    As an MFT/art therapy student, I really appreciate this field and how it's pushing for multicultural competency. Being culturally considerate and sensitive plays a huge role in obtaining strong client-therapist trust.

    "Transference is generally considered negative..." positive transferance can facilitate treatment when the patient sees the therapist similarly to a positive attachment figure from their past.

      Thank you for adding that detail. It's hard to cover so much amazing history in so little time. I believe I do a better job with crediting individuals in the actual textbook.

    Hello Diane,
    So is from my understanding is that in the field or area of psychodynmic and psychoanalysis . Is where the therapist or psychotherapist is only self. The therapist have to go through training of themseves first to better understand and better interpret insight of their clients? Is it where the threapist listen ONLY while observing the client non verbal communication's as well to listening what is being said? And help client understand his/ herself better? As I was teading ccx and listening to you. You stated about that its a one person communication NOT two persons communicating.

    Would it be fair to call Robert Langs MD (RIP Dr Langs) "self-processing" part of a psychodynamic business consulting or coaching practice?

    How should one cite or reference this video and its content.

    • @fredrik7922
      @fredrik7922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn´t. Reference the actual books and scientific papers behind this TH-cam video.

    • @deirforb
      @deirforb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not necessary to go back to the references Dr. Gehart utilized. Because that would mean you'd then go back to the references those references utilized etc., etc. Just check a style book such as APA to reference the video properly.

    Are therapists obligated to share therapy approach and any diagnosis made? I wonder how many therapists are using psychodynamic approaches without proper training and without consent from the client?

    • @DianeRGehartPhD
      @DianeRGehartPhD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is no legal obligation for telling a client your orientation, but I would consider it an ethical requirement (not all may agree). In terms of diagnosis, this is generally considered legally required information, unless the therapist can argue/document some sort of safety or other really extreme or unusual circumstance...but that would be very, very rare and exceptional.
