LOVE this song like crazy, would love to hear you play more of these great contemporary hymns! So hard to find good clean yet "soulful" arrangements of these tunes that don't sound corny. So sad. THANK YOU!
So glad I found this! It was pure pleasure to practice singing it along with your beautiful playing. I am singing this piece as cantor at a memorial service this morning, and there will probably be no time to rehearse it at church beforehand. Thank you!
Very well done. Mark Hayes (arranger/pianist) has a very nice choral arrangement of this with some cool tweaks, might give you some additional ideas if you want to continue improvising on this song. For people who are looking for the sheet music for a basic arrangement, go to Giamusic, or sheetmusicplus.
This is so beautiful. Have you been in touch with GIA? They publish this in their hymnals. I would think they would love to have this arrangement and publish it. Maybe make a recording with you playing it, too.
@justinhaaheim Interesting, this video has been up for nearly two years and you're the only one to remark that this piece is by Haugen. The key and structure of the song is taken almost entirely from the original piece, despite some alterations here and there. I've taken your advice and credited Haugen.
Thanks so much. I will try those. I tend to use a capo when I sing. So do you mean that I will have a capo on the first fret and I will play the chord shapes of Em-C, etc? Or do you mean I will play the chord shapes of Fm-Db etc and they will actually be Em-C, etc?
Good rendition of the song! However, I do believe that the original arrangement exceeds this one. I probably only think it because its sound is very homely.
God is the best friend you could ever have: he is always by your side, he is forgiving, he understands you completely, and he's perfect.
Dear bro, I would say you are a musical genius to be able to play like this with out sheet music
My son sang this at mass from the age of seven to 13 when he graduated from the school. I cry nonstop when I hear this.
very nice dude. the only time I ever hear this song is at the odd funeral, this is used as the Psalm reading
A gift from God
that's really good. Almost to tears
WOW! Excellent!

(with capo on 1) Em-C-G-D-Bm7-C-Am7-Bm7-Em-Am/E-Em7-A/E
