Wow, Wow, Wow and more Wow, that was amazing!! You can tell you had an awesome time your face had the biggest smile; well done. This was a month ago, might be time for another trip to the Bulloo River. Yes?
Wow, what an awesome Yabbie catching adventure! Yes indeed, you got a wonderful Feast right there! Do you have to purge the Yabbies on clear water because of the muddy water conditions? Interesting reguarding the Perch species is small compared to our Northern hemisphere Yellow Perch. Yet the various, Freshwater Crayfish species from, Australia, are the largest known species, known to man. Cheers Mate, Merry Christmas!
The water out there is strange, no purging the yabbies is required and they are sweet yummy meat. The spangled perch are one of the smallest species in Australia. The Golden perch (yellowbelly) can get bigger then a 20 litre (5 gallon) fuel container. That’s what I was actually fishing for but was happy with the yabbies
I’m from South Africa so we don’t get those here… looks like they are pretty good eating.. just a question… do you have a purge them before you cook them?
Fully legal in Queensland. As long as they fit to the regulations. Regulations change from state to state and region to region so it’s best to stay up to date.
I am in Queensland, spangled perch are also called Bobby Cod and are the widest spread of all Australian fresh water fish. The yabbies have a longer warm season here so they grow to big sizes pretty regularly
And worth every cent, I’d rather catch mine. Plenty of yabbies in the Victorian waterways and dams A Vic fishing license is only $10 for a 3 day or under $40 a year. You can catch a lot of yabbies in 3 days
I was a couple off my bag limit, kept 98. Released well over 100 females and smaller male ones (that were still big ones) It was awesome as a part of our Christmas lunch with the family.
It doesn’t show on the camera but the banks are big and really steep. The camera angles make it look walkable but they’re not. It’s a long way down to the water and getting back out isn’t easy. Lol
I think you can still use them in private dams down there but not 100% sure. we do have restrictions on where you can and can’t use them in places with like in platypus habitat areas and places along the east coast of Queensland.
Sustainability is about doing the right thing. They where all “big ones” What you didn’t see I was within my legal bag limit I released a lot of yabbies All the small and Most females where released even non berried ones And That is the natural size of the yabbies in that area
We use a wide array of nets depending on where we are fishing. Opera house nets are still legal in Queensland but regulations change from area to area and state to state. Always keep up with your local regulations for the region you are fishing in.
@@johnfranz7480 a lot comes down to responsible use as well. We never use them in platypus areas and we only use ones with a steal restriction ring and we check them regularly. Like I said we use the other types aswell.
@@johnfranz7480 what bycatch are you referring to? I personally have only ever had crayfish shrimp and small fish in mine. I release the fish depending on what they are and I am complying with all regulations and laws.
Great spot pity you alone will fish it out!!! If everyone took as many as you did there will never be any left. Quality over quantity. It's not about your legal bag limit its about enjoying what is naturally available and not being greedy.
For your information I caught well over 1000 yabbies in that week and kept under my bag limit of 100 for our Christmas celebrations with my family, all laws and regulations were abided by and majority of the females were released (even though it’s not required) Before you judge and accuse people of doing something wrong you probably need to remember that you are never getting the full picture from a TH-cam video.
Fantastic videos mate . kids and I enjoy watching them . Great meeting you at the Leslie dam fishing comp. Keep up the great work . 👍🏼
Will definitely be back next year. Was a great weekend out at Leslie Dam
Hey champ love watching ya videos hey keep up the good work

It’s always I time to head out west
That’s nuts, you’re so lucky to have such a great spot.
I literally google mapped and found some spots to try and get to and went for a drive.
@@AdamKilpatrick it’s a 14 hour drive but I’m tempted to go.
@@glenbaker4024 great town, great people and take earthworms with you, fishing bait is hard to find out there

PLease update about fresh water crawfish
It’s the middle of winter here. They need warmer weather to run like that.
nice catch
Oh my goodness look at all those yabbies 😮🎉
It was like that all week
@@AdamKilpatrick WOW
Good on you man, we’ve done that for many many years at Gundi, a real delicacy.
Awesome haul. What you use for bait?
Was using luncheon sausage.
Had a few days on the Paroo and was the same there… massive amounts of really large yabbies… 👍👍
The floods gave the rivers out that way a huge boost.
That's awesome , wish we had them where I live . Send me a bucket full 😂
Absolutely incredible. WOW I'm so jealous. Haha well done mate.
Thanks @robbiefishing it was seriously the most amazing run of yabbies I’ve ever seen.
I’m from South Africa so we don’t get those here… looks like they are pretty good eating.. just a question… do you have a purge them before you cook them?
Some people do but we don’t, personally I don’t feel you have to.
Ps...I'm pissed new sub😎😫😫😫
Looks good. What’s a Yabbie ??
The thing in his hand
Yabby or Yabbies are a Australian breed of crayfish (Cherax destructor)
Does it fish that well all year?
No, yabbies run like that depending on the season they’ve had and the conditions. This year they have been pretty slow due to the amount of rain.
nice catch , but those opera house traps are , i think ilegall, nsw just ditched them to fall in line with the rest of oz

Wow1
Sorry, I had to watch this amazing video again.
Never be sorry for that
Where in Australia are you? I have never heard of a spangled perch, nor have I ever seen yabbies so big
I am in Queensland, spangled perch are also called Bobby Cod and are the widest spread of all Australian fresh water fish.
The yabbies have a longer warm season here so they grow to big sizes pretty regularly
What state an what river wondering also not bad yabbies.
Queensland out at Thargomindah
Nice an big an a good feed
Did u actually go to Thargomindah
Yes, it’s a great town
Unbeleivable . I bought some in Melbourne today at $26 per kilo
And worth every cent, I’d rather catch mine. Plenty of yabbies in the Victorian waterways and dams

What river is this? I heard him say but can't hear it.
It’s the Bulloo river
Don't forget to have battery fully charged and maybe a bigger cooler. Cheers!!!!👏👏👏
The heat knocks the batteries around. Over 40°c each day I was out there
What was your final count, if you don't mind sharing?
I was a couple off my bag limit, kept 98.
Released well over 100 females and smaller male ones (that were still big ones)
It was awesome as a part of our Christmas lunch with the family.
Why are you keeping so far from the water's edge?
It doesn’t show on the camera but the banks are big and really steep. The camera angles make it look walkable but they’re not. It’s a long way down to the water and getting back out isn’t easy. Lol
I thought he was in croc territory but not sure if you get yellas up north
@@AdamKilpatrick❤❤
Where was this caught at what area?
Thargomindah in South West Queensland
Yeah....opera house nets are illegal in VIC. They are awesome...not so much for platypus...but you do get a decent feed of yabbies. Jealous af.
