Definitely get a glass greenhouse. You should contact a greenhouse maker. Tell them about your channel and you might get a big discount. It very important to have a solid base for it to sit on. Get good advice as they cost money.....
We are all learning, I adore how honest and down to earth you are about life. You aren't afraid to be silly or curious or honest. I think it's why we all feel invested and adore you taking us along so much. ✨
Hi Emma put your greenhouse where you should have enough space to walk round it & clean the glass & maintain your beautiful greenhouse house 👏👏👏👏 it will change your life! when I got mine i just sat in it for ages & love it when it rains hearing the rain when potting around just love it lv Irene 😘 xx
Emma with regard to your gloves. I use a peg with a piece of string attached then hang the string with the peg swinging. Easy to peg pair of gloves up in the shed. It helps to dry them too 🤩
It’s official I have parsnip envy Emma, well done you 🎉. I need to mention you literally are the “Wildlife Whisperer” what with Eisenstein, Mr Fox and Rocky! Even the crows and parakeets show up at your voice ❤❤…. Even the mice got the memo now😅😅
I feel like you need to reconsider your "messy backside" of the lot! Just get rid of those brambles and do a skinny long bed and just do flowers every year as a border! You could collect more and more permanent plants too along the way :)
I was watching you with my mum, she noticed about your potatoes error, but she said you were so sweet and innocent about it.. my mother asked me this morning if your video was ready she wanted to watch 😊😊😊
Hello there Emma, I definitely think having the greenhouse framed by the archway is much more convenient, however I think a glass greenhouse will be a lot more sturdy. I also love how excited you got pulling up those gorgeous parsnips, your smile is so contagious! 😄
You want glass not poly, they break easily and you would be lucky to replace them. Also 6x8 won't hold many plants especially tomatoes. We found 10x12 a better greenhouse.
First year we grew gladiator parsnips they were monsters I’ve bought smaller swedes 😂. I thought oh no they’ll be woody. Huge parsnips taste as fabulous as small ones.
So sad to see our world covered in plastic. My plot was the same when I got it. Almost none left now. I use cardboard and wood chips as pathways now and just top them up.
A poly tunnel may be a better option Emma- Where you are it is very windy and a greenhouse could cost you a lot in broken panes each year to replace. take a look at your neighbouring allotment gardens and see where they have placed their greenhouses- It should be south facing to get maximum light and sun. A strimmer would make life so much easier in your allotment - You could just strim and rake it then dig out any brambles or bind weed. make sure the ground is level before erecting a greenhouse look for flagstones to use as a base down the centre to walk on and place the green house on flagstones on each corner once it is level.
So excited for you planning a green house 💚 Those parsnips look wonderful, enjoy them ☺️ I guess you could freeze a portion to have for you Christmas dinner?
Hello Emma. A gardener from Manchester is immprest withyour parsnip havest. The glasshouse is a great idea. I was also doing a breakdance with a measuring tape this weekend but mostly because I got my first rent invoice. Thank you for another vlog from London.
#1 we are laughing with you, not at you! #2 I agree about glass greenhouse breaking. I have a polycarbonate one, but know they are extremely light and you will have to hook it down somehow. Mine is hooked to a 4x4 framework. I have cardboard on the floor for now, until I can afford some kind of floor. The frame is very light, so you could move it around a bit until you like the look. Hope this gives you a few ideas.
I have poly….whatever, not glass on my greenhouse as i have kids who play ball games in the garden. It works great! 14 years and still standing the only thing i had to put cross bars on side panels as in the stormy winds panels get blown out otherwise! Apart from that its great as it wont get broken like glass! My neighbour has glass and her dog smashed the door glass in first year!
I like the idea of framing the greenhouse in the arch. That's a lovely idea. Definitely get the biggest you can afford - something you can comfortably sit in and still have room for shelves.
A glass greenhouse will hold the heat better than a polycarbonate one, and that's the main reason for even getting a greenhouse. If you can afford it, glass is the way to go. Love your videos, Emma, thanks for doing what you do!
Emma 8 x 6 greenhouse would be perfect ,glass is better but poly carbonate is safer if you’ve got children around . Go on a free cycle site and ask if anyone is throwing out old slabs ,they may even deliver for you.
