I must have done this recepie a hundred times. My special twist = double the curry powder and double the white vinegar. I usally make a lot and freeze it so i can use it whenever i like 😊
I always wondered what this tasted like. I tried your recipe tonight and it was fantastic over grilled sausages and French fries. (I think I liked it with the potatoes even more). Thanks so much.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. 👌 I was visiting a friend in Cologne while on holiday back in 2014. And he took me to a place to try it....wow that was so good. I was thinking about it the other day and google search led me to this TH-cam video. So I made the sauce served with bratwurst and fries. So yummy 😋 Thankyou 👍 all the way from 🇦🇺
Absolutely delicious, and much, much better than the ketchup-and-curry-powder versions!! Thank you so much!! Any chance of a recipe for hasenpfeffer?? There are a few different ones on TH-cam, but none that really sparkle!
Thank you so much. I currently don´t have a Hasenpfeffer recipe on my blog but I love the idea and will post the recipe in the coming months. Thank you for the lovely inspiration. Have a wonderful weekend.
I've never had currywurst but thought it looked delicious and I would make it eventually. Well, I tried this recipe today and it was so good! Definitely a sauce that I would keep on hand😁😋
This recipe is so close like i ever tasted in berlin imbiss long time ago .I miss it so much and today i made it..and its Lecker!!!Thank you so much from our family in Asia..I wonder for other german octoberfest food like champignon mushroom and buttersauce..will love to know how it make...
Wow! Thanks for posting. I did a version of this for my significant other, who lived in Germany a few years. Although, I did it a little unconventionally as a crockpot version.
👌 *That looks like "Tomato Chutney", rather than a sause. Anyway, it looked delicious. Yummy Currywurst chutney @ sause !* 😋 Chutney - from the Tamil word Chuttunu, meaning, faster, immediately, bistro. *Also the word Curry - from the Tamil word "Kari".*
I use regular curry powder that you can get from the supermarket. I have some curry powder from McCormick and some that I bought at an Indian grocery store. To be honest, I am not tasting much of a difference.
They probably used Maggi seasoning sauce in Berlin in 1949. Maggi is an international brand of seasonings, instant soups, and noodles that originated in Switzerland in 1886. Maggi seasoning sauce contains soy sauce.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Richard, I appreciate it. I fixed the link, you can reach the recipe here: alltastesgerman.com/curry-sausage. Hope you will enjoy!
Depends, many german brands have a lower sugar count than Heinz ketchup. Per 100g: Heinz has 22.8g Born has 14.7g Zeisner has 29.9g Werder has 17g Altenburger has 14g
Thrive Market (dot com) has unsweetened organic ketchup. Become a "member" and it's pretty cheap right now. Primal Kitchen brand is also unsweetened but very pricey.

We lived in Berlin in the mid 70's. I wanted to know if this is the same type sauce used on Pommes Frites that was so good? I bought Zeisner Curry Ketchup on Amazon.com. It was pretty close. I'm going to try this. thanks!

Thank you, that is wonderful, thank you for sharing this with me.
I finally made your currywurst recipe and it was a big hit!! My neighbor was grilling that day and I even gave him some to try on the grilled meats!
Wonderful! Thank you for giving the recipe a try. It´s really good on grilled meats, I do that sometimes too.
I always wondered what this tasted like. I tried your recipe tonight and it was fantastic over grilled sausages and French fries. (I think I liked it with the potatoes even more). Thanks so much.
This looks very simple and simple ingredients 👍 definitely will be using this recipe
Thank you for giving the recipe a try. It is really simple and the sauce is great to other grilled meats and sausages too.

That´s an amazing idea with the crockpot. Need to try that. Thank you for sharing!
Husband approved and better than anything you can get at Oktoberfest!
Du bist mein Liebling!

I wish more Americans knew about this wonderful dish. I'm crazy about it.
Me too, so yummy!
We will definitely want to try this. Looks yummy.
Please do! I love this recipe! Thank you for watching!
First tried it in that wee cafe next to the Reichstag, made it at work with smoked bratwurst, oof, thank you so much! 😅
This taste just like downtown Wiesbaden 🥰 I haven’t tasted such authentic German food in awhile! Thank you so much!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much, Alexis. 😍
This works well with frikadellen. Danke.
That´s a great idea. Never tried that, but I am sure it´s a winner. Thank you!
Thanks !!!
Currywurst for tonight
Wonderful! Guten Appetit!
Ist lecker, danke
I always thought that originally the currywurst also had a splash of wostershire sauce as well?
Until I'm able to travel to Berlin again, I'll have to try this :)
Great idea! It´s really easy and fast to make.
Danke schön!🤗
Yummm.
Thank you
What was the dark ingredient added directly after the ketchup?

I have always wanted to try this! Love curry but the sauces sold in stores contain aspartame which I am allergic too. Thank you for uploading this!
Thank you so much for watching! Love you comments! I hope you will try this recipe, it is super easy and really yummy :)
@@AllTastesGerman I bet it would be extra tasty with chips/fries.

Can you tell me what curry powder you use to sprinkle over the top please?
I use regular curry powder that you can get from the supermarket. I have some curry powder from McCormick and some that I bought at an Indian grocery store. To be honest, I am not tasting much of a difference.
@@AllTastesGerman Thank you
I don't think they had soy sauce in Berlin in 1949. But, it still looks good.

Recipe link is still broken - it goes to a oops page!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Richard, I appreciate it. I fixed the link, you can reach the recipe here: alltastesgerman.com/curry-sausage. Hope you will enjoy!
Balsamic and honey? Soy sauce! I was gonna add that anyway! And I get to use an emersion blender?! I am sincerely excited to try making this recipe.
Lecker!!
Dankeschön!
Zum Wohl!
I love curry ketchup
So this is just sausage cooked in a gravy of curry. As an Indian, this looks quite easy for me to prepare even though I don't cook much.
it´s a delicious sauce, you will like it
@@AllTastesGerman Certainly, we Indians eat curry daily.
Can you send me the recipe
Yes, sure, you can find the link to the printable recipe in the description
Danke schon!
It might be too spicy with the chili powder
Huh, funny. Berlin's football team has the same name as her. Hertha Berlin.
Yeah, that´s right, I never made that connection, very interesting. Thanks for the comment!
Why the honey is black?
it´s just the light.
Oba es is net a Leberkaas
Na, is es ned, aber sau guat
Ketchup must be different in Germany. No one could eat honey with ketchup and tomato paste. It would be too sweet.
These are small amounts, the sauce is not sweet. Ketchup tastes the same in Germany and the US. I used US ketchup

Ketchup + Curry powder = Sauce done
Sorry ... not as good !

I think you will like it, you can adjust the spices to your liking if it is different to the sauce you remember.
