My family made sure I caught American Bandstand in B/W when I was a rug crawling ankle biter. And I have passed this love of doo wop to my daughter like you love coming home.
This show was produced in May of 1999. Jocko passed in July 2000. This interview was edited down for this video. When I get the chance I'll edit and post the entire interview.
As Always D'Antonio already pointed out, the lead could be much better, on both songs. The first tenor is excellent and the bass is also excellent as is the group's harmony. Nevertheless, I like it especially, There Goes My Love.
Great. Show many memories street. Corner 5. Has tight harmony. I could listen to. Them all all day. They are the essence of the gifts sound. Top shelf. Thanknyou
The lead voice is flat on this take and a bit out of sync in trying to stretch his tenor on the higher notes. However, the brief appearance of Jocko Henderson a year before his untimely death makes it all the more worthwhile. As a note: interesting that one of the male tenors does the falsetto part in 'There Goes My Love' as opposed to the female member of the group!#@
Good stuff! Thanks. Harvey had a slamming oldies radio show WDAS FM. 60tys &70tys. And jockco was the Bomb in NY &Philly like 60ty yr or more ago.
Great rendition of the Fantastics hit.
