Never even heard of this song!! I'm dead serious 😐. I've always considered Bon Jovi, White Snake, and many others during the big-hair band days all pretty much sounded all the same-just commercial bands and songs. I suggest that listening to bands that have a distinct lead singer and a sound all their own that when you hear that band there is no doubt whatsoever who you are listening to!! My all-time favorites are: Lover boy, April Wine, Triumph, Billy Squire, Journey, Gun's and Roses, Def Leppard, John Cougar-Melloncamp, and many other classics...not putting Bon Jovi down by no means, just my own opinion is all. This song was recorded before Bon Jovi was a band. It was just Jon Bon Jovi and studio musicians. Tim Pierce who is a legendary studio musician did all the guitar on this song. He has a TH-cam channel and talks about the making of this song. You all should check it out.
And when they did create Bon Jovi. John was the only one with a record contract, he was smart, made the rest of the band filthy rich but had complete control.

My favorite is off this album too. Shot Through The Heart not to be confused with You Give Love A Bad Name. This album was 🔥. Probly my favorite one although I loved them all
This album, 7800° Fahrenheit, came out in 85 & they hadn't quite found their own lane yet. They were still borrowing heavily from other "safe" pop rock bands of the era, like Loverboy & Survivor - but with the added sex appeal of Billy Squire. The synth here even reminds me of Journey a bit. You could tell they were onto something, but still kind of all over the place stylistically. But then, just ONE year later, they released their worldwide smash Slippery When Wet, which was certified DIAMOND in both the US (12M sold) & CAN (10M). Multi-platinum sales also in AUS (6M), UK (3M), SWI (2M), and Platinum just about everywhere else!
This is from their 1984 debut album "Bon Jovi," but I agree that they hadn't yet found their sound on either of those first two albums of theirs. I think that Bruce Fairbairn (the producer that they switched to for Slippery When Wet) deserves a huge amount of credit for helping them find that sound. Every song on Slippery When Wet and New Jersey was so slickly produced (perhaps too slickly produced for fans of raw, non-studio-sounding rock, but not for me).
Just remember reading their original bassist 'Alec John Such' died. I loved his bass playing...like the riff in 'keep the faith' and actually the whole record of the same name.
This was the SONG that MADE Bon Jovi! It was their FIRST release. Jon ended up driving to local RADIO STATIONS and asking the DJ's to play it. It became the most requested song on more than one of the radio stations and lead to their recording contract!
Very underrated song by Bon Jovi !! Great reaction ! This was their 1st hit and it is a great upbeat song !! It is hard to listen to and not move in one way of the other…either dancing , air drums, air guitars or whatever you do !!
The story I recall is John was working at a recording studio as a gofor and janitor. He was very humble and would bend over backwards to help, no matter what was asked of him. All the musicians liked him. He showed a few of them this song he'd written and they got together to help him record it for free. John took the demo around to all the New York and New Jersey radio stations, trying to get anyone to listen. One of the stations, WAPP (The Apple) had a contest for unsigned talent. Runaway won the contest, got airplay, Mercury Records took notice and Bongiovi got a record deal.
This whole first album is "different Bon Jovi vibe" and I wish they could have done more music under this construction/design. However, this could be considered "transitional 70s/80s rock" and would therefore need to change to stay with the times. "She Don't Know Me" is another great song from this album release. Great reaction team Brad and Lex! Tim pierce on guitar, what a stud! He’s been a session guitarist since the 80’s and has a great TH-cam channel for anyone interested in guitar, lessons and many great stories including the making of this song. He was the lead guitarist for Rick Springfield and knows just about everyone in LA, playing on thousands of songs for just about anyone you’ve heard of!
He may have done sessions for Rick Springfield, not sure, but I know for his first big album with Jessie’s Girl, it was Neil Geraldo. Pat Benetar’s guitarist and husband, not Tim. It’s not unusual to have different session musicians for different tracks on the same album, so that is possible too. I know Rick wanted to play it himself but the producer brought Neil instead. Neil plays the bass on Jessie’s Girl too and Rick plays some keys.
@@joelhammond4162 Tim toured with Rick for four years all over the world and they are best of friends, and also played almost every guitar part for his albums too. I am familiar with Neil as Tim did a video with him as they are good friends also and regarded him as one of the best guitarist he’s ever known; and it’s quite obvious when you listen to him play on all of Pat’s songs. This is my 2nd favorite Bon Jovi song, after 1986' "Raise Your Hands"...probably because those are their 2 most rockin' tunes. The rest of their repertoire was too light/glam/pop for my taste. Can't deny their talent, of course.
Omg! This first song of theirs made me absolutely a fan. I was obsessed with Jon Bon Jovi. It's s so sad that his voice is completely destroyed now. However he aged like fine wine, still married to his high school sweetheart and is a wonderful humanitarian. He really needs to hang it up tho as much as I hate to say it. Still love me some JBJ tho
The song should be called little run away because that’s the main verse of the song and it’s about a girl who ran away because she wasn’t getting enough attention by her father
Im so happy you did this. IMO the best BJ song. This was his 1st album, and i believe his 1st(?) hit. This whole album is great. Before the fame of Slippery When Wet album.
1983 soph year of high school heard it the first time in the parking lot of the high school football field blasting out of my friends Firebird! What up Ricky Flowers!
I'm not seeing much love for Alec here. In case you didn't know, he was the original bassist and played on the first 5 albums (the good ones). Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday. R.I.P
Like usual with BonJovi, there are countless demos of songs out there that did not make the cut on the first album. This band is a factory for songs! For each album, they have about 30 to 40 demos of material that will never be heard. From time to time, some of those unheard gems are given to other artists but believe me, there are some great demos to be discovered if you make the effort to look for them. Heck, i have made personnal CDs of unheard material from Bon Jovi and i swear, it sounds just as good as the real hits! Just for this first album, try and check the demos ''Hollywood Dreams'', ''What do ya Want'' (or ''What You Want'') and ''Talkin' In Your Sleep'' from the Power Station sessions. And that is just for the first album.I'm not even talking about the demos from ''Slippery When Wet'' (86) or ''New Jersey'' (88) which was suppose to be a double album. Countless unheard gems from their friend and almost non-official member of the band in the 80s and 90s, Desmond Child. Try ''Edge Of A Broken Heart'' (86).

