As mentioned in one of my previous videos, selecting an AVR for Home theater is very difficult as you cannot spot the difference easily like speakers, TVs and Projectors where the comparison between 2 or 3 products can either be heard or seen.
But today, I am going to compare the 3 AVRs which are competing against each other and confusing home theater buyers like you, as to which one should you BUY!
These 3 AV Receivers are - Denon X-2700H, Yamaha RX-A2A and Marantz SR-5015. All of them are 7ch AV Receivers with 8K Support and 3D Surround Format Support.
We are going to divide this comparison video in 3 segments -
    1. Specs Difference
    2. Back Panel Difference
    3. Live Demo Testing
I hope this video helps you find the Best 7.2ch AV Receiver for Home Theater.

One of the BEST videos on TH-cam for AVR comparison. Oddly, when the Marantz played the music the tempo got significantly faster….making the sound very thin. Currently, I own Marantz and love the warm sound quality and ease of power, but in this video I definitely prefer the Yamaha. Thanks for a GREAT video!

Great video! The Yamaha sounds alot better in my opinion (How an AVR/Processor sounds should be the major selling point in all reviews, it's a device for listening after all but unfortunately it's often mentioned last or not at all in favor of specs) ; more natural in sound. The Denon and Marantz sound artificial after hearing the Yamaha. I also agree with Yamaha's decision not to include legacy and extra unneeded inputs because the majority of consumers are not using them; it's a waste. How many avr owners would you presume are using more than one monitor out or multi channel pre-outs; not that many; only a niche few now a day. Also you have to take into account the avr buyers market for the last few years; those folks are using their avr mostly for movies, gaming and streaming devices. The majority in this generation are looking for future proofing with the latest hdmi standard; not optical, coax, pre-outs etc. The averaged avr consumer today don't even know what to do with some of this avr tech.

Hello friend, help me be calmer, yesterday I went to buy an amplifier, I was between the Denon I don't know if it's better than the Denon for movies and music, you say you had them in front of you, does the Denon sound better? I have a pair of Yamaha f51 front speakers, and another JBL Cinema 500, the subwoofer is a Klipsch rw-100, I would greatly appreciate your honest response.

What the... that IS the same sample on those receivers right, without changes in the source/player? Why does the Marantz sounds like you used a record player and set it to 72rpm instead of the 33 rpm it needs? The Denon sounds a bit better but not to much... The Yamaha fills the room with loads of bass, wow! Hey Suresh, the AV Receivers which has got a feature of 4K Pass Through and 4K upscale will be able to do the job. And as far as I know, its not just a restriction to Yamaha. But Yamaha receivers tend to have considerable drop off in wattage with all channels driven, thanks to protection circuitry. That is why they tend to rate their power with only 2 channels driven to attain a deceptive wattage spec.
Also, the Yamaha's HDMI 2.1 implementation on this generation of their receivers is very deficient. Even after the replacement HDMI 2.1 "upgrade", their lower end receivers -- including RXV6A and RXA2A -- are still limited to 24gbps and Yamaha has no intention of upgrading to 40gbps. So if you have Sony PS5, you should be okay with the Yamaha, but might have issues with the Xbox SX.
However, even the Denon 760H, (the new budget HDMI 2.1 king), has 3 HDMI 2.1 4k/120 Hz input ports at 40 gbps, along with the X1700H. Moreover, the slimline Marantz NR1711 apparently has a single HDMI 2.1 40gbps input.
Furthermore, Marantz and Denon (same company owned by Sound Corp. now) both have Audyssey Calibration XT 32. Any version of Audyssey tends to be seen as superior to Yamaha's YPAO settings.
Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Yamaha plus I own the RX V685. Yammies tend to be the most reliable and run coolest of this trio.
But the company has made a major mistake and likely lost a lot of consumers with their latest line of HDMI 2.1 limited home cinema amplifiers.

True, I use 2 HDMI switchers to switch 2 systems (PS5 and my Xbox SX) between two displays -- a 4k and a 1400P TV. Maybe, to simplify things, I need a receiver that is HDMI 2.1 40gbps input compatible with two HDMI 2.1 40gbps outs 😢

Very informative video. When it comes to AVRs, most imp parameters to check I guess is weight (which more or less tells about the power and size of the power transformer which is extremely imp as all discreet channels derive power from the same transformer), class of the amp, (AB / D), total wattage of the power supply. Watt per Channel is probably the most misleading of all parameters. An AVR rated at say 100 Watt/Channel would most likely only reach 40 W per Ch when all channels are being driven at high volumes.
I request you to kindly add the following points when reviewing AVRs in future:
    1. Failure rates of brands (not specific models). AVRs are extremely costly to get repaired. Only the HDMI board on these models would cost around Rs.30,000/- or more to be replaced outside warranty.
    2. After Sales Support available in India (how good / bad / timely support/ which cities, etc.). Availability of spare parts.
    3. Comparison of heat produced by the AVRs (how hot the AVR gets while being driven at a high volume)
Thanks for your efforts, once again.

I have an eight year old Yamaha RX A1020 that died on me. The audio slowly stopped working. I had expected a longer life than that for a $1000+ unit.. I was told that replacement parts are probably not available and it would cost me about $150 for someone to look at it. I was NOT pleased. That soured me on the Yamaha brand.
I understand that Denon is made by Marantz and I was told that purchasing a Marantz would probably give me a unit with a longer operating life. The SR-5015 was the unit I selected, but about 6% of user reviews indicate that Panasonic systems in the receiver cause many problems. The reviewers say that Marantz customer service is not very helpful, and do not stand behindtheir product. Would you recommend that I take a chance on the Marantz SR-5015, or is there a more dependable brand/Amp available?

    • @TanmayMehta

Hey Barry, that’s very unfortunate incident with your Yamaha AVR as it surely has got a better life expectancy. The Marantz model mentioned is decent, with good stability on the product except for the HDMI Boards which are little weak.
