    I'm a Jeep guy, and I'll say Toyota did a good job....got me considering this because I dislike what they did with the Cherokee. Definitely need an SUV for these Chicago winters, especially this past one

      We also love Jeeps as well, but have to agree that Toyota did a good job here. If they upgrade the engine with more power, it'd be even better.

    I have a RAV4 2021.. I enjoy driving it since it feels like an actually suv and not a crossover. Is great for me.
    I also have the big brother 4Runner..
    Anyone who has a RAV4 will like it. Great vehicle to own.

    We bought this exact RAV4 in January, and on our first road trip averaged 32+ mpg. We're looking forward to taking it on some adventurers. Sometimes the 2.5L feels a little underpowered but I've learned the smaller engine operates better at a higher RPM than I am used to. Give it a little gas and it goes just fine.

      Run it in sport mode and drive it hard since it's still new. That will train the ECU to your driving requirements. My V6 will crawl around and shift slow when I baby it, however if I get in a mood to roll it will respond more quickly after a couple miles of hard driving and it's like a different car. My wife owns the 2013 RAV4 2.5 and honestly it powers through the hills with no issue whatsoever. Hers is only 176hp but after the 1st oil change it will perform better. (Do not do 10k miles on your oil break-in!)7500 mile intervals are pushing it regardless of what Toyota says. I run 89 octane a lot in both cars and they're quieter and more responsive on the throttle and I honestly can say my MPG goes up. Good luck with your new car! It sure does look nice and feel free to check my videos of my 2 out.

    I drove in heavy snow ice covered road (NM 550) yesterday., saw a lot cars spinning front of my rav4 adventure. My car is just steady forward, good thing it comes with PCA(Pre collision alarm or brake). RAV 4 even automatically brake itself before hit spinning car.. pretty impressive( I was driving 70 miles on icy roads, not to encourage everyone driving this speed on icy roads, study shows driving icy roads should not over 45 miles /hour)

    Are you guys aware that this dynamic torque vectoring system makes a very loud “clank,clank” when it disengages itself in normal and eco mode? If you own an adventure or limited model RAV (2019 model) you will hear this (as you brake and are coming to a stop at around 18-20 mph in a relatively quiet neighborhood or environment) if you roll down your windows (noise can’t be heard with windows up). I’m disappointed to say the least and really hope that Toyota will address this and find a fix.

    Just bought a second hand version of this vehicle (we are in 2021), except it's the "Trail" trim instead of "Adventure". I can see now that the differences are very slim. The only one being the rear mirror which I doesn't have the camera view. The rest is pretty much the same. Great car so far, I love it. Only thing I agree with is the engine which could be a little more powerful. But overall, quite amazing car. Thanks for the video,.

      Seeing as how Chicago is as flat as a pancake, we didn't really have that opportunity, but the RAV4 Adventure did handle pretty deep snow drifts with no issues at all.

      @@SonsofSpeed well why you have not filmed those ? what is the point in filming your face in car review? your video title says rav4 2019 in snow, all i saw is interior , engine shots, some snow on hood and your face.... Title is clickbate, sorry but I have to dislike your video as it brings zero value with that title.
      Next time film how it accelerates in snow from outside, find some piles of snow for diagonal test in slippery conditions, that will equal to uphill starts etc.

    • @appliancenet1
      @appliancenet1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Alexander... wow, tough crowd! In the video that I watched there was an acceleration test and the drifting in the parking lot shows how well balanced the AWD system is and how easy it is to modulate and control the vehicle. Sure, a slalom would of been nice to see, but what you are asking for is to show how well the actual tires perform, not the AWD system itself.

    I keep seeing these new cars come out with the infotainment system located above the air vents. Why have they chosen this location? Doesn’t heat rise? I would think that this would decrease the life span of the electronics. I love the new RAV4, but I won’t be getting one anytime soon. At least until they move that infotainment system back into the dash board.
    Fun review, thanks!!

      Thank you, Chris! What Toyota would say is that they want to get the screen as far up as possible so you as a driver don't have to look too far down (and thus take your eyes further off the road) to view it.

