This is basically Richard Marx with the Eagles. Joe Walsh on guitar, Randy Meisner and Timothy Schmit on backup vocals... 3 Eagles. Great song, legendary musicians
Few debut albums have the star power of this one, but Richard Marx was a well established backup singer and songwriter long before this album, and he had a lot of connections in the business.
Richard Marx has replied to me a few times on Twitter ‼️ He's hilarious, makes fun of his own music ‼️ One time I was in Jamestown ND, walked into a liquor store, they were playing this exact song!! Tweeted him about it and he said,"So there's a liquor store in an elevator?"😆 He's also wished me Happy Birthday, and when I was sick he sent me "Get well soon!" Totally down to earth! So glad y'all did this one ‼️ Much ❤️ from Seattle ‼️
Richard Marx has a voice that just makes you close your eyes. Yes, it was Beautiful Goodbye. This is off his first album. This is the first Marx that you've done that I didn't put in for. This whole album was so good. He was soft rock. Yes BJ that was him. EDIT 8 HOURS LATER: How many times can one woman say "This"?? 🤣
Thank you for being the only reaction channel to react to this particular track. It was never played on my radio as often as Richard's other songs, but it's my favorite one.
Watched a show some years ago with Joe Walsh talking about his life and work. The interviewer asked Joe about working on this track with Richard Marx. Joe - who recorded this back in the day when he was drinking and maybe using substances - replied "Well, it sounds like me. But I don't remember it!" Always a smile from Joe.
This was from his first album. Great song writer and lyricist. Got his start writing commercial jingles. So many songs of his are worthy....Hazard, Endless Summer Nights, Right Here Waiting, Should've Known Better, Angelia... And the list goes on and on.
Right Here Waiting was the slow song. Yes, he was definitely considered pop in the 80's, what we called Top 40 back then, pop was a pretty general category people were thrown into when they weren't metal or R&B. Huey Lewis and the News were also considered pop back then.
From Wiki: According to Marx's personal commentary about the song's origin, his manager at the time asked Joe Walsh to play slide guitar on the song and he agreed. As a fan of the Eagles, Marx felt that musically the song could have belonged on the album The Long Run. Two other Eagles members, Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit, sang background vocals on the song. Marx reportedly wrote the lyrics himself and co-wrote the music for this song with Bruce Gaitsch at his first apartment on Lowry Road in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, where Marx resided during the early 1980s.
Richard is underrated legendary. I was just a kid when he was hot but I still dug the songs that got played and even I forget about him when I think about the classics. He won though.. He married Daisy Fuentes.
I know this song from the radio and saw the music video a number of times. Richard is talented and was popular singing for a few years, he made his money by writing for other solo artists and bands. Great singer/songwriter. "Endless Summer Nights" "Angelia" "Hazard" "Should've Known Better" "Now And Forever" "Hold Onto The Night" are other hits from him.
I didn't even realize that you guys had done a reaction to this song. And for some odd reason I had this song in my mind tonight and I just posted the song about an hour ago❤
Not a fan of this guy at all (not a hater either) but the Mrs. dragged me to a casino show last year, and damn if he didn't impress. Trio backing him up, no pre-recorded bits, all live, and he hit all the notes, totally committed. So shout out to R. Marx.
I thought of him as Soft Rock. His tempo was similar to Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp, and Rod Stewart and Chicago. I think on the radio today they list them as Adult Contemporary.
I like this song, but please react to Endless Summer Nights by Richard! That one brings back such wonderful romantic memories! ❤️❤️ Appreciate all your great reactions! Keep on keeping on!!
Remember the blonde lady dancer that had an abortion in Dirty Dancing! That was Richard Marx's 1st wife. I have no idea why l know this, my brain is filled with useless information 😁
Regardless if you like Richard Marx or not, his voice is fantastic and his wife is one of the best dancers of all time Cynthia Rhodes who famously played Penny in Dirty Dancing. This song is so much better with the video! Explains what this song is about. He’s more of a pop/rock singer and his ballads were massive hits for him! His song Hazard is still one of my favorites of all time and of course his well known Hold on.
I have no idea why I haven't been seeing yalls videos and just looked it took me off as a subscriber TH-cam did I don't know that makes me mad I been missing my ppl
Maybe the video with the lady in heels BJ is talking about was Whitesnake- Is This Love with Tawny Kittaen getting all up on lead singer David Coverdale.
It was Beautiful Goodbye with his second wife, Daisy Fuentes. His first wife, Cynthia Rhodes, was in Dirty Dancing as Penny, Patrick Swayze's dance partner. She was in this video.
He did a lot of ballads, but this isn't one of them. The songs you did before were from the same album as this song. The entire album was a gem. He was a studio musician before he tried making an album of his own. He played for and knew a million people in the industry. HIs wife was in this video, a very small part, but the video you're describing was Whitesnake.
This is one of his least best songs...a great artist, you would be blessed if you were to actually look through his discography. Being a father, "Angel's Lullaby" is first. Being a husband and lover...you'll figure it out. ;-) There will be a gathering of tears from this, which would fill every moment...his songs will make you cry. All the best.
This song is about signing a contract with the music industry and dancing with the devil, Richard Marx didn't sign his contract, so he was gone! respect!
Big song for him back in the day. Brings back memories
Asia & BJ, You might like his "Hold On to the Nights" and "Should've Known Better"!!
Richard ruled MTV in the 80's
His first album, he super talented! He writes and composed his music 🎶 and plays piano beautifully! It’s soft rock!
This is basically Richard Marx with the Eagles. Joe Walsh on guitar, Randy Meisner and Timothy Schmit on backup vocals... 3 Eagles. Great song, legendary musicians

