- You bought a Ridstar Q20 or H20, now what to do with it? This is the question that people often ask because, in its stock form, several things are subpar for the bike to be truly enjoyed and reliable. In this video, I review what I think needs to be addressed.
I will be adding links this week.
I'm about to order mine, this is perfect timing
Just got one yesterday. Love it.
Very well done video, thank you. You are well spoken. Appreciate all the helpful advice. And I’ve done a lot of research on flat out and it is truly amazing. I bought some.
Thank you for the compliment.
every time I watch your review of the ridstar I get concerned that your going to tell me something horrifying about my purchase😅
😆 The bike is doing great. Ride safe.
I just got it and I could perfectly fit on it at 4’11
Very good video i don't understand the English very well yet but you explain to me and make me undestand few of the little problems that this bike has!!! Good luck 🍀🤞
I will try to do more to help you understand me. More pictures?
Ride safe.
@@Ridstar_Q20 yes pictures it was the first i was thinking of ✌️
Might be a good conversation to discuss how e-bike regulation will/wont affect our ride😮
We added torque arms. The tabbed washers stripped out the axle. Too much power for just the washers.
Thank you for reinforcing what I was saying. Ride safe.
They got a newer version of flatout it's called quick strike..I believe it's only available on their website..it works 100 times better than the basic flatout..
Love the vids, have you ever bought or heard of anyone buying an extra battery for the q20 off their website? I bought one and haven’t been sent the tracking number and it has me worried
I have not heard of anyone buying a battery from Ridstar.
Hello sir I just order my bike after watching all your reviews thank you for helping me choose a bike I just wanted to ask you if you think there’s a way to add a fishing rod holder on this? I would love to take it to the beach
Im going to order mine next week i know exactly what upgrades i want suspension
Great video! 🤙
How is it for actual cycling? Throttles are illegal here so I’m hoping to use it in the highest peddle assist and basically ghost peddle to work..
In my opinion, terrible for pedaling. The seat height relative to the pedals is too close and the width of the seat forces you to spread your legs wide - not a natural mechanical motion. And living in a place where throttle are illegal has gotten other riders in trouble. As much as I love the bike, I would tell you this is NOT the bike for you.
@@Ridstar_Q20 what about your other bike from Alibaba. The yolin bike? Which is better for pedaling? Thanks for replying.
I'm 15 years old geting one within the next month, I can't wait, I'm just wondering we're around the same weight, how hard is it to go up hills
Depending on the steepness of the hill, going over a highway overpass on just electric it will drop it from 25 mph to 15-18 mph. These are the few times that I will pedal and it's no problem with the assistance of the bike to maintain 23 mph. The biggest takeaway is to be gentle with your bike. Ride safe.
Great video.
Thanks
What is the official website
where did you get the bottle holder??
where can I get tires for the ebike?
Is this bike smart to buy for a town area, I’d like a bike to go from work and back about 10 ish miles both ways and wondering if this would be a smart bike and would last me a while
I think it is a good purchase. Baby it and take care of it.
How many pairs do I get for the brake pads if I buy the $35 one from Ridstar's website?
I just had the phone holder short out on me with a whole bunch of smoke did this happen to you too? Already in contact with support line. I heard you say the phone holder sucks but didnt know what your meant till now i dont think. EDIT: I took the seat off the bike and seens all the plugs I fixed it and took off the janky phone holder. Support still hasnt gotten back to me its been about 1 day lol.
are there tubes you reccomend for q20 pro?
I don't have a specific tube that I like, but anything seems to be better than the stock. Most importantly, purchase some Flatout to put in your tubes. Ride safe and keep the rubber down.
My hub motor makes this noises as i reach 21 mph and disappears after 25mph. The sound is like the rear wheel is making contact with the ground and then stops every second and repeats. Do you know what’s causing this?
I would upgrade the motor controller and Battery next
If you know of a compatible upgraded controller then please share the link.
@@Ridstar_Q20 oh yes I learned a lot from my first e-bike I pretty much rebuilt it from the ground up it's not that hard once you do it you just got to know what wire goes where have a wiring diagram of both parts or just the controller at least and make sure controller voltage matches battery you can go a little bit higher but check your controller
@@Ridstar_Q20 but with q20 I have now sometime next year or this year I am going to upgrade it I'm just saving parts in my shopping list I was thinking that 8000 Watt Hub motor with controller the bike wheel is 19 inches or I can get a 3000w same size tire for the bike
Please ensure that your controller is compatible with the new battery when selecting an e-bike kit. For instance, a 48-volt battery would work well with a 48-volt controller, and a 52-volt battery is also an option. However, it's crucial to verify that your controller can support the chosen battery voltage. While the hub motor should generally be fine, I'm not aware of any specific limitations. Some individuals have even successfully used a 72-volt battery and controller without issues. However it's always good to know what is your motor limitations you just got to experiment
@@Ridstar_Q20I'm building my own battery and have ordered a new gearless motor but I went with a spintend vesc also going 72v
I bought the mirrors but can't screw into the hole on the brake levers it's too big I think I should have got the adapter part
If you bought the same then there should be adaptors. Otherwise, return it for missing parts.
Have you gotten messed with by police since its a 1000w 30mph ebike? (or motorized vehicle like they prefer to call it.)
I have never been bothered. Not acting stupid, i don't expect them to bother me. However, I NEVER zoom pass anyone and slow down and greet people.
@@Ridstar_Q20 I see, thanks for the info!
So my washers weren’t lined up and my wires got chewed I only have a back motor what should I do
The same thing happened to mine. I stripped the wires and then soldered the wires back together. My motor is working now. Definitely get torque arms for this bike.
these bike comes with tork arms 2 off them on the rear
They come with tabbed washers, not an arm. A torque arm is a metal bar that extends out from the axle to the frame of the bike and secures to the frame.
Ride safe.
@@Ridstar_Q20mine doesn't have the typical washer one that I find on other bikes or my electric scooters
@@Ridstar_Q20should i get two torque arms for the rear or just one and how can you tell if you have broken planetary gears
And does this bike have eyelets because the grin v5 is made for bikes with threaded eyelets and the grin v6 is made for bikes without threaded eyelets
@@Long_John_Silver you should use 2 torque arms in my opinion. The dropout isn't good on this bike
