In the ships or vessels, the only place were the crew eat is in the Crew Mess. And this video is a tour to what a crew mess looks like in cruise ships.

I’m an ex crew of Celebrity C. (4 contracts) I was a 1st pastry cook there. It’s been 9 yrs since I left the cruising industry and I miss the action, my travels and etc. I still dream about it from time to time. I’ve now settled in Europe. Land base seems to agree with me better, money wise I earn better at Celebrity bec the high cost of living here.
Hi @Hua Yue! Wow!! I am so pleased to knkw about your story. I too would like to settle already in landbase. I just ended my fifth contract. And I am sooo tired already. I cant stay long in the galley anymore.. anyway how did u end up in europe? How did u apply there. Been really wanting to applyto australia or europe too but in europe i just dont know how and where to apply. I belong in the hot kitchen.
@@GellBalacuit Landbase is the best, during the height of the pandemic the F. & B. world was forced to shut down. We got allowances for everything even the house rent / mortgage from the government. Free healthcare but hence the high tax rate. I can relate to you, on my 4th / last contract I had been fainting in the main galley several times (I requested to be transferred there bec the pastry slot is rarely in demand in the land base sector). So now I’m well versed in the hot, cold & esp. pastry. Since everybody ages, you would want a secured pension from somewhere when the time comes.
I would highly suggest Australia, 1st of all the language there is english & I’m sure you’d be able to pass your IELTS w/ flying colours. Plus, it’s nearer PH so the travel time & the plane ticket is cheaper especially if you have kids or elderly parents. Ticket payment for landbase is K.K.B. but hey, you can petition them later on when settled. I don’t advise you to choose EU because in my experience & observation you have to learn their language if you want to land a good culinary related job or you’ll just end up as a cleaner or eventually be thrown in an agency w/ no perks / benefits. The studies are for free but being a working student for 2 yrs isn’t advisable. Look up ETS agency for AU, they have a huge placement fee but I know a handful of ex colleagues that they had sent there.

Hi. About to start working on a cruise ship. Could you tell me if the food over there has MSG, maggie, ajinomoto, or any other artificial flavour enhancers?
@Bence Belá, hi! With all honesty yes. They use beef base, chicken basea and others taht is similar to our flavour enhancers back home.. after all, thats how they enhance the flavour of the food, but not all dishes use this artificial flavours.. others are really using original stock from meats or veggies..

How do you tend to your braces while out at sea?
Hi @onedontv8690! How u doin? Hope everything is good there. My braces was self-ligating, so i didnt have to do any maintenance at sea. Just when i got home, thats the time my dentist would adjust it. Self-ligating does its own movement while im away working. Hehe thank u for asking..

@kimberly anoche yes po self ligating po sya, only 2 years but supposes to be 1 yr lang. Inextend po ung sakin.. yes, allowed naman po sya, pero pagdental na, naghahanap sila ng certificate

Hi! No sir, there are no dentists onboard and no clinics. Mine is self ligating.. so i dont have to worry for 8 months.. i dont have braces anymore now.. hehehe.. my teeth are all good.. thank u for asking