Generation X had an EXPONENTIAL amount of young children running away from home. We don't hear a lot about Gen X.. and I think it's because Gen X is still trying to rise up from underneath the colossal abusiveness from adults raising children after the Vietnam War. Suffice it to say.. parenting was fkn brutal. I remember kids showing up at school with bruises, broken bones, all sorts of trauma and nobody did anything because there was too many. You see? Movies and Music reflected that pain. Movies, Breakfast, Club, St. Elmo's Fire, there's more of course. Skid Row, Metallica, AcDc.. all these heavy bands were about raising awareness and exposing the truth about what was happening to the children. I was one of those children. I was on my own, in a major metropolis, completely unparented, by 14. There were SO MANY other 12-15 yr olds out there, on the street, being exploited sexually, by adults. It's happening today, it happened to me. That's why I"m crazy. xo

This is my 2nd favorite Bon Jovi song, after 1986' "Raise Your Hands"...probably because those are their 2 most rockin' tunes. The rest of their repertoire was too light/glam/pop for my taste. Can't deny their talent, of course.
The guitar is spectacular in this song!
By far the best Bon Jovi track
1st hit for this legendary band
Love this from my early childhood
That whole album is great!
Love Bon Jovi!! RIP Alec John Such. Great reaction!! 🙂
Even brads face lit up on this one. Lex on fire as usual
That whole first album was fantastic
🤘 🤘 Bon Jovi before they went commercial! Great Album!
Ooooo...u just took me straight back to high school! Haven't heard this in ..forever. Forgot how much I loved it Great reaction 💕
You see folks, there's the little rock and roll Gremlin I've been telling you about inside of Lex.!
It's HUGE!!!
Omg Lex you look like a million bucks! Congratulations!🙂
The song should be called little run away because that’s the main verse of the song and it’s about a girl who ran away because she wasn’t getting enough attention by her father
Was there that night at Jersey Shore. Bon Jovi Surprised Jam out at Seaside Heights White Stage.
RIP Alec John Such.
Hi Brad and Lex. Been away for a bit because I bought an XBOX. Glad to see yall still Killin it.
Brad, technically the synth and keyboards are the same thing.
Ohhh, Ohhh! I was 10? Love it! I wasn't 10 yet. I was 8. I think this is '85. "Slippery when Wet" came out in '87.
One of his best.
I'm not sure I've ever seen you like a song before Brad! lol. Nice shirt by the way.
I'm not seeing much love for Alec here.
In case you didn't know, he was the original bassist and played on the first 5 albums (the good ones).
Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday. R.I.P
Ritchie Sambora kicking arse in this one....again!
The good ol' days, when Jon had his distictive voice yet....This song was their entrace ticket to stardome.
Brad and Lex I’m an American living in Macedonia 🇲🇰 now. My Macedonian friends love you guy’s were drinking a lot of rajkia “ Macedonian moonshine “ they say keep on kicking ass!
Great rockin tune. “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” by Bob Seger is another
Generation X had an EXPONENTIAL amount of young children running away from home. That's why I"m crazy. xo
Their best song.
Love Bon Jovi period- 💖💙
His best by far
The guitar solo is epic, love Tim Pierce.
The bassist in this video is their original player and in the past few days just passed away.
👍
