Thanks Rob. Hopefully it’s clear that I was playing Devil’s advocate initially. But as this video shows: innovative startup =/= scam. You’ll have to have me at the next event so that I can put out more positive updates! Cheers and best of luck up there.
Hi Rob, could you DM me on Twitter @AustinScott_tw. I'm in the process of making another video regarding the recent developments. Willing to hear your side. Cheers!
5:40 The a321xlr is definitely the best so far as an alternative aircraft because of its more fuel efficiency, longer range, and the aircraft has its newest technologies so far, such as the fly by wire, advanced systems, and etc.
I think you could be right; the A321XLR is small enough where they’d always fill its capacity as long as they appropriately adjusted their pricing throughout the year.
767 is popular with cargo operators as this is a misnomer- the only plane with the LD2 container. With airlines actively retiring 767s, these cargo airlines can buy up LD2s coz no one else needs them. The LD3 is THE cargo container of world aiines
Yea... I'm looking into this... Some things simply don't add up. I know people who could write a check to these guys in order to acquire more 757s... and yet an airline CEO, potentially with a solid business model, is crowdfunding..?
I received the same thing. They have also tried to start their own crypto currency and have tried to sell it. LOL!!! They are desperate. Due to Russian airspace being closed they need ETOPS, which takes many years and huge money to accomplish. They will never fly. They are totally out to fleece investors. They even invested in some electric aircraft for bush Alaska, citing high fuel prices. Are you kidding me, 99% of electricity in the bush is produced with very expensive barged in diesel fuel and to ship out depleted batteries would be a huge expense. Another false carrot to dangle in front of unknowing investors.
They might have a chance when the US asia market is hot and offers a lower price to get customers. But most asia flights takes 12-15 hours and if they need to make a stop at ANC, most people have to wake up "midnight" and to deal with security check, customs and gate changes, that is just painful. Also, ANC can't be a great transfer airport, too far away from the mainland and can't offer one stop service to most us cities unless make a second stop again at some point. During the old days, most airline have to make a stop but with a better plane available, they all choose to make flight direct.
I am interested to see if the passengers end up preferring clearing customs in ANC over let’s say LAX. I think most hate long lines and would be willing to interrupt their sleep for it. Regarding the US cities thing: that’s not a problem I don’t think. But it’s most of Asia that they’d need to take an extra stop, which considering there’d have already been the ANC stop, would simply be unacceptable for most.
They stated they went with the 757 to start with because the availability to get them. More than likely cheaper for them as airlines have retired them over the years. They may be workhorses, but no doubt maintenance costs and fuel consumption could crumble the company depending on how much passenger traffic they see. And considering how back logged Airbus is on orders and Boeing delaying; they wouldn’t see a new aircraft for some time if they decided to order new. Going to be interesting to see how Northern Pacific gets up or really how long they last
Wait? How do you only have less than 1k subscribers!? You have some of the best aviation content out there! I love your videos! Keep them up! Just subscribed :)
I think the problem with these two part videos is that you called it a scam. Based off the videos on your channel, you seem like you're trying to give an indepth critique about airlines, etc. Calling something a scam sounds a bit biased and your presentation didn't give us any hints of another side, only a part two. Just offering a critique here, but I think you might want to present things in a bit more unbiased sounding way.
Could you give me the timemark in the first video where I called it a scam? I highlighted some interesting details about the airline, created intrigue in an otherwise boring, nerdy topic, and then wrapped up all my thoughts in this second part. When future viewers watch the first video from now on, at the end of it will be an icon to click to get to the second video; there won't be such a dramatic wait and it'll feel a lot more seamless. That all said, I hear what you're saying. Splitting this video in half probably made things sound one-sided in my first part, but TH-cam punishes TH-camrs who put out longer videos most of the time. It sucks. Almost all my videos are under 5 minutes for that reason.
Scam? No. Questionable and horribly timed business model? Yeah, absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I wish them well, but they're going to have to try and buy their way into the market by offering fares at least 20% below the lowest of the deepest discount fares between the U.S. and Asia just to tempt someone to connect in ANC, let alone stop there, trashing yields. And this is using a great CASM aircraft, but their fixed costs will still be ridiculously high as a startup, particularly since just about everywhere in Asia within range of ANC is closed or only barely trickling open after COVID. Then, the lack of true earn and burn loyalty with other carriers will be a huge issue. If I didn't know any better, you'd almost think this were some false-flag operation funded by AS at testing the ANC-Asia market before throwing 737 MAX 8's at it (their options can be converted to any MAX variant, and the 8/9/10s will all eventually come to AS). Now, if you're talking about getting people off 7H flights from bush communities you might - MIGHT - be able to get a 70% LF 1X weekly on a B757 to NRT/HND or maybe ICN, but that's about it.
Although I’m not a fan of your first video, this one was fair and well researched.

You really incorporate my comments really well. Thanks.
I’m glad you think so

Yesterday, I received an email from Northern Pacific asking me to invest in the airline. Perhaps they don't have as much money as they need? Or...?

1:45 It sounds to me that Northern Pacific should have invested in A330's instead. Especially at this point where they haven't invested in pilots yet.
Actually good idea. I bet A332s are pretty cheap relatively.

I love the Northern Pacific livery!

So... you claim they're a scam airline. Then they aren't. Make true videos for real views. Clickbait much?
Drop the timestamp where I claim it’s a scam airline. Thank you.
