Thanks for the shout out, I definitely knew you would love this, that build up, and just the amount of different sounds he squeezes out between tapping, string bending, Using the knobs as wah wah, totally awesome

Rory...an absolute guitar icon. He was a huge influence on guitar players in general. I first saw him live in 1970 at The Isle of Wight festival, with his band Taste.
One of the top guitarists ever. Taken from us far too soon. R.I.P Rory.
    Cheers and regards from England.

Hi,had the greatest pleasure to see Rory back in the 70,a 80s three in in Bristol, always in quite small venues of probably no more than about 300/500 People, over the years I've seen Page,Clapton,Brian May,Blackmore,The late great Alvin Lee,and Rory is right up there with the very very best, when asked what's it like being the greatest guitarist ever Hendrix said ask Rory Gallagher,I rest my case.

So glad you enjoyed this one! His guitar skills on this one are pretty crazy and yes, he pioneered many of the techniques. He enjoyed wringing sounds out of the guitar with just what he could do with his hands. No whammy bar, no fancy effects. Lots of modern guitarists owe a lot to Rory, even if they don't realize it. And, for a taste of his blues skills and killer harmonica, one of my favorites is "All Around Man" from the Old Grey Whistle Test : th-cam.com/video/-hAs3eCfeEU/w-d-xo.html

Loved seeing you enjoy this performance! Rory and band were on fire the entire show. Would be worth watching just for the musical magic. Rory could get more sound out of a guitar than anyone else - and as Dawn Moore mentioned, he did it without effects. He was a huge influence on the likes of Brian May (who attributes Rory with his "sound"), and inspired The Edge, Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Marr and others. Rory's catalogue is so unique and diverse. His songs are a mix of blues, rock, folk, jazz, funk - there's so much to explore. You might also want to check out his band Taste, which preceded his solo career. Thanks for a great reaction, and keep on...

Great reaction. To answer your question on who Rory influenced. Famously, Brian May. A lot for the hard rock guys in the 80s such as Vivian Campbell and Slash. Joe Bonamassa. As well as people like Johnny Marr of The Smiths and The Edge of U2.

I saw Rory several times I don’t think he played the exact same set twice in thousands of concerts. He was truly amazing and personally I think his studio work is massively underrated. With perfect and often understated guitar solos on songs like ‘The King of Zydeco’ and ‘Ghost Blues’ on the Fresh Evidence album. Screaming slide on ‘At the Depot’ on Top Priority and ‘Country Mile’ on Calling Card. However there is no video to play with these. Des in Dublin

There is a reason that Jimi Hendrix said when a reporter asked him in London what it was like to be the greatest guitarist in the world that he responded I don't know maybe you should ask Rory Gallagher!

There’s no live shots but if you get a chance have a listen to A Million Miles Away from his 74 Belfast tour. It’s better than the studio version and showcases a slower Rory hand. Should have been the original release not the version from the studio.

Only heard a little bit about Rory Gallagher over the years, lots of folks really liked him, I just was listening to other stuff. But, the man can certainly play the guitar with the best of them. His singing is average, but his picking skills are quite good. The "Rock Goes To College" series was on the BBC, I believe, because I have a bootleg video of AC/DC from the same show. It's Bon Scott AC/DC, so very worth checking out.

You are so early on in your hearing Rory that I am jealous! He has 50 plus songs that are worthy of reacting to! I only put Gary Moore ahead of Rory Gallagher, but it isn't by a wide margin!
