    I've never been much of a fan of the Fu Dog, as a design, but, you actually made this one aesthetically pleasing to me. Great Job as always.

    Hey man, I really love your work, Im wondering where you got started drawing japanese traditional? Did you teach yourself? Im trying to get started and these videos are all I really have to go off of, its hard to find guides and lessons for this stuff

      Hey man, honestly I had a really good Mentor when I was an apprentice and he taught me a lot. The rest is self taught.
      I would just look at a lot of reference material from guys like Horiyoshi iii. Old school japanese. Start by copying their designs, even tracing them to get a feel for the linework.

    quick question. was looking at statues of foo dogs. and noticed they dont have stashes or really beards . any clue why they are in drawing/ tattoos? or did i miss it on the statues. prob easiest way to show hair and design looks wise i assume. just something i noticed. 32yo always been in to drawing and tattoos. bought cheap machine to practice with. thanks for all the help. just added you on Instagram just made it

      Hey mate, to be honest, I'm not 100% sure on this one. I assume it has a lot to do with how various things can and are commonly represented in different mediums, carving big stone statues without beard and stash maybe easier? it also comes down to variations in the depictions of the creatures, foo dogs, just like dragons and others are very common across asian countries, however each of them have variations in how they're depicted visually and within their lore. so I assume this plays a big role in the way they're designed. Hope that helps :)

    What pen do you use for the line art? I’m struggling to find a pen that won’t bleed once I start painting
    Great tutorial!

      micron pens are good👍

    • @DaggetDesigns
      @DaggetDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to find alcohol based pens. They bleed if they are water based because you’re using water to blend with. Try Sakura Micron, copic fine liners, uni pin liners, artline finetip or schdeidler pens. All work well

    I’ve followed a couple of your drawings and they have come out really good. Especially the lotus one. Love the orange yellow the the dark black in it. Could you do a samurai cat. I’ve seen some online. It can have the armor or just the kimono.
