- I just decided to redo this after finding a clear copy of the original from the laserdisc.
Credit to TLKEmmet, Elijah Frederick, and Devon Wright for the videos used to make this comparison.
I don't own this movie, Disney does. All rights reserved.
The 1994 crocs will.always remain the proper version to me.
I love it
Forever and always. It's one of those things that I just can't get used to.
I like the movement of the 1994 crocs, but I like the design of the 2002 crocs
I prefer the current redesigns. The originals look lazily drawn despite the other amount of amazing work from the animators in the film.
@@hunterolaughlin The current crocs just move their heads side to side whereas the 1994 crocs actually bop their head while simultaneously moving them side to side.
Woah! The colors on the laserdisc are amazing!
2:14 is the scene with the most differences
The 2002 crocs look like they came from an episode of Dora the Explorer.
The real crocodiles are on the upper right, while the fake ones are on the bottom left.
I disagree
The fake one is how the animators wanted it to be 0:57
Similar to crocodiles in Dora the explorer
It fake
The storyboard is just like in the final version but with some differences
I didn't like how Disney made the crocodiles in the special edition. XP
I like the really old 1994 version.
ME TOO!
They look creepy in the 1994 one..
@@McQueenStan Are you nuts?! In the Special Edition one, *THEY LOOK CREAPY!!!*
@@SimpleJarsNo, he’s got a point. The original crocs do look creepy.
@@hunterolaughlin not in my opinion.
2:13 The storyboard crocs look like something from the uncanny valley. The 1994 crocs look like real crocodiles, being gray in color. They also move their heads to the beat. The 2002 crocs look like they came from an episode of Dora the Explorer.
2:14 the alligators look like they were animated by Dora the Explorer animator.
2:13 let’s hear it in the herd beyond the wing.
@@LuckyKidDaneStudiosDaneParsons Let’s hear it in the herd and on the wing. The crocodiles in the bottom left panel is from the 2002 version onward which is the one in that they look like they were animated by the Dora the Explorer animator. The one on the top right panel is from the laserdisc or 1994 original theatrical version. I prefer the original crocs and the birds were drawn more detailed in the earlier version and look like they are singing.
At least they’re drawn better than the ones from the original release.
That’s exactly what I thought once I saw them
“Hey keep it down up there”
“We have neighbors, we should go say hello”
“Noisy neighbors. There go my property values.”
“Oh perfect, we moved to the Broadway musical district. Get a load of these guys. Knock it off!”
That does create a confusion. Simba can’t just grow that fast in the span of one night, nor could Timon and Pumbaa be sleeping that long.
“TIMON, LOOK OUT!!!”
Oy show people
@@Starwarsfanboy0928Expect that Timon and Pumbaa lived there longer than one night.
@@kacmac2340 I guess makes sense.
2:15 I came here from IMDB. In 2002, the scene with the croccodiles was reanimated for the IMAX release.
wow, it's awesome how it's drawn in the storyboards wow, it's very COOL :OOO:D
I can't stop looking at it, I was amazed for how they drew the entire sequence of the scene plus all the animals and the final pyramid
Can you please do a comparison of I Just Can’t Wait To Be King
(storyboard vs. 1994 vs. 2002 vs. 2019)?
2:14
2:14
The reanimated crocodiles do not match up with the rest of the movie. I also think that they changed them again in 2011.
At least they’re drawn better than the crocodiles from the original release.
They didn’t change them again in 2011.
It’s the same as the 2003 release.
What you said, it’s the first one that doesn’t fit
@@hunterolaughlinthe crocodiles in special edition look like they were drawn by Nickelodeon
The crocodiles and birds in the 2002 version look so much cheaper than the original.
No they don't
The original crocodiles were creepy af
Ngl I kinda understand why the crocodiles were redone, they look out of place and style compared to the rest of the scene
I actually like the remastered version the 2011 one
The one on the top right is my favorite!
Why not make it again but this time with the 2019 version?
The 1994 version is the original version & the 2002 version is the theatrical version. 2:14
2:14 what the fu-
HEY!
If I could jump between alternate universes, I’d stop at one where the movie was re-released exactly as it appeared on the Laserdisc, without logo plastering, redone credits, censorship, or alterations of any kind.
I noticed the change they made with the Crocodiles
I like the 1994 version of crocodiles, better
Me too
Controversial take: I prefer the Special Edition crocodiles. At least the current crocs don’t look like they’d want to eat me like the ones from 94.
Laserdisc is the best version.
Sure we don’t want I can’t wait to be king saw only 8?
Lm To Can’t Wait Saw to Simba To 18 1:35
They reanimated whole shots but didn’t fix all the popping errors where Simba or Mufasa’s eyes change from white to yellow in one scene? It feels weird when they just change scenes for seemingly no reason
The reason was because the animators didn’t like that first shot, so when they have the opportunity change it
The version in the upper right-hand corner is taken from the 1995 laserdisc whereas the one in the lower left-hand corner is from the 2003, 2011, or 2017 release. I didn't own the laserdisc but I had the 1995 VHS till I wore it down as a result of excessively watching it so we replaced it w/ both the 2003 DVD & VHS.

I like both versions of crocodiles 🐊 😌 😋 ☺ 😍 🤪 🐊 😌 😋 ☺ 😍 🤪 🐊 😌 😋 ☺ 😍 🤪
I really hate the colors in the newer version, its like they decided the colors should have less contrast which takes some of the life out of it
i wonder how the scene would play out if timon and pumbaa didin't knock over the animal tower
How come you didn’t add the part from the lion king 1 1/2?
Well duh! It's been cut
I like to compare the part with it.
Why anteaters in the lion king?
How did you get the storyboard one
2:14
Why did they change the crocodiles’s animation?
Because of copyright issues.
@@masong9594 I don’t see what that has to do with copyright issues.
@@patrickwilson1459 Because they ran out of money.
Well the animators were in a rush to finish their work for the movie, so they didn’t have enough time to fully animate the crocodiles, and they ended up using a story panel for the designs instead (according to co-director Roger Allers). It wasn’t until the IMAX release that they changed the crocodiles’ designs while reworking some of the animation.
The crocodile’s are change deferred
Laserdisc is better. 94 crocodiles
Why on earth does everyone like the awful looking 1994 version? Not only do tge frocodiles look bad but the colours, even on the laserdisc, look way duller.
If you had a 1994 VHS or anything else with the old crocodiles that you watched practically daily as a kid you'd understand. It's the way they dance and the look of their teeth, it's something that sticks in your brain so it brings nostalgia when you see it, so when you see the redone crocs you don't get the nostalgia rush that you're getting from the rest of the song and it just feels off in a way that's hard to describe to someone who didn't experience growing up with the old crocodiles.
