this year I lost my confident a lot because I'm so stress for being a leader of my team and automatically my shooting skills lost a lot. I hope this kind of skills help me a lot in tomorrow tournament.

I have a match tomorrow (Friday 7 July 2016), so I've been looking for ways to improve my shooting - considering I'm the shooter... In fact, this is my first competition and third time playing netball - so I hope this will help - if it doesn't I wont blame anyone. I've been waiting for the day of my competition since June and I know I should have more confidence but mine is kind of low when it comes to working as a team.
I have faith in my team - I'm not saying theres no chance in them, if anything theres no chance in me! I know they'll put me on the bench if not everything turns out so then I know to improve, I don't usually take it as an insult - but anyway.

I'm a shooter but for actual basketball, the fundamentals in basketball should absolutely transfer here. Elbow in, wrist loaded, and push ball up for arc. More consistent shooting. Like Klay Thompson

Because you can’t move with the ball; it’s not basketball
Leonardo Jimenez jumping counts as taking your feet off the ground which means you’ve run or walked with the ball which means the umpire will call up a stepping penalty (literally just called stepping) and the ball is handed to the other team. So no dunking, sorry mate.
