    Exactly what I was seeking for a lesson and I love how versatile the bristles and ink are and give such variety of textures!
    Beautiful. Well done.

    This is just so beautifully made! I try it so many times but it still doesn't come out anywhere near as amazing. Yours looks so natural, like accidentally made almost. Maybe I'm trying to hard with mine? Anyways hope to one day be creating paintings just as nice!

    Thanks for the video, Henry. I've picked up a new technique, as well as a lesson to not throw those old brushes away. :D

    I am currently studying the concept of Chinese traditional landscape painting. I bought myself the Buddha Board to practice basic strokes. This video was very helpful , thank you for this great upload. I also found some traditional brushes that I picked up long ago when I went to the Traditional Chinese Art museum close to my city. I will practice hard!
    Have a great week Henry!

    Thank you for posting. As the painting revealed itself it literally came out of the ink mist. It was a great surprise to see just how thirsty the rice paper was compared to the paper variant. Thank you also for mentioning the school style and the originator. This will help with further research and aid understanding. Would it be possible in a future video to show us your materials and uses and perhaps some more methods? Thank you again.

    @MrHroark Yes, that's true there are many schools of art, both in landscape and flower and birds paintings, in my home town Nanjing(or Nanking), and even more artists were from Shaoxing, my father's hometown, in Zhejiang Province. Thank you!

    Ouch. I come across this just when i threw my old brushes away! Ahhhh. But this lesson was great. I'm new to painting and still exploring different techniques. This is by far my favourite. My forté is acrylic and i think i will give this a try with my acrylic paint by mixing water. Great video! Subscribed!

      Yes, we use the same sumi or Chinese ink for both calligraphy and painting.

    Thank you Henry for your videos, I just started a month ago to learn Chinese painting by myself. What is the difference between Xuan paper and wenzhou paper? Which kind of paint do we use for colors, watercolor paint? Thanks for your help. All the best to you and your family.

    • @blueheronarts
      @blueheronarts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wenzhou is made by machine so it is not recommended for painting (good for printing and mounting).

    我建议您讲中文或者有中文字幕。为什么呢?中国画本身就是中国艺术,用中文讲更容易理解精髓。就语言和艺术本身而言,个人认为,中文是高级复杂语言,是内敛的语言,英文稍差,是外扩类语言。而国画是就西画而言是高级艺术,因为是极其提炼的一种绘画。所以,您应该用高级语言解释高级艺术,对吧
