    I had a Neu 1515 2.5d (1600kv) in a Gorillamax chassis e converted revo (way before the E revo) using a Quark 125 car esc and 6s lipos, it was freakishly powerful (I was breaking pinion shafts on 1/8 scale diff setups). I can verify Neu doesn't play, these are the motors the Castle motors are based on

      I have heard that Neu makes Castle motors. I think neu motors are still the gold standard motors but they are pricey.

      I still have one of the 2650kv Neu-Castle motors in box . I've had it for years as a backup for the first one . Still haven't killed tho having run dumb gearing or 6s at it and still survives . Even pushed an infraction to 104 with it! I would buy a plunger from Steve Neu if he designed it!

      @@grantdelmege2724, The castle version are unfortunately still made in China using their own facilities, it's the design they licensed from Neu, I am pretty sure Neu Motors are at least assembled in the USA

    Would love to see you do some testing of the new TP 4080CM 2022kv motor and put it up against the Castle 1721 2400kv motor. Maybe a few speed runs and bench tests.

    I'm on a tight budget so it's surpass hobby motors for me...
    I'm definitely in the sub 100 mph club & I'm alright with that.
    I find speed running at 70-80 mph on Scottish single track roads is a very thrilling thing to do.!!
    It brings in suspension tuning a bit more to be able to handle the decidedly uneven & bumpy roads.! 😂 😂 😂

    Excellent video great job information too. I have the TPC 4070 can I use a max 5 or max 6 ESC to run in a new speed build? And what is would be minimum ESC and your recommendation. I do have a 8s cap pack. Thanks soo much

    • @grantdelmege2724
      @grantdelmege2724 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had a few TP 4070 motors and run them on the Max 6 ESC and this ESC whilst solid cant handle these motors as it just cant deliver the amounts of current these motors crave.
      If you want to max out these motors then the XLX2 is the only way to go👍

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use a smaller ESC than recommended, however, if you push it too hard you are risking blowing it up.

    Hi I currently deciding on if the tp 2200kv 4070cm would be good or a castle 1717 1650kv? Want to lightly bash with it too in the arrma limitless with the MMX8s esc

    • @DavidMartinez-sl2jq
      @DavidMartinez-sl2jq ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend 4070cm 2200KV or castle 1721 2400KV with the XLX2 ESC. I have personally ran the 1717 1650KV with the MMX8S and although it is good, it also has more limitations, in my opinion.

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1717 1650Kv motor would be more suited to light bashing. The 4070CM is a high performance motor.

    Just wondering how we find out the torque output of these electric motors?
    I don't understand why Manufacturers don't put the torque output for a given voltage.
    It would be so handy to know.
    Automobile manufacturers list the horsepower and torque on their vehicles engines.

    • @RCexplained

    What about double up the pack in parallel to keep the voltage from sagging during the run?

    • @RCexplained

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, I was wondering why they maintain the same can length for these varying stator sizes. Perhaps low volume sales on these massive motors makes it worth sticking to one case part number?

    I have an Erevo 2.0 and I have had the TP 4070cm both 2200kv and 2700kv motors. Both are great but the TP 2200kv on 8s is monstrous.
    I have just got the new TP Power 4080cm 2022kv motor which is a larger and more powerful version of the 4070 series. Not run it yet but I expect good things from this motor. I run all my motors on the Castle XLX2 ESC.

    Can I ask you a question? I cannot seem to find anyone to answer this. I want to try to get 70 to 85 mph out of a Traxxas UDR. it weighs around 13 to15 pounds. It's big and the stock set up does about 40 mph. You can get 45 mph by changing the pinion. You cannot go crazy different size pinions or spurs. I want to switch motors an esc out. There is not much room in this truck.And TP 4070 and a Castle 1721 with just fit with a over hang on back end and very close to drive shaft. So which motor and kv? The truck is set up for only a 6S. But you can get a way by adding a 2S to it so you get the 8S. Very sorry if I ask to much.
    Thank you

      Your "they help me" "and I didn't have to spend $3.00" "thank you thank you" comment is extremely passive aggressive. Expecting the guy who has no products to sell you, owes you exact product specific help after watching his free video and having access to his free website after giving you free help in a TH-cam comment is truly mind blowing. Very well done and a first on this channel.
