Mirajane and her siblings all do *Take Over* magic where they on the qualities of creatures they came across, Lisanna is *Animal Soul* , Elfman is *Beast Soul* and Mirajane is Satan Soul where she takes the form of an actual demon.
Mirajane Strauss wasn’t called the She-Devil for no reason.

On the topic of Mirajane being "possessed" by a demon, it's actually the other way around. Takeover magic allows the user to possess another being, taking on their form and magic in the process, though sometimes personalities are changed when using said magic, like when Elfman went berserk using Beast Soul. Lisanna and Elfman practice the same kind of magic, only with animals and monsters instead. Demon Mirajane is just a nickname like Erza's Titania and Natsu's Salamander.
Of course, Mirajane having Satan Soul means that she managed to defeat and possess a demon at some point. So yeah, Mirajane is scary. :)
It is also the type of magic the Vulcans use. The monster from episode 2
So basically she is the demon
To use full body takeover you have to defeat the thing you want to use it on so that means Mira actually defeated the satan soul at some point
Technically I don't know if she defeated it. I forgot what happened in the episode that explained her backstory

They also hate mira and they're saying that she's weak... Well mira just didn't use all her demon form because she don't want to hurt anyone.. And if she trained all her demon form mirajane must be stronger like gildarts
I think Jamie forgot that Mira Jane was an S Class Wizard the same level as Erza. Those two were rivals, so of course Mira would be equally scary when angry.

Mirajane such an underrated character. Its undeniable that both side of her is amazing. If I am not mistaken she is a S rank level. One of the best waifu.

Just in this battle she got out of control... But Mira really can use this transformation whenever she want, mira's Take Over let her use demons souls. There is a reason why she is in the same level as Erza.
She couldn't before this fight. It needed this trauma to activate it again.
Mira wasnt active for 2 years so they are not on the same level, Erza Is much stronger now.
:) Actually Mira and both her siblings use (various types of) takeover magic. So, Mira isn’t being possessed by a demon, she is the one who took over a demons soul. And she can use it whenever she wants. But ever since Lisanna died she doesn’t like to fight anymore. But yeah Mira does demon soul takeovers, Elfman does beast soul takeovers, and Lisanna did takeovers of animal souls.
It's because she no longer trusted her magic as it had already failed her before.
Mirajane is the only Fairy Tail wizard who can offer Erza a legit challenge aside from Makarov, Mystogen, and Laxus. I'd even contend Mira could beat Erza.
Erza has less raw power but more versatility and skill.
Naah I like Mirajane more than Plotza, however Erza has better feats. Mirajane couldnt beat Tree guy while Erza could beat a stronger Tree guy. Mirajane in the Tartaros arc lost to someone who's below the one Erza fought. This is even worse when we look at the final arc when Mirajane needed to go full power against 2 "minions" while Erza was able to keep up with the boss(Im being vague as much as possible since it's spoiler ofc).
Mirajane simply cant keep up with Erza mainly because Erza is part of the main cast and for unknown reason her growth and her "Friendship"/plot power grows at a much higher rate compared to Mirajane.

Juvias sacrifice really hit me the first time watching it, and I’m glad you felt it too. It showed she didn’t just join Fairytail for gray but to be apart of a great guild that accepted her ( well gray was 50% the reason)

You know... re-watching these with you I noticed how much Bixlow was holding back against guild members. I mean he didn't use his soul magic to the full ability even once. He could have went straight for his opponent's souls and he didn't, guess he never really saw them as true enemies.
Same with Freed. He didn’t lead Mirajane into his traps/runes. He fought fairly when he could have fought dirty

I will always come to freed's defence because his love and appreciation for laxus is more than that of fairy tail. Not to mention he was the only of the thunder god tribe that actually tried to talk laxus out of it. Freed even said he didn't want to do it but he felt like he had no choice but he did it because it's what laxus wanted. Also Freed after this arc is the sweetest.

She actually needed to in this fight.
The trauma of losing Lisanna made her unable to use her powers. And the trauma of possibly losing Elfman too made her able to tap into her powers again.

Ep 45 is probably my favorite in the entire anime, I just love Mirajane so much. And Everyone is always shook when they see her fight Freed. I love that you caught that she was about to completely wreck him, most people are just like "She should punch him" without realizing that she was about to lose control.^^
And yeah, Mira is so sweet... right after beating someone senseless :P

this is a really cool episode. i think a lot of anime would just have the women be taken hostage and leave it at that. this episode has all the women get freed and they each have their own special moment to shine. bisca, levy, erza, juvia, lucy and mirajane!
Mira and Elfman both have Takeover magic, she takes over demons and he takes over monsters.
It'll be a couple of arcs before Gajeel's true reasons come to light.
Right, and on addition to that every Strauss sibling can use Take Over (I don't think this can be considered spoiler) so that means Lisanna could too.

mira and elfman have same magic power called Take Over but different type, elfman as Beast Soul (he can transform into beast forms like what you saw in phantom arc), mira as Satan Soul (she can transform into demon forms)... btw they can transform at their own will

This was the episode where I really fell in love with Mirajane. Not just the power she has, but the kindness and mercy. It's quite rare to find someone so genuinely kind, especially while being so terribly powerful.

