The 7 was my reintroduction back into Android after 3 years with the iPhone and 5 years since my last pixel phone (pixel 2xl). And I'm honestly pleased with my experience. I do wish I got the 7 pro instead. But Im not a fan of big phones and recently had the 12 mini. But it seems like since my note 10, android has done a good job making big phones for comfortably in hands
So the pixel 8 pro will definitely b my next buy if it's a great improvement from the 7 pro.

I switched from iphone 13 to pixel 7 too and it has been great. Just a tip, dont buy pixel 8 pro as soon as it comes. Buy it 2-3 months later so google can fix all the bugs.

    • @richardbartlett6932
      @richardbartlett6932 ปีที่แล้ว +6

If someone says 2 days battery life you know they are either lying about actually using the phone or it's a paid review
These simply cannot last 2 days of normal use. By 12.00 I was having to turn the screen down to try to eek out battery life.
It's dreadful. With the massive advances in battery tech I'm amazed anyone is offering less than 5000 these days. It's a cost cutting exercise which reviewers gloss over and buyers lie to themselves because they don't want to believe they have been fooled
Battery life is shocking for a mobile.

I have been going for the biggest screen possible for a long time now. I got the 6a without doing my research and about had a heart attack when I realized the size. After one day with it, I was sold. It's not big. It's not small. It's in a perfect sweet spot. It's also my first a series. I think I'll stick with the a series. My top 3 apps are TH-cam, TH-cam music and Google podcast. I always bought the most expensive version because that was supposed to be "better".

I never really liked curved screens. Even the good ones still suffer accidental touches. The functionality penalty far outweighs the supposed visual/design appeal. As for the lack of telephoto lens, I'm with you and prefer a wide and a telephoto, not two variations of wide. But Google took such a beating over that setup from the tech press with the Pixel 4 that they even lost Levoy, the genius that made Pixel cameras as good as they were. I don't think Pixel will return to wide+telephoto on their dual camera models anytime soon.

I absolutely LOVE my pixel 7. Full goldilocks device. Not too small not too big. Just right. There is NO WAY I would ever use it without a case. It's far to slippery for that. At minimum I would probably consider throwing a super grippy D-Brand skin on the back.

I have an unlocked North American Pixel 7 pro; a GREAT phone; BUT BUYER BEWARE. Google perhaps stupidly or in a self-defeating manner, blocks 5G connections to much of Europe and Asia. The battery in my S21 was giving up so traded it in for a pixel 7 in the recent Google store Spring sale, snagged one for £170. Honestly feels like I scammed them, but several things really, really annoy and disappoint me about the Pixel 7.
    1) the absolutely absurd "quick" toggle for WiFi
    2) being unable to remove the At A Glance widget - primarily because i make little use of the options available for display and would rather use the more visually appealing widgets such as weather or calendar, but also because it prevents me from placing widgets where I want, and has wasted space above and below of approx 15mm.
    3) the battery life feels disappointing considering the charging times
    4) the photos app backing up every photo from every app that creates a folder within the DCIM folder
    5) the limited availability of Google Assistant call features for users outside the US and a select few other countries - massively disappointing.