It's more important to work out how much sun your greenhouse will get and when. Because I have a small garden my greenhouse doesn't get a lot of sun until about April /May because of a huge hedge and a hill and houses. You want to be maximizing the usable weeks of your greenhouse.
Check your lease because sometimes they have specific measurements allowed and some allotments don’t allow glass so you’d have to get polycarbonate panels anyway.
Don’t go with out sunny I had a Outsunny greenhouse with polycarbonate windows it was crap and all the panels blew out in the wind look up project timber they do some lovely wooden ones with much better stronger plastic I have the project timber one with potting shed at the back it’s fabulous and been amazing in the storm
Fantastic parsnips, they will be ok still in the ground over winter if you don't need them all at once, I got my polycarbonate green house from Norfolk greenhouses, great company and they are string but I now have a glass one and honestly say I don't notice the difference accept that I can grow things over winter in the glass one
Wow, that parsley, what a success! The roof slates break when they are used for walking on, trust me, I tried it. Lovely vlog, I'm happy I can see someone do gardening in December, what a treat. My veggie plot is under snow...
Hi Emma why don't you use some wood or something to mark out where you would like your greenhouse so you can roughly see how big it will be, bigger is better
Emma, I think you would be great on I’m a celebrity get me out of here. I would definitely watch you with the spiders toads and mice. Face your fears 😂😂
I think you definitely want larger than 6x8, if you can clear more space and sold enough journals 😁 It greatly depends on what you are using it for, if you will include work surfaces inside, beds below, etc. But 6x8 sounds like more space than it is! You will never regret getting the larger one but will quickly fill up a small one! Whatever you do, I do like centering with the archway but the archway can move too if you place the GH where it gets the best sun! Oh-& if they sell one, try to get the guttering kit for it so you can collect and have water close by!! So excited for you!! 👩🏼🌾🙂
I’ve heard the polycarbonate ones aren’t great, they can be quite flimsy. If your greenhouse is away from trees it should be alright but either way any greenhouse is better than no greenhouse 😅
Don’t get a polycarbonate panels as they blow out in the storms also check your tenancy agreement as we are only allowed certain sized sheds and greenhouses
Fabulous vlog Emma,,, And what a super parsnip harvest,,, You should do a vlog on making you're soup,,, and showing you're christmas table ,,, I think everyday is a learning day and it keeps it exciting learning along out gardening journeys, Have a fabulous weekend x
I’ve had polycarbonate greenhouse for 7 yrs now they are brilliant, I find I have less damage than I do with my glass one and when I lose glass panels they are expensive to replace so I’ve started replacing with polycarbonate sheets instead
Love your honesty and willingness to make mistakes Emma, makes you enjoyable and relatable to watch, never change ❤ I would put the greenhouse at the end of the arch, slightly away from the edge will reduce risk of breaking any glass if you accidentally bump a cutting tool when trimming the hedge/plants along that edge, will also be nicely framed by the arch so aesthetically pleasing. Wherever you put the greenhouse I’m sure it will be valuable to have and well used. I would definitely go for glass, although there is a risk of breakage, much less chance of it being damaged in high winds.
I had a polycarbonate greenhouse once… it blew away in the first wind storm…. I’d advise you research before buying 😊 My glass greenhouse has been absolutely fine, I live in a constant wind tunnel!! 🌸🌸 But exciting getting a new gardening toy 😆😆
Great vlog, and no annoying adverts for a change. I noticed on the dog walk that the daffodils are coming up already! About 6 inches high and it's not even been Winter yet. What's happening? 🌿
Hi Emma, Great Parsnip harvest. Parsnip is a Winter veg, so can be left in the ground until required. The foliage dies back in Autumn, and grows back again come Spring. The greenhouse looks like the business. Looking forward to seeing it built. Those slates are excellent, even if you don't use them for the greenhouse, you can use them for holding back the tree roots if you bury them with just a few inches showing. You don't want the greenhouse near the tree, just in case it comes down in a storm and lands on the greenhouse.
