Note to potential buyers: Abbado also recorded a lot of the same Debussy later with Berlin. I like the Berlin Prelude more, but the Boston Nocturnes are the best (especially with I believe the Tanglewood choir in the last movement!)
There is also a "DG Originals" CD with the Nocturnes, Daphnis et Chloé "fragments" and the the Scriabin Poème. It's a beautiful album. I thought it was mentioned in a recent Fave or a Talk, but can't remember which one... Anyway, well worth looking out for in used CD or digital form.

With classical radio being so "bleeding chunky" these days, I was shocked the other day when I randomly turned on the classical radio station and the Fêtes actually flowed into the Sirènes. They're actually doing the whole thing, I thought. lol.
Where have you been Richard! I've bought a gazillion of them starting 20 years ago. But then again we actually still had stores down here back then! Were quite cheap back then as well. Local Readings store still carry the latest releases and JB HiFi still have a small amount, otherwise Classics Direct (online) seems a good source. Check about the Eloquence website, lots of great recordings, though many of the deleted items are no longer listed. Cheers!
I always associated the BSO with DG, specially after the Ozawa era. And now they have resumed it with Nelsons. I cannot think of another label more associated with the BSO... Maybe Philips... or RCA, but that was ages ago.
Great piece of music but prefer Ormandy on Columbia (best sound from Sony Japan) coupled with a wonderful La Mer and Prelude-Faun (though Ormandy outdid those with his RCA remakes).
I have a soft spot for the Louis de Froment Vox box Debussy series. Some weak spots here and there but overall a solid package with always tasteful interpretations by Froment. The Nuages in particular is treated with the utmost sensitivity imho.
This is an amazing piece of music, but I much prefer the recording with Bernard Haitink and the Concertgebouw Orchestra on Philips, which is coupled with a truly magnificent "Jeux", an orchestral tone poem.

Thanks to you, I have this disc. Got it after your Images survey. For me it’s up there with Haitink’s Nocturnes and Boulez’s Images.

It was mentioned in the Scriabin talk. As a Scriabinist, the disc was my introduction to the Nocturnes, and I fell in love instantly.
David, you should do a talk on the Boston Symphony/DG box. It probably has more great performances per square inch than any other box I've ever seen.
I second that suggestion for a video!
It's so unavailable, but I'd certainly enjoy doing it.