    Thanks for the video; I am seriously thinking of buying one. It would be interesting to test the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid model due out next month in the snow. It doesn't have the same driver mode selection the "Adventure" model does. Just normal/eco/sport and one for "Trail" or something. Nothing specifically for snow/dirt/gravel like the adventure does. Also the AWD is much more front wheel biased as you spoke of in the Adventure; it (the hybrid) only will send power from the electric motors to the rear wheels. The gas engine can only send power to the front wheels. It does however deliver more aggregate horse power ~219HP with faster acceleration & much greater fuel economy especially in the city. Look forward to you testing that model when it becomes available.

    • @SonsofSpeed
      @SonsofSpeed  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Zeyphod45 Zeyphod45 thank you! As soon as we can get a hybrid model in our test stable, we’ll bring you that review!

    • @valdius85
      @valdius85 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is not exactly as negative as you have mentioned.
      Some reviewers said that hybrid version is less front wheel bias than ordinary AWD version on tarmac.
      There is no LSD type mechanism in the rear.
      The power is limited to 60-ish BHP, unfortunately the combustion engine has to give the electrical power so the front wheels will spin more often.
      I am very curious how the eAWD eCVT does in the snow. I am thinking about purchacing that car. Hybrids have some positives I want: like AC with the engine off - it is hot where I live.
      Looking forward for your hybrid review :)

    • @artieartya
      @artieartya 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just a heads up, the selector knob for the snow/dirt/gravel etc is with the TVAWD/torque vectoring and you'll find that in both the adventure as standard, and limited as option, and soon to be TRD off road coming. if it does not have the selector knob, then it's not TVAWD.

      What is you response to this: "Although the 2019 Forester received more power, the 182-hp 2.5-liter flat-four is underpowered. At the track, the 2019 Forester finished the 0-60 run in 9.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 17.3 seconds at 82.3 mph. This makes the Forester one of the slowest cars in its class, and you feel it every time you prod the accelerator." www.motortrend.com/cars/subaru/forester/2019/2019-subaru-forester-first-test-review/

    • @ZeyphodZeyphod
      @ZeyphodZeyphod 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grant you it "probably" handles better in snow than the Hybrid Toyota Rav4; but factor into it greater fuel economy 39 (combined) for the RaV4 vs 26 city 33 HW for the Forester. "As we found out during our testing at SUV of the Year, the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid XSE went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, an improvement from the 7.8 seconds it took the 2016 model in our testing." and "Toyota's new hybrid SUV is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit producing 176 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. That engine is mated to an electric motor sending 118 hp and 149 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels and 54 hp and 89 lb-ft to the rear wheels for a combined system output of 219 hp, more than the last-gen hybrid's 194 hp and the 2019 non-hybrid's 203 hp. So allot more horses 219 vs 182 and about 2 seconds faster acceleration from 0-60mph & much better fuel economy.

      Zeyphod45 Zeyphod45 yeah that’s my one big complaint about the forester. Although I’m not sure how important speed is going to be to the vast majority of the segment looking at the forester as we’re all well aware that it’s not exactly a sports car. I agree that it’s underpowered but I think that the pros sorta outweigh the cons when it comes to storage space, and all of the amenities that come with it. BUT that gap in fuel economy between the forester and upcoming hybrid RAV4 is HUGE and will probably eat into Subaru’s bottom line and will definitely factor into some people’s decisions. So I dunno. But I still think that the RAV4 is grossly overpriced and that Toyota could have chosen to give its consumers a break. Good points though...

    • @ZeyphodZeyphod
      @ZeyphodZeyphod 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks...a price for the Hybrid RAV4 (admittedly nicely loaded) with the higher trim line was quoted in one of the reviews I saw @ ~38K; think that is probably several thousand more than even a comparatively loaded Forester. Since the Hybrid hasn't hit the showrooms yet (supposedly in March) I will wait until then to see the real prices. Acceleration is important for passing/lane changing/on-ramps onto HW's etc. as I am sure you know, but it just adds to the overall enjoyment of the ride experience IMHO. The elephant in the room you didn't mention with the Hybrid is replacement cost for the large expensive battery. Understand they typically last 5-8 years give or take, and I have heard prices of 5K to around 8K or even higher. That just might negate the mpg advantage, I don't know. I typically buy my cars new and keep them for >10yrs; so an issue for me. I also drive 26 miles to work one way and like the less frequent fill ups the Hybrid would give me.
