Now that's a master class in how kayak. Didn't hit the wall, and powered right through the eddie after it. You don't know how many people I've seen get a facial defoliation on that rock on the right.
tough question, whatever you do, i would advise your to buy your first boat used you will get to know what you like and what not, you wont be sorry to scar it and its the cheapest option if you find a boat you like more, you can sell the old for minimal loss depends how steep learning curve you can tolerate and have fun, and what difficulty will you ran most of the time that being said, creeker boat is the easiest to run, and playboat is the hardest, everything else is inbetween
A lot of the answer to that question depends on how many paddling disciplines you think (but don't yet know if you're a novice to WW) you could end up pursuing. If you can afford at least a 3 boat quiver well problem solved. If not a decent river running type of boat affords the ability to take on creeking, mid volume and higher volume to see if you're a niche WW boater or want to experience a fuller range of river types.Build whatever quiver you can afford but start out with a boat that allows for at least some of every river type.
I used to sell whitewater boats and teach kayaking. Yes, the antix and boats of a similar shape are excellent first kayaks. They are friendly for learning how to navigate rapids yet playful enough to make the easier tricks (surfing, spinning and stern squirting) attainable for new boaters. You may not think you'll ever want to do tricks, but once you get comfortable on your local class III river, you'll be glad to have an area of progression. Developing those skills will set you up for class IV.
Antix is more for river play than your ordinary boat, due to the low volume in the stern. I’d assume it is a lot less stable and does not roll as easily as other boats like the dagger phantom, waka og or Jackson nirvana. I heard the waka og is an excellent boat for your first proper boat, but if you love Jackson kayaks, I’d go for nirvana, and antix when you’re feeling better in the river. Antix is the more fun boat for sure, but you’d have it really tough running new and harder rivers.
Voodoo ranger imperial IPA!!! I definitely approve!!!
You are a machine, how easy everything looks.
Great videos.

Would you recommend the antix as my first "proper" whitewater boat (my current one is club spec and probably better suited to flat water)
