- #SUEDE #SATURDAY NIGHT #BEAUTIFUL ONES
The official video for 'Saturday Night' by Suede,
Taken from their album 'Coming Up'. released on 14 October 1996, on Nude Records.
"Saturday Night" is the third single from the album.
The single continued the success of Suede's previous two hits by entering the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number six.
The video for the song was directed by Pedro Romhanyi, who previously made videos for the band's songs, "Animal Nitrate", and "Beautiful Ones".
The clip stars British actress Keeley Hawes. It was shot in the London Underground at a disused Piccadilly line platform at Aldwych station.
Aldwych station is notable as the only platform in London's underground network where filming is allowed.

Lyrics:
Today she's been working, she's been talking,
She's been smoking, its gonna be alright
Cos tonight we'll go dancing, we'll go laughing, we'll get car sick
And it'll be okay like everyone says, it'll be alright and ever so nice
We're going out tonight, out and about tonight
Oh whatever makes her happy on a Saturday night
Oh whatever makes her happy, whatever makes it alright
Today she's been sat there, sat there in a black chair,
Office furniture, but it'll be alright
Cos tonight we'll go drinking, we'll do silly things
And never let the winter in
And it'll be okay like everyone says, it'll be alright and ever so nice
We're going out tonight, out and about tonight.
Oh whatever makes her happy on a Saturday night
Oh whatever makes her happy, whatever makes it alright
...we'll go to freak shows and peepshows
We'll go to discos, casinos,
We'll go where people go and let go...
Oh whatever makes her happy on a Saturday night
Oh whatever makes her happy, whatever makes it alright
Oh whatever makes her happy on a Saturday night
Oh whatever makes her happy, whatever makes it alright
Suede are: Brett Anderson, Neil Codling, Simon Gilbert, Richard Oakes, and Mat Osman.
God I miss the 90's so much it hurts
Only Suede has the capacity to make me romanticise about commuting and public transportation.
Suede are on a par with Pulp, sheer brilliance. The noise from Oasis and Blur drowned them out. This song is timeless..
First time I heard this song, I was on a British Airways flight headed from Chicago to London. First thing I did in London was went to a Virgin music store and bought the Coming Up CD. I still love to pull it out and listen to it from front to end.
Why do Suede always make me cry? Honestly, I can't listen to them in public
Suede & The Smiths are my two favorite bands of all time
Suede at their finest: Elegant and timeless.
What a beautifully crafted gem of a song. So much fragility, tenderness and raw authenticity. Now I remember why I miss the 90s.
Well spotted! ha!
Just brilliant. The song and video clip are perfect at evoking the underlying desperation and sadness in all of our lives, which we often mask when we go out. I think the video works really well at displaying the different lives of the population - it makes you think about what their night has held for them. My favourite is the girl with headphones on looking pensively out the train window - possible to distract her from the reality of the events from that night. Love suede.
Love Suede, One of my favourite from them. " Coming Up" is one of the best album ever, made me dream about England, London...And now I m living there...
did you end up happy in London or did it disappoint?
steevo Nuissier Is it as good as in your dreams?
Gloria. U2

"Whatever makes her happy" -- excellent lyrics
Keeley Hawes! Love her, love the song
Coming Up is BY FAR their best album.
96년 감성이 전혀 촌스럽지않고 들을때마다 너무 좋네요..
Exquisite song from an underrated talent in the steps of T.S. Elliot, Noël Coward via Jagger & Bowie.... gorgeously life affirming yet riven with melancholy and introspect.....
Totally LOVE Suede!!! When I am listening to this song I always feel a bit sad...
Top top top quality group. I adore this. Sadly there's not many bands like this around now.
Have been loving this song since 1996. Amazing!
Suede the best Brit pop
Through the end of 1991 and early 1992, Suede received a number of favourable mentions in the music press, receiving slots at shows hosted by NME and attended by significant musical figures such as the former Smiths singer, Morrissey. A gig at the ULU in October 1991, which caught the attention of the media, was Frischmann's final gig.[21] John Mulvey of the NME, the journalist who first wrote about Suede was there. He said, "They had charm, aggression, and... if not exactly eroticism, then something a little bit dangerous and exciting
Keeley Hawes....enough said.

Indeed those were the days.. Time flies
This song.... Ahh so many memories
Great song. To my ears the chorus rings of Eric Clapton Wonderful Tonight.
+earthstick -- Sung by Bowie, though. ; ]
*****-- Perhaps, but it's an easy comparison to make if you were born before the Abercrombie and Aeropostale generation. ; ]
I'm pretty sure you got my drift, but for clarity, I was making a sarcastic comment about the younger set -- here in America, at least -- who grew up with Aeropostale/Abercrombie & Fitch/American Eagle/Hollister cultural influences.
Although I rattled off what are primarily clothing and fashion trendsetters, the essentially now-twenty-something generation that popularized these retailers in the greatest age of followers yet are the people who are likely too young to have any familiarity with Bowie and Clapton. My generation, give or take some years at either end, is comprised of people who probably, on average, know at least the names Oasis and Radiohead. They also have the historical perspective to easily understand how sonically similar this 'mashup' is to what Bowie and Clapton would sound like collaborating on a remix of Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight'. This has nothing to do with being an Aussie rather than a Brit or a Yankee. It's all about age and exposure, not geography. ; ]
earthstick bang on
earthstick It’s not just you. I’m surprise they weren’t sued.