Nah dude we’ve already seen take over magic a couple of times so saying that would only make sense
This made Mira such an amazing and complex character. Hid her power because it was a painful reminder of what killed Lisanna, while showing how she changed her entire personality just to feel close to Lisanna. I never once thought they wasted her character, as her PTSD turned her into someone that didn't need to be one of the 'powerful' wizards; even though she truly was.
Mirajane vs Freed is one my most favorite fight in the whole anime
Mirajane had that power since she was young but she was afraid from using her powers cuz the last time she used it Lisanna died and she never used it since that day just like Elfman with his full body take over

It's much better than a long battle full of endless talk. Long battles also often becomes boring. Some long battles are good tho.
she promised not to use magic again after lisanna died. She promised it to herself kinda gave it up... she also uses take over magic like elfman but hers is on a different level, so at some point in her past she took over satans soul and thats how she got that magic ability. It got awakened because she just lost control of herself, couldnt stand seeing elfman in pain, but it dosnt get triggered by emotions.

Oh shoot, did I catch up already on the reactions. I was gonna rewatch fairy tail but I decided I should just rewatch it while watching reactors. It's so weird to watch Fairy Tail from the very start and now that I look at it the art style/animation is slightly different and they look younger than in the finale. ;-; I miss it every day. I hope you enjoy watching this anime because this is my favorite anime of all time. I look forward to your future reactions!

THAT'S WHY MIRAJANE IS MY FAVORITE FUCKING CHARACTER EVER AND THAT'S ON A PERIOD
Mira was already an S-class Wizard even back on her "punk" days. She was already very powerful and could use her Take Over: Satan Soul even as a teen. Back then, when Elfman tried taking over the beast form he has now, he lost control. It was too powerful for him. Mira was trying to fend him off but she couldn't go all out because she didn't want to hurt him. Their youngest sibling, Lisanna, believed that she could talk him down, so she tried, mere seconds before Elfman took a full swing on her, "killing her" on the spot. That accident took its toll on them, especially to Mirajane. After that, Mira suffered from a sever trauma. She lost all her will to fight, which lead to a huge decline on her magical powers, and she regressed to a softer demure she has now. She also stopped accepting quests and just started working as an assistant at the guild.
The incident with Freed trying to kill Elfman triggered this trauma, which caused her to snap. Just like that, all her magic has returned for fear of losing another sibling.
Loke uses Fist of the Beast King. It’s super effective. 😂
FT need more backstory of Mirajane. Like how she take over the satan soul, Strauss, Halphas and Sitri

about "she's like a demon or something" its called "Satan Soul" with that she really takes the form of a demon and even gets their powers there is an episode where she takes the form called "Demon Halphas" which is WAY more Powerful then you see in the episode you watched in this episode like elfman said in the halphas form she wiped out an entire city like it was nothing so to put it simple if she had used demon halphas instead of satan soul she would have killed freed when the fight with the satan soul started beut because we know japanese guys want to make an anime longer then it needs to be they made her use the satan soul otherwise they couldnt have explained where and how she got that
YES! The episode that shows why you don't piss off Mirajane
Mira was ALWAYS a sweetheart. When she was a kid she saved a town from a demon by possessing it and people in town called her a demon, eveyone was scared of her except her brother and sister. So Mira started so hate her powers. They came to Fairy Tail and the guildmaster told Mira it was just magic and that she was no demon, her brother and sister also got to lean takeover magic to make Mira feel better. After the thing with the city she saved, she never let anyone in and that's why she was an emo brat. Then her brother lost control over his takeover and killed his and Miras little sister. After that she REALLY hated takeover magic and didn't want to ever use it again. The guild members was still nice after the little sister died and Mira stoped being a brat. When Freed was about to kill her brother, her fear of loosing him was grater that her hate of her power and she put Freed down. Fun fact: Mira is so sweet that when she is useing her powers she amost never goes all out if other people are around, because she doesn't want to scare anyone. Mira is also S class. Never piss off the she-devil.

The takeover magic require a strong will to control it otherwise they will go berserk. As you can see she almost kill Freed at the end.

to be clear: the whole thing with Lisanna is what caused the issues with both Mirajane's and Elfman's magic. Elfman was limited to his right arm, and Mirajane could barely use magic at all after that incident. Elfman got his full-body magic back, and now Mirajane got her magic back as well, which is a big deal because she's a contender for second-strongest mage in FT (outside of the master of course)
Honestly, not including Makarov, Mirajane and Erza are like the 4th or 5th strongest Fairy Tail members
Mirajane power is called takeover it's same thing has the power Elfman has she just happens to be about 1000 times more powerful
After LisaAnna died she basically shutdown and couldn't bring herself to fight anymore until now

Still, he managed to give a bit of a fight. To be honest, he's probably the strongest non-S-Class Fairy Tail Wizard at this point. I don't see base Natsu, Gajeel or Gray defeat him 1 on 1 in this arc.

its not kinda a possession, that is a slight demonstration of her power, its just she doesnt like using her power cuz she is super powerful
Mira Jane is powerful, but Freed is low key powerful too. He’s the strongest of Laxus’ subordinates and Ezra considered him good enough for S-Rank missions.
Mirajane is like the mother of fairytail: normally sweet and loving but will rip your fucking eyes out if you ever put baby in a corner.
I forgot how much Fairy Tail hit the feels. I would watch DBZ, Bleach, FMA and Trigun. Once I gave fairy tail a shot I got into waaaaay more anime
