    I love what you're saying about the wall being up, preventing us from being creative. The desire for more features can definitely become an excuse to not make music.

    I do love mine, I also got it as a birthday present for myself (and I also pear it with the hypnosis, another underrated machine) and it was brilliant from the get go. 100% agree, this machine rewards the creative and those who take time to craft and experiment. Great video and a good jam at the end. 👍👍

    I love the Tempest, sounds great! Only thing that`s a bit disappointing is the limit of projects you can store, and that it doesn’t automatically save projects...had some accidents.

    Don’t know why this thing never blew up! So under rated! Curious what it can do in the hip hop world of drum breaks other than 808909 kits. I’m sure it can produce grimy drums especially with the distortion options. I will never part with mine....thanks for the upload

    Hi am thinking of picking up a tempest of Ebay or Reverb and was wondering if i could asking you some questions.
    -are there any bugs (there were early OS)but i am wondering about if they have been ironed out
    - is any good for sounding shaping synths pads as a side job
    -what modulations are that apart from LFO AND envelope

    • @dbvelocity6508
      @dbvelocity6508  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bugs are well ironed out. It does usual subtractive voice stuff but has more envelopes than typical and plenty of digital osc choices for 3 and 4. The mod matrix is great and the ribbon controllers are very useful for expression as well as the pedal inputs.

      @@dbvelocity6508 what kind are the modulation sourced and destination sorry for all the questions just i am about to shell out and you seem well informed

    • @dbvelocity6508
      @dbvelocity6508  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Difficult to list them off the top of my head, you have 2 lfo, 5 env with dedicated sends and 8x8 matrix with velocity, after touch, pedal 1 and 2 and more as sources. Destinations are usual suspects from osc to filter, envelopes and lfo for self modulation and recursive envelopes.
      Like I say it's quite a bit and I'm certainly not remembering everything at the moment. I can do a detailed look later tonight.

      @@barrnycharlton8951 I do love it, it has a bit of a curve to learn and excels at live manipulation. Also it has a pretty good resell value if it doesn't suit your flow.

    Db Velocity. I am going to take the time to see about how much sysex transfers I can full time at it.

    as with most compressors you only notice the background noise when the machine is paused ...a noise gate would fix that.

    It seems almost everyone uses the Tempest as a synth that happens to also make beats. How good it it as a dedicated drum machine compared to, say, the Alpha Base?

    • @dbvelocity6508
      @dbvelocity6508  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, I've never used alpha base but I can compare to TR boxes and say this does well but arguably sits in it's own arena. The TR stuff typically needs extra processing to get that magic. That the sounds here are synth engine based and the controls really lend to performative interaction explains the approach some users take. It almost compares more to Elektron Analog 4 and not the RYTM in that regard. I use it mostly for percussion and the percussion happens to have a lot of flexibility in tonality. Like a ton of flexibility. It leads you into all kinds of little zap effects and bleeps on one side and noise glitch or roto tom pitch bending on the other. Therein lies the rub of programing the sounds but it's not too difficult and if you want basic analog drum kits it has those.

    • @Bananskuden
      @Bananskuden 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dbvelocity6508 I like the flexibility, absolutely!