I had forgotten about this song. Great memory from the past.
Richard Marx has replied to me a few times on Twitter ‼️ He's hilarious, makes fun of his own music ‼️ One time I was in Jamestown ND, walked into a liquor store, they were playing this exact song!! He and I share a common language. Sarcasm. He's awesome.
Awwww ❤️
He brings back memories of my middle thru high school days! Great artist!

This man was iconic in the 80’s and 90’s
Joe Walsh from the Eagles did that slide solo. ❤
Watched a show some years ago with Joe Walsh talking about his life and work. The interviewer asked Joe about working on this track with Richard Marx. I love him 🙂
Great song. Marx began his career as a kid doing Peter Pan commercials! 😜😎🎶
Right Here Waiting was the slow song. Yes, he was definitely considered pop in the 80's, what we called Top 40 back then, pop was a pretty general category people were thrown into when they weren't metal or R&B. Huey Lewis and the News were also considered pop back then.
He is one of the best song writers all time. His first song he wrote at 19 for Luther Vandross.
Richard Marx has a ton of great songs.
Wow I'm showing up late but thanks for another richard marx tune reaction. Awesome song awesome reactions. Much love to you both.
Joe Walsh from the Eagles played guitar on this one. He then forgot he did it, and wondered who was playing his licks when he heard it on the radio.
I believe Joe Walsh of the Eagles was playing slide guitar on this track.
Sure sounds like Joe Walsh.
From Wiki: According to Marx's personal commentary about the song's origin, his manager at the time asked Joe Walsh to play slide guitar on the song and he agreed. @@kd8199You are absolutely correct. It is Joe Walsh

Several of the The Eagles members joined in on this song, including for background vocals and Joe Walsh on guitar
I didn't even realize that you guys had done a reaction to this song. And for some odd reason I had this song in my mind tonight and I just posted the song about an hour ago❤

It’s a radio hit - but it’s a straight up rock song
I thought of him as Soft Rock. His tempo was similar to Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp, and Rod Stewart and Chicago. I think on the radio today they list them as Adult Contemporary.
I like this song, but please react to Endless Summer Nights by Richard! That one brings back such wonderful romantic memories! ❤️❤️ Appreciate all your great reactions! Keep on keeping on!!
bought the CD just for this song (it was in the bargain bins anyway). That slippery slide guitar is played by the Eagles' Joe Walsh.
Next time react to his music video, it really explains the meaning of these lyrics.
Just about the perfect pop song. Sounded a little different and tight in…87? 88? Good times.
Have you done - endless summer nights by him. He has a lot of great tracks. Saw him few months ago. Still sounds great
Richard Marx "Children of the Night" song/video is a must to check out. Also check out WARRANT "Uncle Tom's Cabin" song/video. It's Awesome!!!
Remember the blonde lady dancer that had an abortion in Dirty Dancing! That was Richard Marx's 1st wife. I have no idea why l know this, my brain is filled with useless information 😁
Before I forget, he has a song I think both of you would like:
Keep Coming Back
Check out The Fabulous Thunderbirds - "Tuff Enough"

To whom she was married at the time.
It was Beautiful Goodbye with his second wife, Daisy Fuentes. His first wife, Cynthia Rhodes, was in Dirty Dancing as Penny, Patrick Swayze's dance partner. She was in this video.
He was pop
For those who do not know that the slide guitar player is none other than Joe Walsh.
You should react to Beck "Debra"
Trust no one and don’t sell your soul for fame.
It Does Mean Something 😉
He did a lot of ballads, but this isn't one of them. The songs you did before were from the same album as this song. The entire album was a gem. I think The Eagles, or a lot of the members of The Eagles helped him out with his career.
He's married to Daisy Fuentes of MTV fame.
Marx would go on to work with Luther Vandross, Barbra Streisand and many others.
I think Asia and I may be related. Do you have relatives from Texas?
This is one of his least best songs...a great artist, you would be blessed if you were to actually look through his discography.
Being a father, "Angel's Lullaby" is first. Being a husband and lover...you'll figure it out. ;-)
There will be a gathering of tears from this, which would fill every moment...his songs will make you cry.
