    Disc Golf World, I appreciate you posting these clips. Of course not everyone is going to agree with my takes. My post got made about me against Mcbeth, I used the most popular player ever as a example, just to point out what I think is a problem. Not to call him out. I shouldn’t have used a guarantee in my take because people change. Keep doing work my friend.

      Uli!!! I stumbled on this video at random and had no clue about the "drama" but from this video alone, I feel like the message you were trying to get across just wasn't done clearly and that since you used McBeth as an example in it...he took it as a diss or a slight. After hearing you talk on Jomez during coverage and other podcasts I don't believe you ment any ill will by saying what you did and only used McBeth as an example because he is the most well know Pro on tour(to die hards and normies) .
      I hope that whatever the case, you and Paul can reconcile and move past it. I look forward to seeing you play next season and hope you land on more feature cards on Jomez.

    Paul is only a few players or only player who at this point, can play whatever and whenever he wants to play. He has other responsibilities in disc golf other than playing, like his foundation. To many, like me, he is the GOAT.

      it hurts me to admit but yes... see, i am that guy that bonds to the "underdog"... got into disc golf the year Paul beat like 19 year old Ricky W in sudden death for worlds... so to me Ricky was immediately "my guy" and Paul was the establish brute to over come... years later Ricky W is still the guy I want to win and Paul was not "surpassed"... McBeast is disc golf, he is the GOAT until someone can come along and put a dozen years together like he did (and he is still so good even though really into charity and the business side he will still win a few more majors down the road)

    McBeth won this exchange, for sure, in my opinion. I'm glad he weighed in, since it's nice to hear what he actually thinks rather than speculation.

    • @willrichtor
      @willrichtor 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the only way to say McBeth won this exchange is to discount what Uli said as a lie. Do you think Uli lied? McBeth's entire argument is that what was said wasn't true, but he didn't even address the fact that Uli said he was quoting a conversation between the two, NOT putting words in McBeth's mouth. So either Uli is right or he's a liar. Do you think he's lying?

    • @Riannacaswell1
      @Riannacaswell1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willrichtor I don't think Uli was lying, although it's possible he was mistaken when quoting someone from 8 years ago. Even if he was accurate though, the only thing he quoted was McBeth saying "he'd play a non-sanctioned or charity event before a C tier." The reason as to Paul would prefer that is speculation. Paul explained why he was upset about the C tier result on his record (tied for worst finish of the year when it was supposed to be a fun exhibition event).

    • @stitch438
      @stitch438 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willrichtor I think that if the point you're trying to make is based off some comment from 8 years ago, unless you have a way to prove whatever was said, it's no longer valid. It seems like a very desperate way to try to make a point.

Personally, I think he needs to peel away some of that focus on always having something to say and shift that energy over to finally becoming a consistent player worthy of the attention he gets. I think we get too caught up in ratings. Ratings are fun and I do think they have some practical uses. That being said, I honestly couldn't tell you what Mcbeast rating is or most any of the pros. Yet I think Paul Mcbeth is the greatest player of all time because he wins, and wins in biggest moments. Ratings don't equate greatness.

    McBeth wins for giving relevant context and making a cogent defence of his issue (being dragged into the disc golf basement because someone thinks he thinks something). Uli may have an opinion on a comment made by McBeth 8 years ago but to confidently use that comment to state what McBeth thinks, that is presumptive and as we heard from PM himself, it was incorrect.

