I'm going to travel with my toddler for the first time in a couple of months and I'm so stressed out already. The idea of the wrap/ tent is awesome. Thank you for all your tips! 💕
Yes I do! Here is the link... th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html just in case you can go into my channel island parenting and you'll find it there under DIY Lap tent for infant or toddler travel trick. Thanks for the support! ❤️
I'm glad I was able to help! I haven't been able to post anything recently but I do have a few more videos with some extra travel gear. So something that has helped me travel with my two boys is the child airplane safety travel harness. It straps onto the seat and becomes a harness/ carseat for your older child. This really helps and keeps them in one place while you handle the little one! I also suggest you try rocking your little one to sleep a few times on a chair so the transition is easier when you're on the plane. I know my 1 yr old is used to sleeping on his own and puts himself to sleep so me rocking him is really hard and I struggle on the plane. So I practice with him a few days before my flight. Hope this helps and I'm going to try and get on it and post these new videos including the one of my travel carseat that becomes a backpack. Life can get so crazy with two little ones lol 😁 Have a safe trip and you've got this!
your voice is so calming! I am also FTM in 2022 and just ran into your video about traveling internationally. Will be taking my baby boy to Spain in June so very helpful to get tips from a fellow latina :) thank you for sharing!
Yes you can take powder milk. Make sure to leave with some extra time since TSA will have to pull you aside to check you and screen you. Depending on the airport some take a bit longer than others so that's why I always suggest to give yourself some extra time 😊 Yes you can get water pretty much anywhere but I do suggest to take one btl with the water measurement you need (add powder later) to have it ready for a moment of emergency you might not have time to go buy some. You can buy water after you cross TSA or even on the plane. Do do allow a baby btl with water.
Of course np! I have a video showing you how to do it. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0NDfV2yVbLinkzyb It's also on my channel just in case 😁 I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!
Very informative thank you so much. We will be traveling with our 3 kids. 20 months old, 3 yrs old and 7 yrs old 24 hours flight. It is really scary. But your tips are very helpful. Thanks again.
Thank you! I'm glad this could help! Traveling with kids and long flights definitely make it even more scary..so I understand! Have an amazing trip and safe flight! Don't worry you'll do amazing and so will your kids 😁
This video is so helpful! The wrap tip is such a great idea and I was just thinking about how I will be able to hold my toddler to sleep on our first flight next month to Hawaii. Only 6 hours but I’m still stressing out over here so thank you for this!💜
Your welcome! I'm glad this could help! That's why I did this video because I myself didn't know of a way to hold my toddler and it really helps! Thank you for waching! Have an amazing trip in Hawaii and a safe travels! 😁
Thanks for all the tips, im taking my 1yr old on lap for 14hrs flight. This help alot. I wish you list the item you say below so I can know exactly lol..
Hi! Thank you! I actually made another video demonstrating how to make it and what you need. You can find it on my channel if not I shared the link as well. Let me know if you have any questions and have a safe trip! 😊 Here's the link th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html

Of course! I actually made a video showing you how to do the hold. Here's the link. th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html it's on my channel under diy lap tent for infant of toddler. Thank you and let me know if you have any questions😁
I'm so happy this was helpful!! I still use all these tip for my travels and now we have another son so let's see how that goes traveling international with too 😳 I'll definitely will be making another video about that coming up in the summer! Have a great trip! And if you have any questions let me know😁
Love this video so helpful, thank you. Wow your "tent" wrap set up looks so cosy! I got a transatlantic flights with a bassinet but my baby (10 months) wouldn't sleep in it on the way over. On the way back, the fasten seatbelt sign was turned on the whole way, so we couldn't even try to put him in it. So we never got to use it! My husband and I took it in turns to hold him in the ergobaby carrier facing us. It's get very hot though so I'm not the biggest fan, but anything to help him sleep! I'm flying next week by myself with baby and he's now 15 months and I think he's going to climb out of the bassinet! lol - I think it's still worth getting though I think because those bulkhead seats have quite a lot of space. I wish I could bring a pillow but I think it will be too much to carry. I might try an inflatable one. I am definitely going to get those Zarbee's melatonin in case of meltdown, and Benadryl to pack. Did you try the melatonin on your baby before you left, or was the plane the first time? and how did you get him to eat the pill? Thank you! Edited: ahh it says most of the melatonin supplements are suitable for 3 years +. I might call my doctor and ask!