After 6mo of Pixel 7 usage and updates one disappointment for me is the G2 chip and how little it is an update from G1, still it sometimes lags.... Especially it is noticeable if you delete pictures one-by-one(in the pictures), after 2nd or 3rd picture deletion it freezes up 'next' picture is blurred out & you cannot do anything. After few seconds it unfreezes but sometimes it goes to next(right) picture, sometimes it goes i dont know why to previous picture like you would swipe to left....
'Pixel' should be premium out of the box hassle free phones.. but in real life there are still a lot of imperfections.. I get the android 'custability' freedom but options on the pixel is real clusterf... and if you need to find something it is just unreal without just searching in the search bar... All these small annoying things that dosent go great for the plan - especially if google wants to be no.1 android phone ahead of samsung and then be apple's main competitor in phone segment, there is still A LOT of things to do. But if implemented right without any bad decisions it can be done in 3-4years/models time. (just in time for my next phone 😊 )
Overall im happy of the phone and dont regret my purchase.
The chipset lock is there so G could give 5 years support and updates... It is really hard to do on 3rd party(Snapdragon gen2 chipset for example) that you only have rights to utilize in your phone... So after 2 full years it is nearly impossible to normally support it because you are dependent on them and they can do whatever they want so most probably they up the licence price if they want to get the support licence, or get their newest gen chip that is cheaper....
So basically if you could what YOU would choose - Google in house 'Tensor' chips with 5/6 year main android support, or Snapdragon chips with 3 year main android support? (like it was before)
Battery is big department if they want to win over Samsung, as S is strong in this field. I also get almost 2 day battery life on my medium usage, but... It should be longer if the want to dethrone S.
And Google should officially push for full 2 day battery life(as one day life was something in 2015 to brag about. And no super QC can fix this if you dont have an outlet to plug in)
For me it would be perfect if p7 had 300-500mah larger capacity battery, then it would be a beast that could hold like 2.5 days easy...
p.s. i dont know why many games i play have 'jitter' if im on 90Hz. So im just using it on 60Hz setting and the jitter is gone, also saving battery because i also really cannot see that 30hz difference in daily life on a small 'phone' screen but you can notice the battery drain(i'd say it depletes ~10% faster on a full charge scale)

The only reason I am not buying a pixel is because how large they are.
Google should match the size of the Galaxy S23 & iPhone 14 which are NORMAL sized & that normal use to be considered large.
I was extreamly disappointed when we found out the pixel 8 was gonna be 6.2" when before the rumor was 5.9"
I really would have loved a 5.9" pixel! I want a premium pixel so badly for GrapheneOS but their just so large phones, its ahhhhh

the fingerprint scanner on my 7 was a bit fussy. it would work fine the first instance i registered but would fail almost every time after that. it took like 5 time reregistering before it finally stuck, and it was good after that. battery life, especially on standby, wasn't very good. everything else about it was fantastic. premium feeling, beautiful design, good price.

Im watching on my pixel 6 pro i feel that this a great phone and no doubt in that but still this has some areas which Google should improve
    1. Charging speed literally every one plus or samsung phones takes less than 1hour for full charge but pixel phones 6 or 7 series takes 2hours.
2.processor my pixel phone getting heated if i use this phone for 30 minutes and i cant play any game with max graphics
3.samsung and oneplus gives major os updates for 4 years for their flagship mobiles but pixel gives only 3 years
And also should give an inbuilt app lock for pixel phones which supports Android 14

I have an unlocked North American Pixel 7 pro; a GREAT phone; BUT BUYER BEWARE. Google perhaps stupidly or in a self-defeating manner, blocks 5G connections to much of Europe and Asia. If you are a mobile warrior or professional who travels often.... AVOID this phone as well until Google addresses this outrageous issue. My friends with Iphones and Samsungs do not face the same issues.

I am loving my Lemongrass Pixel 7. I've had it since the day before launch, and it has been excellent the entire time.
For a long time I was rocking the official lemongrass case, but I dropped it on concrete and it got damaged making it look ugly. So now I am using the Caseology Nano Pop case. It still has a hint of that lemongrass color around the camera bar.
It matches really nicely with my Lemongrass Pixel Buds Pro and my Pixel Watch with lemongrass band.

Honestly pixels are overrated. I have had a pixel 4a , pixel 6 pro and pixel 7. They all have the same problem. Green or teal appears vibrant green blue which completely ruins the pic for me. As a surgeon I take pics against a green background and it completely ruins it. Moreover pics in low light condition are completely washed out. Flash is the worst offender. It imparts an unnatural orange pink hue to the pics. Samsung pics are way better. I regret my decision to go in for pixel and obviously will be the last time. Computational photography isn't the panacea to a relatively mediocre hardware including a exynos based chip and seriously the algorithms need a new infusion of ideas.
