Would love a video on how 2 Aussies decided to move o/seas and renovate a chateau. Though to Victorian lockdowns were enough to make anyone move away.

When I was a small child of almost two years old to almost 4 years old, me and my family lived in a Chateau in Bourdeaux or just outside. This would now be 70 years ago. My father was a U.S. military soldier at that time. I remember the Chateau and various things about the place. I always wondered what it looks like today. I played with French children and learned the language. I keep looking around to see if I can find my old home. Maybe someday you will find it.

Good insight of the humongous task to rekindle the life of this magnificient chateau. Long life to the french monument.
What a state it was in ,your commitment nerves and support from the French historic departments have allowed you the finances and permissions to get where you are so far 105 rooms in the main house and major subsidence issues,you have started a long road to maintain the project to be still standing in a centuries time,enjoy the quiet,restored rooms and pool!

Each and every Chateau is unique. They each present their own challenges to the new owners. But one thing that is common to all of them is the disrepair from setting decades unattended. It's new owners are very willing and determined to do the best they can to restore it to its former glory in accord with historical guidelines. Often, historical documents are found within the rooms and are
thoroughly researched to give its owners insight on its past. So exciting to see what these ancient pages reveal! Your Chateau has so much potential, I am eagerly anticipating the renovation of each room!

If you watch their Instagram posts you will see they are using the most knowledgeable architects and artisans with experience in properties of this period.
@@Louisefenner If you keep watching you will find that they MUST restore it both to its period and to the standard required. The architect representing the historic monuments is in charge - of everything - including of the paint colours both interior and exterior.

To build my 1870s house today would be 2 million as its all heavy stone I paid a few percent of that. To build that Chateau today would cost 100 million or more. Sourcing the site the land then the stone trades all hand made then the outbuildings and landscaping closer to 200 million. Congrats on finding it and having the balls to go for it. I am sure your hard work will pay off. All the best. You have great Vision.
Absolutely stunning Chateau!
I hope she us structurally sound?, but can almost foresee the transfornation from near "ruins" to
a palatial mansion, regarding the architectural details, floors, wallcoverings, furniture and artwork.
It will obviously take time and alot of money, but the reward is seeing her come back to life!
Have you considered using the buildings for photo shoots or movie locations as a means of obtaining money towards the project? 🤔

Hi Ricardo - thanks for your passion for the chateau and following our restoration works. For the time being we are using Instagram and Facebook as our main way of updating on the restoration works. We would love to create some videos in the future when we have more time to do so! Thanks for your support and following the journey of the chateau as we bring it back to life x
With all these bâtiments, we can understand how a castle wasn't for just a family. It was a full village of our ancestors and despite the democratic propaganda, the people and aristocrats lived together! I would thank all the British people who buy, restore and take care of our old stones, the most world magnificent!

Quel dommage de laisser un tel patrimoine à l'abandon durant des décennies ! Je suis allée le voir il y a deux jours et il semblerait que son état n'ait guère changé !
Je m'excuse mais c'etait impossible que vous étais au château il y a deux jours car le chateau etait fermer au public. Nous sommes ouvert au public exclusivement pour les Journées du Patrimoine. C'est dommage car si vous aviez visité pendant les journées du patrimoine cette année, vous auriez vu que nous avons fait beaucoup de travail. Vous pouvez suivre nos progrès quotidiennement via Instagram.
@ J'ai dit je suis allée voir le château et non pas que je suis entrée à l'intérieur !!!!!!! Je ne l'ai vu que de l'extérieur et étant amoureuse du patrimoine je ne savais même pas qu'un tel bijou était près de chez moi ! Je l'ai découvert en me baladant ! Et d'ailleurs, ce même jour j'ai également découvert le château de Coussay ! Étant Local Guide je commente bon nombre de châteaux et je me ferai un plaisir de laisser un avis plus objectif lorsque je pourrai enfin le visiter ! Bonne soirée

Si vous suivez nos mises à jour quotidiennes sur instagram, vous comprendrez le projet et tous les travaux que nous avons déjà réalisés. Si vous aviez visité pendant les Journées du Patrimoine vous auriez pu voir le travial énorme que nous avons déjà accompli au cours de la dernière année.
Quel étrange commentaire. Vu le nombre de vidéos dédiées au château de Purnon et au long, très long travail de restauration qu'il demande, on est en droit de douter que vous vous soyez réellement penchée sur le sujet. Si vous êtes, comme vous le dites, guide, cela ne donne guère envie de vous avoir pour informatrice. Tim et Felicity font un travail de titan, et voilà mademoiselle plénitude qui vient là, en passant, déposer un commentaire inepte et peu renseigné. Bravo pour le professionnalisme 😂
