Jinn said BOTH times, JD is their only son, and since he remembers Anya as well, I think she wanted to tr for another kid, JD's birth was successful, but do to Anya's normal infertility and the program's early stages at the time, I'm guessing Anya died in the 2nd attempt, this makes sense as Marcus really seems to hate Jinn's program, and if it's 2nd attempt led to Anya's death, then Marcus hating it makes sense.
Kendall Shafer there is a collectible page in the mission right after that mission implying she died trying to give birth to her second child

Del is great, but I'm not letting the sole heir of the Legendary Marcus Fenix and Anya die when the choice comes.
It was a dick move and Del should have had something to justify his death and allow the fan base to accept it. Dom's death was a long time coming as we watch how hopeful he was to how disparaged he became. We knew he had a death wish and as much as it hurt we understood why he had to do what he had to do. That choice in 5 was bullshit and the devs are gonna have to figure this out.
@@michaelbanks1000it’s war, a death can have a build up or it can happen abruptly no death is “justified”. This time it may have looked like they had a choice in who to save but that’s not really a choice at all, because in the end someone you care about still dies. How many soldiers in real wars have had to make this same choice? It captures the hopelessness of the world of gears perfectly imo

From what I understand she died due to something in the fertility process that weakened her I presume. Which is why Marcus has a large issue with jinn it sounds like she tried to have another child and her body couldn’t take it. But that’s just my theory.
One thing I did dislike is her dying off screen. Then again it’s for the best, I just feel like we never got to officially say goodbye to her.

No. In the lore (not explained in the games) anya was not able to have children in the natural way. She was infertile. So I guess that's why she enrolled in this program.

Most women on sera are infertile due to imulsion radiation. The stuff the first 2 games and a few books explain. Anya and Sam are good examples, they were directly affected by it, causing them to be infertile. This is why you don't see sam having a kid with baird. Its not that they didn't want to. It's that they can't and sam didn't want to undergo treatment with Jinn being the Chairman. Anya was Chairman at the time. While Jinn was her assistant, anya wanted a child with marcus and through the program it happened, but sadly the program had a few misfires and it ended up taking Anya's life shortly after she had JD, she had tried to go for another child but died in the process.
She was infertile.

Out of topic but the Gears 5 campaign offered me a great experience, from Minh Young Kim's COG tag being a collectible, to re-exploring New Hope, although I feel like there could've been more.

Marcus never let rank stop him before. I think he's restraining himself because Jinn was Anya's protégé, and they were friends for years, ever since Jinn was a teenager. I dont think there was any nefarious ulterior motives and Jinn was being honest about caring for Anya. Like Prescott, she has to be the asshole and make objective choices. Unlike Prescott, since she grew up as a Stranded, she doesnt approve of using hammer strikes. And apparently, neither did Anya.
Later on, Marcus is still in service of the COG even after Jinn destroyed his house. Likely feeling obligated because Jinn took responsibility for the Settlement 2 massacre, covering up JD ordering the Deebees to open fire on protestors. Del and Kait talk about it after Fahz spilled the beans on what really happened.

Tavaughn Anderson Jr tbh i said this a LOOOOONG time ago, the franchise should have ended with gow 3. They had a great conclusion and the best multiplayer in the entire franchise. Wallbouncing is ass nowadays and tbh i'm not digging them calling the locust "swarm" like why change the name of the enemy!😂 yet at the same time i feel obligated to get the newer games for the story alone.
I had to read on the Gears Wiki to find out how she died. She died because she wanted another child and their were issues with that program she had JD with, that would later that led to her death. I miss Anya I think the Cog would have a better chance against the swarm were she around.

I feel a bit of resentment of Anya for the reestablishment of the COG granted that a central authority would help rebuild the nations of the world, but after what it became after the Pendulum Wars and the mass atrocities against both the UIR and its’ own people kind of someone makes me glad that E-Day nearly crippled them.

Nah don't think so. In the books an stuff they make it clear Jinn respect and loved both Anya and Marcus. I just seems that the fertility program had some flaws in it and it worked on Anya the first time but on the second try it claimed Anya's life.

A lot of the women exposed to Imulsion were left infertile. Thus, the need for a fertility program. However, in the early stages of the program there was a low success rate and Anya died with her and Marcus' second child.

Nothing happens. I tried my first play through, I wanted to just shoot Reyna in the Head, kept trying, then when it times out it says you failed to act, mission failed & you have to restart the scene. So I saved JD.

I’ve been saying this exact thing. Idk why I haven’t seen anyone other than yourself here on TH-cam, that have voiced their problems with Anya being killed offscreen. It honestly just pisses me off how Marcus and Anya were finally able to have their story-book ending, and then something as major as THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE DYING happens offscreen and is merely mentioned in a couple cutscenes. Yes, absolute killer so far, not as good as the original trilogy, but it’s really good

I give it an 8.5/10. The gameplay and combat have been refined to excellence, and it is visually one of the most impressive entries on Xbox One, but the story comes across as hackneyed and the POV character Kait can be hit-or-miss with her dialogue. Escape mode, while offering a new avenue of play, doesn't hold much replay value and Horde 5th Edition is kind of running on fumes at this point.
All in all, a solid last exclusive entry on this generation's Microsoft console.

Spoiler Alert. Read at own risk. Please skip pass right when you ses Spoiler Alert. I remember it like I just got finished beating the game just now. I chose Del to live due to JD arm lookong like he was getting ready to turn into the Locust & the way he was carrying on with the team as if he didnt care about them like he use to & darn near got them all killed in some encouters with the Locust in Gears 5. Also with me choosing Del to live it helped to change focus from Marcus' family. We clearly saw back in Gears 4 how it was making a transition from Marcus' family to Kate's family. In Gears 5 it fouced a lot on Kate & I do still remember that scene where JD said something smart to Kate & next thing you know later in the game you have to choose between Del or JD to live. Since I saved Del 1st playthrough I gotta go back to that chaper & section to see how it turns out when saving JD instead of Del. Heck hopefully Gears 6 will branch off 2 story arcs. If not another dead charater & who knows the one we saved back in Gears 5 might actually die in Gears 6. All we can do is play back through this great series & other games, movies or whatever keeps us occupied until Gears 6 comes out one day.

Basically jinns fertility program could allow Anya to get pregnant since she was infertile so that’s what she and Marcus did and they had jd but I’m guessing like a few years later she wanted another child and went back to do the program again but there must have been some issues and a malfunction the 2nd time cause she died, so during child birth or from complications before child birth.

I’m curious how the story plays out now without JD or Del. Maybe the next gears won’t have either of the two.

@@Dardariel214 Really? I had a theory that I would have found a way to bring them back. Like have the swarm try to turn them even when they were dead. My issue was there's little character development for JD and Del in terms of expanding their characters. ANd JD's turn in later acts just feels weird.
Alex Eddy I was thinking that too! Like why so soon and in that manner. Or also Reyna only seriously injured them and someone finds them and revived em. That would be awesome and blow some minds.
