You need to listen, really listen to this entire discourse by President Obama - he has asked the Cuban and American people to leave the past in the past and look forward to the future and as Jose Marti said - Liberty is the right of every man to be honest, to think and to speak without hypocrisy. Thank You President Obama, I am proud to be a Cuban American today.- Thanks Mom & Dad

+Henry Costa Obama is lecturing Cuba on human rights while the US operates a torture dungeon on the other side of the island! Words are one thing - and I admire the genuine convictions your hope comes from - but actions are another. If you want your hope to manifest itself as a tangible reality in the future, stop investing in corrupt politicians from corrupt nations, and invest in yourself, your friends, family, and community.

      +mans410 Evidence of your claims?
And water boarding is "real torture." The US also routinely beat people in military custody in Iraq and Afghanistan, raped and otherwise sexually abused them, used chemicals, belts, ligaments, blades, truncheons, rifle butts, etc., to injure and even kill detainees. As for evidence, this was all released in official investigations and included photographs and video. Ball's in your court.

The Haters NEVER give any reasons for their negativity. They watch this man who has a loving heart and is always doing things to prove it and the Haters seem to be only able to type enough words to call him vulgar names but not enough to explain why they find this historical moment so horrible. Those in the audience are human beings as we are seeking a better life. Having trade & business with Cuba can only help both of us! So what's the problem Haters?

I'm not a USA citizen, I live in an African country and man I'll tell you I'll give my nuts to have a president like this. His charisma is over 9000, he's intelligent and he's a master diplomat. Yet I see a lot of Americans bitching about him, they almost seem ungrateful and unaware of how good they have it.

Change has to start somewhere. In my years of exile I've never seen anybody put in the slightest effort to step up to the plate and take a swing at the bat against one of the most notorious pitchers in politics history ( i am referencing the Castros as the pitcher). President Obama has taken that initiative. For those of us who were born in that regime, we know what it takes to get from one day to the next. I am also hopefull for the future. I do believe that there will be elections in Cuba in the future, I also believe that my peoples life will better from this, simply because we are smart and humble people. However, the President is right, this will take time. The important thing in all of this is that the movement has begun and nobody can't deny that.

+Paloma Diazlobos, most of the Cuban people ignored President Obama was addressing a speech to them at that time. The speech was rarely advertised and given at a time when students were are their schools and parents at their work places so, it didn't serve its main purpose, the Cuban society.

    • @GRpd-nh7hl
      @GRpd-nh7hl 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

+Paloma Diazlobos Wrong- Obama has undermined US dignity, by bowing to the Castros, it's a disgrace. Go read your history about the castros, then talk to cuban americans about the castros, that obama is hugging and kissing. Cuba and the castros solve their standoff with the US by exercising human rights, and freedom for it's people, not by playing kissy face with obama.

+ET234 Gtt5456 So, it is okay to be friends with China, but not with Cuba? The embargo is a disgrace. It never worked and it only hurts the Cuban people. Stop looking to the past, the time is to try something new.

+ET234 Gtt5456 I'm a Cuban American, and I think that what Obama has done needed to be done. For over 40 years those two have been bullshitting the world claiming their ills are the fault of Americans. Guess what, time for us to change a policy that hasn't worked. With the Embargo over, if the Cuban people are still in the same predicament, then the world is not going to be bullshitted anymore.

I am a Cuban Rafter. I was born in 1966. I was brain wash and I was told Gringos were bad. I still decided to take an small bote and cruise the ocean to make my own opinion in 1994. Actually I am going to be 50 in May. I love my friends from America and I love my friends from Cuba. We need a change. I am afraid to offend my friends from here because I love them but I truly believe we need the embargo lifted and I believe that is wrong to be afraid to express myself, that is not why I came to America for. My believe is not to please the Castro's but because I truly believe is the only way to establish a democracy in Cuba. If the only way is to Kill the Castro's, sorry, I am not a killer. I believe in democracy and that's why I came to America. I trust that Information and opening will make the difference! As OBAMA said, embargo only hut the Cubans in both sides!

+jperez1910 I've heard about a terrible Cuban prison called Guantanamo Bay where there is torture and it didn't acknowledge the Geneva convention.
The USA would never butcher or torture innocent people, never invade another country because they know that is the most serious war crime of aggression.
There is plenty that Obama is brushing over here, but it's a start, couldn't have imagined a Bush or Reagan doing this.

Similar platitudes uttered and forgotten by the very same president, shaped by the very same American interests regarding Libya and Muammar Qaddafi - who bent over backwards to appease American demands only to be later undermined, betrayed, have three generations of his family murdered by NATO warplanes, and his nation left in irreversible ruination.
Do not listen to the words of this orator and the clever wordsmiths writing his speeches, look at America's actions throughout the world and realize Cuba has just been marked as "next" in a long and ever growing line of trampled nations. Say what you will in disagreement, but time will ultimately tell.

So,, it's plain and simple, if Cuba has free elections and excise human rights to their own people, the embargo will be lifted. Raul Castro said no, fuck you, I'm not changing shit, so we lift the embargo anyway. Now Obama wants the Cuban people to try to to plea peacefully to Castro for free elections and human rights, something that have not been able to do in 60 years. Hey Mr President, why don't you suggest to Castro to have an amendment in their own constitution stating "the people have the right to bear arms against tyranny and oppression".Then maybe Cubans will have free elections and human rights.

thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy, and prayers for the whole world because it's only getting worse, day by day . LAST BUT NOT LEAST! !
MR. OBAMA i know that you have alot on your plate with the demands of your job , and many other things that may have your mind and emotions a little drained, but honestly i dont feel that any of those things are why you show NO REMORSE NO EMOTION AT ALL OR REALLY ADDRESS THE ISIS TERRORIST ATTACKS BY CALLING IT WHAT IT IS IN THE PAST . NOPE instead you give a dont be islamaphobic speech for 20 minutes and spend 3 talking about the innocent victims in a monotone voice, California is just one incident, then this unfortunate attack you say a few we Americans are here for you with no emotion and lack of support in what your saying.. then immediately switch to a history lesson on the last 80 years and all the sad bad and hurtful things that went along with that to keep those wounds still burning.. even though you know that it must bring some type of enjoyment to constantly bring up the past that you can twist to make Americans sound like horrible in human people ... yet you are buddies with some potentially dangerous leaders if they want to be... oky rants over and thankfully so is November. .. GOD BLESS AMERICA

+Darius Teišerskis I don't know about "Leadership Skills" Because here at home, he has been a monumental disaster. But the speech was C+, but it will fall on deaf ears with the leadership in Cuba, because there is no way in Hell, the Castro Brothers, or their 200 or so sycophants are going to relinquish power. And the rest of the 11,000,000 Cubans will still live from one bowl of rice and beans to the next--and guess what? The Rice AND the Beans are grown in the USA. It's two of the 30 or so "exceptions" to the so-called Embargo, which is not an embargo; it's a trade restriction, based upon the billions of dollars of American and private property stolen by the Castros in 1959-1962. It's a Monsterous Government, and they ain't going nowhere-

And one day you will be lying on their beautiful beaches again sipping rum. He's trying to motivate the people to find hope in a better life. This WILL pay off for American businesses and a new trade partner! This is epic! Nothing to hate!
