Trying Maximalism in Cardmaking

- I’m sharing card ideas inspired by maximalism. This video is also a part of the Four Petal Inspiration Instagram Hop by Spellbinders - / yana.smakula .
More is more when it comes to maximalism. More color, more layers, more elements, more detail, more patterns. It doesn’t mean that you just add a bunch of stuff to your card and leave it there. No, there are still rules to follow, and you still have to make sure your design is pleasing to the eyes, but generally, maximalism is where you need not be afraid to add more. You can use bold colors, you can make a busy card, you can have lots of variety and it will still look appealing.

Those are gorgeous Yana. I do like the black the best. It makes the colors stand out the most. But, they are all beautiful!
LOVE the cards. The black one is also my favorite. Loving this die, because the main branch in one large piece. I don't like die with too many tiny pieces, this one looks like it's very manageable.

Fabulous- maximalism is new to me - looking forward to trying the technique. All are beautiful but black one is my favourite.

They are ALL stunningly beautiful. Maybe the black background is my favourite. Maximilism reminds me of William Morris floral wallpapers etc...also, many florists put together bright bold colours together when flower arranging. There is so much inspiration around us.

Wow! All are stunning, but the black one really pops the most, so it gets my vote for fav. Love the maximalism trend - I'm not a CAS crafter. For me, it's the more the better.

I love these cards and the dies are amazing - Love the new glimmer format with everything in one foil sheet and then dies that is completely fabulous hope more are like that in the future.

Your maximalism approach is awesome! I love that they're still very 'designed', there's flow and movement across the card with the layers, but so many gorgeous pops of colour and detail for the eye to enjoy. 1 Month Ago : Whoa! These are just GORGEOUS, Yana! And now I have to go shopping, even though I PROMISED myself that I wasn't going to buy ANYTHING new for awhile (I already have a big pile of supplies that I haven't even opened yet!). But your creativity is SO inspiring, I just can't help myself! Lol.
Anyway, quick question: When you add so much heaviness to the front of your card, do you feel the need to balance the back to match? Does it feel flimsy, in comparison to the front, to you? I usually add another slightly smaller layer of cardstock to the inside, but I'd love to hear what YOU do, if anything?

Your color choices are inspired - I can’t pick a favorite. I just ordered some of these pieces, and just ordered the glimmer machine, so am excited to use your inspiration. I think I’m a natural maxi mist!
All 3 cards are wonderfully beautiful BUT I’m like you I love black background cards a lot as do many of the commenters. But it doesn’t seem right not to try new things. I rarely pick bright colors…just not me, Bright colors scare me! Lol lol. Now on black it is a whole other story.