Thank you! Flying with kids can get so hard and not to mention the amount of thing we have to carry can get crazy! A trick for the pillow is getting one of those bags you can make flat. The ones you suck the air out which helps and you can fold it! I also have a video showing how to do the tent, I still use it now with my second baby! I also have another video for regular holds that included one you can lay him on you (cuddle hold) without a pillow you can try. Just a comment but they didn't let us use the bassinet for my son at 15 months since he didn't fit to their rules(laying down without folding his legs) so just double check with the airline so you come with something extra just in case. The melatonin I did ask my dr. I have two drs. One pro meds one no meds so one said yes and my husband and I made the choice to give him half and honestly went great. I suggest to double check with yours and you and your husband can decide. The pills taste like grape so he thought it was candy lol! You can always mix it in eith his favorite candy. Or they do sell gummies. Have an amazing and safe flight! Please let me know if you have any other questions! Hope this helped! 😁
The youngest I've given my two boys was 15 month and it was half of the pill not the full thing. I'm not a doctor so please keep that in mind. I'm just sharing my experience and my doctors approvals.
Great video! The wrap is genius!!! I didn’t think of it and was worried about holding my baby for so many hours and not being able to rest!! I’ll definitely give it a try!
Thank you! I live on an island and travel so much to visit fam that I needed something to help me and this really works! If you have any questions let me know! I also have a video on how to wrap this hold 😁 Safe travels!
Thanks for such an informative video! We’re taking an 18 hour flight with our 27 months old soon and this is super helpful! May I ask if I can use the Zarbee’s melatonin siro instead of pills/gummies? Coz I can’t find the pills and gummies one in my country and it takes too long to order from Amazon. Thank you!
I'm so glad this helped! I'm not a doctor by all means, but as long as it's for children you should be fine. I just used children melatonin two months ago with my youngest who's 16 months for a 8 hr flight approved by his pediatrician. He weights the age of a 2 yr old lol but it worked very well and slept the whole flight! Hope this helps! Safe travels!
How do you give them the pill to sleep. I have a 18 month old and she has never swallowed a pill. Do you dilute it in water? Or should I go with gummies?
My kids think it's candy since it's grape flavored and they just take it but if not gummies work too. It's just for us living on an island and having any types of gummies with the heat get stuck and become one lol! Unless they're in the fridge but then they're hard so I do pill form instead. They last longer for us and my kids don't mind them. Hope this helps! 😁
Of courses! Well there is the boxed milk( like juice boxes) that are the easiest to travel with since you can take those on the plane and under in your check in for further use in other countries. All countries have different tasting milk and if your child might like a certain taste you should take some with you so you don't have to struggle once there and on the way back. They have regular milk, flavors and even almond milk too. They sell them in big boxes and small juice box styles with straws. You can always give some to you child before you travel to to test them out. I would pour them out into his btl of the plane and it make it easier for the lugging around being boxed. If you don't want to use those you can talk regular milk but it will get messy. I used to take it in a thermo and regardless if it's powered, boxed or regular milk TSA will always pull you aside and check you/it. Only one parent and its more of a padding and wiping the container where the milk is. Always go with enough time regardless since you never know how long lines are. The problem with this is keeping the milk cold enough and it not going bad so that's why I stopped doing this and started using the boxed milk..once I discovered they existed lol!! You can also try buying some from a restaurant at the airport but you risk them not having any and the exposure too. Hope this was helpful!
I’m travelling with BA and I will have a bassinet assigned to us on my flight. My daughter is quite small. How big was your son that he didn’t fit in the bassinet?
I can't remember specific height but he fit great with his knees a bit bend but they didn't allow that. They said he would have to lay down fully without bending his knees. I also think it might be depending on you flight attendant. I've been flying for many years and every flight is different. Some flight attendants are more ok with certain things and others go more by the book, so just depends. If I had to guess I would say this is more for small babies like newborn to maybe shy of a year old. My son was about 13 months and he was an average size child. Unlike my second son who was born 9lbs! He's a big boy and wouldn't fit in that past 4 months. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Hii!!! It's a great video and very helpful! I just have a question about the melatonin, how much did you give him? A quarter or half a pill? I saw melatonin for kids and they say are for ages 3 and up. And my boy is 1 year and 8 months, but we'll need something to help him to get some sleep (long flight). Thanks in advance!!
Hi!! My son was 1 and 3 months at the time and I gave him half a pill which worked great. Just make sure you give it to them 30min to 1 hr before you need them to fall asleep. I still use it to fly and I've notice if I give it to him before I board to have him sleeping in my wrap once I'm on the plane is easier than trying to knock him out on the flight itself. He's become more of a sleep fighter lol so this is working better now. Before he would just fall asleep so giving it to him on the plan was easier. You can base it on what works for you and your child. Just another tip that hope works for you! 😁 Also my Dr always tells me to go based on weight not age when giving my child medication so it can work for him properly. Didn't think of it until she told me but my son has always weighted into the older kids bracket. It definitely made me feel much better when giving it to him as well. Let me know if you need anything else and have a safe trip!!
@@islandparenting8259 thanks a looot for answering so fast!! We are gonna give it a try, hopefully will work great on him! Once more, great video, VERY helpful ! 👍 😊🥰
I'm so sorry for the delay!! Hope this gets to you on time! I have another video on how to make it th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps!!