Hiya Emma, truly enjoyed visiting with you today. May I suggest putting a few staples onto Harrys Santa hat so does not blow away etc Anywhoo have a great weekend Luv Ontario Canada 🐝🇨🇦
Hi Emma, if you get a greenhouse with a gutter system, it would be beneficial to put it in line with your arch. That way you'll have plenty of room to put a water catchment container beside it. Also it is useful to be able to access all the way round the greenhouse for any maintenance in the future (just my thoughts, I'm sure you've thought of all that already) Boy, those parsnips were amazing, well done you!!! - watching you pull them, I learned that parsnip envy is a real thing lol
Hi Emma, my advice for your greenhouse, especially as its polycarb, is to put it in an area that doesn't get hit by lots of wind. So full sun and maybe protected by a surrounding windbreaker like a shed, fence or solid structure. Polycarb is light in weight so will blow out in high winds. I love my greenhouse, I'm sure you will too. Love your channel 😊❤
A greenhouse sounds fantastic, we like the idea of right behind the archway, then the area to the side could be for water storage, watch Jb naturally for ideas on collecting water. Yep get the biggest you can afford, we bought a pollytunnel last year and wish we had a bigger one. Keep having fun, even witht he mistakes, a joy to watch. Big lick from Colin the dog
I've got a glass greenhouse at home but it's in a really sheltered spot and it was quite pricey. Polycarbonate definitely sounds better for a more exposed site, plus it will be much better bang for your buck. Framed in the archway sounds lovely!
I got a cute little polycarbonate aluminum greenhouse and when we got a strong wind all of the polycarbonate panels blew out!! so be careful choosing one
Haha an honest mistake, big up to you for admitting it openly. A sign of a good person. 8'x6' is the most common size, check if you are allowed glass or have to use plastic on your site. I have literally just bought one for my site.
Brilliant Video as always! Just thought I'd mention though seeing as you brought up the subject of gloves, twice I have ordered CoolJob gloves via your link only to have the order cancelled and my money refunded. No explanation as to why, I just wondered if it was just me.
I have that exact greenhouse, but in 6x6 size. If your allotment is at all windy, I would recommend a wooden greenhouse with the solid plastic panels rather than polycarbonate. Overall, I have been very happy with my greenhouse, but I built a woodne base that I attached with concrete bolts into a concrete pad. I then attached the greenhouse to that. Storm Bert blew out about 6 of my panels, but I managed to put them back in. I have now taped and silicone sealed all gaps. I have also added cane supports bolted and siliconed into place on the roof panels. That is to prevent them from bowing in the wind. This seems to have worked well, but I'll let you know how it fairs after the storm blowing tonight... You could also think about planting windbreaks (fruit bushes?) My advice would be to do your greenhouse properly if you are going to do it. Something very solid and sturdy will last much longer.
I have polycarbonate panels in my greenhouse. They are fabulous. Nothing like the old plastic I had in a greenhouse years ago. Modern polycarbonate is way different. My garden is very windy and this was what was recommended on my site. It’s is also much cheaper and way safer if kids are around!
Really wouldn’t bother with one of those greenhouses. I had one. Was rubbish, only lasted a couple of years. I then bought a large poly tunnel, but that wasn’t much better. I’ve moved house now and I’m going to get a proper wooden greenhouse. Your seed potatoes,, take the cover off and leave for next year. You’ve done great with the parsnips!!! Xx
Gorgeous parsnips! LOVE the Santa hat for Mr. Scarecrow!!! 🙂 And don't worry about gardening mistakes. I've been gardening on/off for decades, and I still make mistakes from time to time. Gives you something to laugh about later!
Morning Emma, Market place is defo the place to go, 3 greenhouses that i have aquired and slabs are easy on the plots as people leave them behind when they give up. I am like yourself and in almost daily and see and know who is leaving and pikey away everything. Good luck Baz x
Put your greenhouse where it gets best light and access. I wouldn't worry about aesthetics. I'ld definitely go for glass. On our allotment site polycarbonate panels get blown out and the light levels just aren't as good as glass. Just my opinion, you do you.
Emma please make sure you anchor down your polycarbonate greenhouse to the ground. We had ours fly away in the wind like a huge kite, and then we anchored it and never had wind problems after that
I've brushed against dried up parsnip leaves, I left the plant growing for seeds. A day or 2 later I got several truly nasty looking blisters on my left hand. It took about 2 months to heal, left quite large scare tissue and even now (6 months later) it still itches occasionally. I've learned by lesson 🙂
Hey Emma! Just a word of warning about Outsunny products, they are cheaply made and break easily! I bought an elevated vegetable bed from them and it was impossible to put together, it ended up breaking! Also, if you want to keep your parsnips for Christmas you can parboil then freeze, they'll last up to a month from freeze! Love your channel!
