With Episode 6 on the horizon for NA, I have repeatedly been watching this video to capture the way you have played this class with Katana and it is insane. People constantly tell me that the Katana is the weakest weapon for the class and that Rod is the best but when I see this video, it just disproves so many things people told me about it. I wanna play this class the way you have played it but in my own style. Also, you still got it with the music when I watch these videos!!
They aren't wrong, Rod really is in a class of its own, with katana being the weakest of the 3 weapons, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it or become skillful at it. If you Like a weapon then use it, its pretty much that simple. They only mean that when it comes to Min-Maxing damage, Rod is quite ahead of Katana and Rifle.
NGS has a LONG way to go, gameplay wise, before supporting any class even half the depth of Phantom. I do hope they bring my class to NGS, but if they did anytime soon, there would still be nothing to do with it that that, like with Slayer and all the other classes.
How do you shift so well? Err dodging i mean, do you use hot keys/key bind and what would recommend for phantom users? Thanks in advance, I just started playing phantom 2 days.
@@user-dj8ql8is7b Hey Q, regardless of which version of PSO2 you are playing (NA or Japan), I recommend getting mags in the following order: Strike (Melee)>Dex>Ranged>Tech. I recommend tech last since the only class that uses pure tech mag is Force. So just make sure you get your mags in that order. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Your moves are really tricky in normal speed, I slowed it and studying your tricky moves like moving on enemy's back using the action button , then use non shift PA without triggering the shift PA. Normal attack is indeed the canceller of shift PA, it's just I need to be more familiarize on my moves.
when i was soloing this with bouncer db the last boss was a problem for me cause it was 1v2. took me a lot of tries there but eventually did it. good times.

Hey, do you think phantom katana is a bit lacking in DPS? I used to main katana ph but after experimenting quite a lot (and wasting lot of resources) I found out that rod is the best weapon for ph (for me). Katana ph imo, 1. quick cut is really good but it's just too clunky and slow to activate it after pa animation. It also doesnt help that the weapon action dmg is dealt at the end of animation, leaving you exposed without and sometimes you just need to execute shifted pa quickly the slash doesnt even have a chance to come out. Katana weapon action is the only one to do this while other weapon action can deal dmg without having to wait until end of animation 2. Best damage/pp PA is folter zeit, but it doesn't deal as much dps as other meta melees (fi/hu/br), forces you and the enemy to stand still to deal max dmg and max dmg is dealt at the end of animation, exposing you for almost 2 seconds. 3. Best dps pa is rose schwertz, while it allows for fast dodging and guard frame at start, it dis-position you from possibly good spot and might not hit the spot you're locking on. It also doesnt have cancelation window after thrusting forward, meaning you can get hit while thursting forward without a way to dodge. 4. While countering might deal a lot of dmg, counter can be done with other weapons as well, and counter multiplier of katana ph being highest doesnt really impact much, bcs out of all three weapons katana has the lowest base damage. So after some testing as much as I love katana ph I'd have to say in my opinion that katana ph is 'high risk low reward' where you need to put yourself close to the enemy but you cant really deal as much dmg as a melee class should. On the other hand, rod ph can deal dmg consistently from long and short range, a lot better in mobbing/bossing, can inflict status effects that might affect certain bosses (my poison dmg for stage 30DQ to caterdran is 1million/tick), have faster tech charge, have a 1sec while charging tech, recovers about 7pp for each enemy in front with 'shooting' tech e.g. ilgrants, and counter does a lot of dmg as well... So not hating on ph katana, agility in terms of moving from one place to the other it's top notch, I just want to ask your opinion and probably some tips to mastering it since you seem really good. Thanks and sorry for the long rant.
PH Rod is just obscenely powerful compared to the other two options. Halved charge times, a better Tech Charge Parry, and the marker system combined is kinda nuts. Has the option to very accurately hitscan hard-to-hit targets while other classes would struggle to hit a weakpoint. That said, I think Phantom Katana feels very smooth to play with enough practice. It's a learning curve for sure, but I think it can do very similar damage to other weapon types and classes.
Yeah, I really wish ph katana and rifle to receive a bit more attention, I also like rifle and katana but when I think I'm not contributing enough to the fight it kinda lets me down. I guess what matters is you enjoy yourself, thanks for the opinion!
@@JB-iv8ym The Zamlord shoulders are from an sg scratch we haven't gotten yet in NA. The Saphaigilias and Gilias Visor hasn't been released yet and when it does I don't think we'll get the Steel one off the bat judging by the number of variant outfits and outerwear we don't have. Wild Muffler is Wild Scarf in NA and after the revival scratch it's a little more attainable from the player shops.
@@spyro5223 Sorry for the late response, I didn't get a notification lol Phantom Step Shift makes any PA you cast during a step into its "Phantom Shift" variant. This means you can use something like Wolkenkrazter Shift (the kick shot thing) very quickly without needing to press the shift action button beforehand. It's about on-par with Lock-On Marker Bomb in terms of necessity on rifle and katana Phantom in terms of how badly you'll want it, but for rod it's not as important (because rod PAs aren't really that good lol).

You're gonna want Marker Bomb and Phantom Step Shift, though if you have to pick only one, Phantom Step Shift is more important.