A sling has a built in loop I believe so not sure how much fabric you get with that. As for a wrap it is a long piece of fabric you can use in many different ways to wrap you baby and in this case wrap to make this tent like hold. I have a few videos on my Channel on how to make this hold specifically as well as a review on the wrap itself and also one with different hold you can use with it. I've never tried a sling but I know for experience my wrap has grown with both my boys and I love it! Takes a minute to get use to for sure but so worth it! Hope this helped 😁
Thank you! It's really super helpful when traveling with a lap toddler! I've never tried it with anything else but a wrap is technically just a long piece of fabric. I know there's a lot of DIY versions. It just needs to be long enough to tie around you and give you room for your child to be comfortable 😁 Hope this helps!
Awesome video! We’re preparing for an international flight in a few months and this video was the most helpful I’ve watched so far! Great idea with a wrap, I will definitely try it, since we do co-sleeping and there is no way my little one will sleep in bassinet. I will consider melatonin as well, as she’s having hard time to fall asleep when stressed on the plane(( And why, god why I haven’t known about diaper changing pads earlier?! 😩 we used a blanket and a waterproof sheet over it and it was hell a lot of extra moves and bustle. Thank you so much for all the tips! 💜
I'm so happy this was helpful! I travel at least 2 times a year since we live on an island and we go visit our families. My husbands fam is in Europe so that's always the hardest flight. I know how crazy it can be traveling with a child and now we've just had another baby last month so more to learn and pass along! If you have any questions about anything let me know! I'm here to help! 😁
The tip with the wrap is so helpful! Is there anyway you could post a better description of how you tied it? Or a video of you doing that because it’s a little hard to tel exactly how you wrapped it just from the video
Thank you! Yes I do have a video posted on my channel on how to do wrap it. Here's the link just in case th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you have any questions! 😁
I had it on me. One part of the trip I took two ends and tied it and make a knot on the stroller. And another part of the trip I stuffed it underneath the stroller in the basket. And the last way I had it was stuffed in my carry on. You can put it in a vacuum seal bag for safety now a days with covid and all germ wise and it shrinks it. Hope this helped!
Not sure what exactly your referring to. Can you tell me what specifically? The milk? If so no TSA will need to pat one of the parents down and they'll let you thru.
At the time 1 and a half. I have worn him in my wrap up to 2 2 and a halfish and used this tent hold again shy before 2. Then I had to buy him his own ticket an moved on to a different approach. I currently use the same wrap and hold for my younger son who's 8 months now.
Wow, these are some of the best tips I've heard.
I'm glad I could help! 😁

Try to see if the airline can give you the size restrictions and size your child laying down without bending their knees.
@@islandparenting8259 thank you very much xx
You're welcome! Safe travels! 😁
Thank you so much!! Anything you need just let me know I'm here to help! 😁🥰
How do you make the tent wrap from scratch please. This is exactly the solution I’m looking for, but how do I do it? Please help
I'm so sorry for the delay!! Hope this gets to you on time! I have another video on how to make it th-cam.com/video/nwKs4-Cjfag/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps!!
Is the wrap thing is like baby sling ?
A sling has a built in loop I believe so not sure how much fabric you get with that. As for a wrap it is a long piece of fabric you can use in many different ways to wrap you baby and in this case wrap to make this tent like hold. I have a few videos on my Channel on how to make this hold specifically as well as a review on the wrap itself and also one with different hold you can use with it. I've never tried a sling but I know for experience my wrap has grown with both my boys and I love it! Takes a minute to get use to for sure but so worth it! Hope this helped 😁
Love the idea of wrapping baby to sleep. I personally don’t own a wrap, Would it be possible to use something else instead?
I will consider melatonin as well, as she’s having hard time to fall asleep when stressed on the plane((
And why, god why I haven’t known about diaper changing pads earlier?!

Done subscribe very helpful
I'm so happy it was helpful! 😁
Thank you!
How did you pack the pillow ?
I had it on me. One part of the trip I took two ends and tied it and make a knot on the stroller. And another part of the trip I stuffed it underneath the stroller in the basket. And the last way I had it was stuffed in my carry on. You can put it in a vacuum seal bag for safety now a days with covid and all germ wise and it shrinks it. Hope this helped!
They will not take it? At the airport?
Not sure what exactly your referring to. Can you tell me what specifically? The milk? If so no TSA will need to pat one of the parents down and they'll let you thru.
they usually take any liquids (water,juice..etc)
I've been able to pass liquids before with my child but they do test it and pat me down which is part of the process 😊
How old was your toddler?
At the time 1 and a half. I have worn him in my wrap up to 2 2 and a halfish and used this tent hold again shy before 2. Then I had to buy him his own ticket an moved on to a different approach. I currently use the same wrap and hold for my younger son who's 8 months now.
You beautiful. Just came across your channel
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the videos 😊