I love these videos i recently moved from somewhere with a good size garden to potter around it to a place wothout any outdoor space, I have applied for an allotment locally, i know it'll be a while yet but these videos keep me going.
Hi emma, hope you are ok. I think in line with the archway is a great idea then you will have space at the side for some rain collection barrels. Can i also just say were you thinking of moving the Archway because of your pumpkins not doing well this year ? If so you might want to change plans a bit. Fantastic parsnips 🎉congratulations they are my favourite crop. So looking forward to seeing what you do with your greenhouse plants ❤
P.S Did you know that you can leave Parsnips in the ground. Even when the tops have died back, they will store until long into the New Year. So, as long as your ground is not frozen solid, you will always have Parsnips on the Christmas table.👍👍👍Bon Appetit.
Nice parsnip haul , they'll keep for the Christmas dinner if you just cover with a layer of soil . A touch of frost will make 'em taste even better. Hope you've battened down the hatches for storm Darragh tonight.
Woweeeee congratulations on your Parsnips,my favourite veg they are ❤ l was telling my friends that you grow some cracking pota, great job sweetheart 👏👏👏
I also had a polycarbonate greenhouse which was great , but the first storms of the year blew it away , shame really my next one will be a glass one , loving the video vlogs Emma really brilliant stuff at your plot , thanks for sharing 😀
Only started following you recently, i think you're a hoot!!!! I 5hink the greenhouse would be ideal framed at the end of your archway. In America we call those stones you are think of as pavers. If that person allows you those "slates" I think they would work well!!! Love your content!!!! ❤ Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
On a positive note-a clamp is a good way of storing potatoes outdoors, under straw and soil.If you learn by your mistakes that should make me a professor 😂.Happy gardening!
Definitely get a glass greenhouse. You should contact a greenhouse maker. Tell them about your channel and you might get a big discount. It very important to have a solid base for it to sit on. Get good advice as they cost money.....
You might get one given to you just for a review.
We are all learning, I adore how honest and down to earth you are about life. You aren't afraid to be silly or curious or honest. I think it's why we all feel invested and adore you taking us along so much. ✨
It’s called wearing your heart on your sleeve x
Hi Emma put your greenhouse where you should have enough space to walk round it & clean the glass & maintain your beautiful greenhouse house 👏👏👏👏 it will change your life! when I got mine i just sat in it for ages & love it when it rains hearing the rain when potting around just love it lv Irene 😘 xx

Polycarbonate panels blow out in the wind. Toughened glass is the way to go.
They do, incessantly! I had to mastick them all in.
Absolutely love your vlogs, brilliant Emma, keep it up and never change!
I love growing & eating parsnips. Better than a potato reveal
Thank you for making it ok to get it wrong sometimes!!! I spend half the time at my plot making an idiot of myself 🤣🤣🤣
Those pipe things you saw would be great for putting over crops with some cover
Hello there Emma, I definitely think having the greenhouse framed by the archway is much more convenient, however I think a glass greenhouse will be a lot more sturdy. I also love how excited you got pulling up those gorgeous parsnips, your smile is so contagious! 😄
You want glass not poly, they break easily and you would be lucky to replace them. Also 6x8 won't hold many plants especially tomatoes. We found 10x12 a better greenhouse.
“There’s always one.” 👀🤣 I would get the non-glass version. I wouldn’t want to deal with the broken glass issue.
Hey Emma, I’d watched your potato harvest and thought the same! I thought they can’t be the seed pots as they aren’t mushy! 🤣❤️thanks for sharing 🥰
First year we grew gladiator parsnips they were monsters I’ve bought smaller swedes 😂. I thought oh no they’ll be woody. Huge parsnips taste as fabulous as small ones.
Put the greenhouse lined up with the archway so you can see it looking through 🌿 and a bench at the side to sit on to have a sandwich and a cuppa 🫖☕
So sad to see our world covered in plastic. My plot was the same when I got it. Almost none left now. I use cardboard and wood chips as pathways now and just top them up.
I knew you would eventually onow it was a seed potato.