  • @MountaindewM
    @MountaindewM 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I believe Paul did the tournament because of Rancho El Camino being involved in that C Tier? He has stated multiple times about his Latino heritage and supporting them and the such.
    In 2021 he played in a B Tier but it was The Battle for Bedford in Virginia. That is because one of his friends and at the time a co-owner with him at the time of Foundation Discs was TD.
    In 2020 he also played in that the same event a B tier. He played in another B Tier but this one was in Williamsburg, Virginia. I assume he must live close to this one was well and was during the off season. So this proves maybe slightly that he would play in lower tiers if it's close. Helps he won $700 for winning. To put that into perspective, he earns $1,000,000 a year. That is $19,230.76 a week. $700 is not worth it for someone making that much in 7 days doing nothing when he had to play 2 days to earn $350 a day.
    His next B tier was in 2018. His next was Wintertime Open in 2017 that he has gone to for years and Idlewild in 2017 which is a Elite Series/DGPT event now.
    This goes on but it seems like he was picky and choosy on where he went and if he played less than an A tier he had a good reason.
    Uli can use Chandler Fry as an example. He shot -19 at an event in Kenya and was only rated 1055. Granted it was 41 points above his rating. That is insane when ratings start to degrade in being useful. Granted the guy who took second, shot -14 and was rated 966. Even Zoey AnDyke shot -10 and Raven Klein shot -6. There are just some courses where you can shoot birdie or eagle on every hole and still not get a rating that might be deserved. Lets assume McBeth went there and shot -20 and got every hole and eagled both par 4s. That is what 1063?

The only problem with Worlds is the name and implication that it means you are some season champion like other sports. I think it’s fine being the biggest tournament of the year I think most people just can’t get over the name”Pro Worlds” and winning makes them a World Champion not a Pro Worlds Champion. Why not do what the pga tour does and establish a Q school? Then have the majors have their own set of qualifications similar to the way its done on the pga tour? When you make the pro tour your rating shouldnt matter for the rest of the year and your standing is based soley on finishes. There isnt enough money in disc currently to use tournament winnings so you would have to create a points system that would reward the top however many players with dgpt tour cards allowing those players to play in all dgpt events with those without a card getting sponsor exemptions or have to qualify the monday before the event. The silver series or whatever they are called now would serve as the feeder tour into the dgpt similar to how the korn ferry tour is for the pga.

    I'm not a pdga member, I think rankings are more inportant tha ratings because earlier this year a Japanese man was the highest rated player but he had never played against the best in the world. When he did play against the best he was no longer the highest rated player, so ratings don't tell the whole truth.

    Uli and Mcbeth made valid points. Uli brought up something in the past that probably was true but also doesnt carry as much weight to this debate or to a 2023 PMcB, lets say. McBeth defended his points well, even if he didnt really need to. Brodie? Made no points and has no historical sports relevance to be taken seriously. No thanks bud.

    Mcbeth seems to confirm that he in fact said he would play non sanctioned events over C tier events. I'm not sure anyone "won" this argument. Uli was making assertions based on outdated information from eight years ago. Mcbeth then disputes that it is true. Either what he said at the time was out of frustration, he changed his opinion since the comment was made, or maybe that was never intended to be a public comment, and he is refuting it for PR reasons. Ultimately it sounds like at least Uli and Brodie were stirring the pot. Mcbeth is either stirring with them, or ended up in the pot. It is all publicity for Discraft.

      The question is not he would rather play a non sanctioned event in 2015, it's that's the case. I think Uli was saying it's because of ratings, and McBeth is saying it's not.

      I understand that the context was in a discussion about ratings, but I have not seen the entire conversation. In the clip shown in this video, Uli may have implied, but did not say that Mcbeth would prefer non sanctioned events because of ratings. In addition, I find Mcbeths argument that he never cared about his ratings, only about being the best, a bit dubious. Ratings are not perfect, but are arguably the most accurate way to measure the best disc golfer. It is difficult for me to understand why he would care so much about an insignificant 3rd place in a single tournament, as to cause him to favor non sanctioned events. I admit though I don't see why the ratings change from that single event would matter much either to him. Having said all that, you make a valid point. It is possible that the context provided in this video did not show how explicitly Uli was linking ratings to Mcbeths hypothetical actions. It is also possible that for whatever reason Mcbeth genuinely never cared about ratings, but cared about placement stats. I'm not a world champ, I'm not even Uli lol. Honestly I like both Pauls, I kind of hope that Mcbeth is just feeding the controversy for all around publicity for team Discraft.

    Look love yall but that worlds take is ass. What are you supposed to do, not have a season-ending most important tournament? As you mentioned, whoever wins the WORLD SERIES for an American sport for example often changes. That's the point. Nobody is claiming them as the absolute world best. Worlds is important just like any other sports "world championship" is important. Not everyone is a follower of every game, but we all watch the superbowl