Indeed funny watching you 😅

I plant parsnips in Spring and harvest in Winter... I may try planting soon as I can work the ground, probably March.
A glass greenhouse will hold the heat better than a polycarbonate one, and that's the main reason for even getting a greenhouse. If you can afford it, glass is the way to go. Love your videos, Emma, thanks for doing what you do!
Looks like you could go bigger on the greenhouse if you completely clear that whole area. You would never regret going bigger!

Wow, that parsley, what a success! The roof slates break when they are used for walking on, trust me, I tried it. Lovely vlog, I'm happy I can see someone do gardening in December, what a treat. My veggie plot is under snow...
Emma you brilliant and make me laugh thank you 😊❤🎉🎉🎉
Hi Emma why don't you use some wood or something to mark out where you would like your greenhouse so you can roughly see how big it will be, bigger is better
I love the good stink of parsnip too.😊😊😊😊😊
Tip for pulling up roots like parsnips is to push them down first . Helps to avoid breaking them 😊
Hi Emma, love the parsnips and you being so honest about the seed potatoes, happy gardening x
Bless you with the potatoes. 😊
Emma, I think you would be great on I’m a celebrity get me out of here. I would definitely watch you with the spiders toads and mice. Face your fears 😂😂

Hi Emma, i think mistakes in gardening happen in order to teach us not to take everything so seriously. Gardening should be fun too❤Thank you
Fabulous vlog Emma,,,
And what a super parsnip harvest,,,
You should do a vlog on making you're soup,,, and showing you're christmas table ,,,
I think everyday is a learning day and it keeps it exciting learning along out gardening journeys,
Have a fabulous weekend x
Yes! A harvest to table vid😊
I think the end of the archway but please make sure you have a level and stable base.
Put your greenhouse somewhere that isn’t going to lose planting space. My allotment neighbours Polly carbonate greenhouse blew threw
I’ve had polycarbonate greenhouse for 7 yrs now they are brilliant, I find I have less damage than I do with my glass one and when I lose glass panels they are expensive to replace so I’ve started replacing with polycarbonate sheets instead

Totally agree with you , I also noticed the polycarbonate tended to go cloudy and also quite brittle.
Perhaps that's why it's a black friday deal .

If it was me I would put the greenhouse inline with the archway and then have water butt's to the side connecting to the gutters 😊
After experiencing the storms Emma, think about how exposed your greenhouse would be hun xx
I did think on your last vlog , omg you dozy mate thats the seed potato, but my wife said I couldn't write that on here so I didn't.😊
Tie a piece of string across the inside of your shed door and peg your gloves etc onto it
Great harvest. Strongs for cleaning the area for the greenhouse. Its going to be worth it❤
Hi Emma, if you get a greenhouse with a gutter system, it would be beneficial to put it in line with your arch. That way you'll have plenty of room to put a water catchment container beside it. Hi Emma, I got my greenhouse from Asom it's similar to the picture you showed us on your phone, it's also polycarbonate and was a bargain,
When you get your greenhouse don't for get to bay a base for the greenhouse to stand on.
The grinch scarecrow is in the allotment. Like you alot Emma, we're all weird and different. I experiment to in my garden growing things.take care xx
I've got a glass greenhouse at home but it's in a really sheltered spot and it was quite pricey. Polycarbonate definitely sounds better for a more exposed site, plus it will be much better bang for your buck. Framed in the archway sounds lovely!

I think framed with the arch and not off to the side. Can always make another compost area to the side

Put your greenhouse where it gets best light and access. I wouldn't worry about aesthetics. I'ld definitely go for glass. On our allotment site polycarbonate panels get blown out and the light levels just aren't as good as glass. Just my opinion, you do you.
I love parsnip brill graited fried with onions for chillie or spaghetti bolognaise or lasagne
the poly carbonate ones are quite flimsy , youre better off going for a toughened glass one , probably one a bit more expensive
I'm going to attempt to make my own polytunnel soon using blue pipes as always happy gardening Richardx
Hi Emma..me again...i hope you ise your planner money for a greenhouse so i feel like i helped jn a small way 😂❤❤❤❤❤
I also had a polycarbonate greenhouse which was great , but the first storms of the year blew it away , shame really my next one will be a glass one , loving the video vlogs Emma really brilliant stuff at your plot , thanks for sharing 😀
