I didn't know about your podcast until this video. Listened to a whole bunch while making a lumber storage rack out in the shed this afternoon. A good listen! Thanks for the great content as always, Shannon.
Nice floor. When I built my shop I put in a standard framed wood floor, insulated, as I know what concrete floors are like from too many years of factory work. Great update Shannon, looking forward to another live session.
Congratulations on the new floor. Warmth and comfort are always welcome. Glad to hear you got over the cold/flu for the year. It laid me and the household up for week - no fun. Looking forward to the next video. - Annie.
Yup, my Woodtalk T-Shirt just shipped. Definitely a help on body health to have fatigue mats. I stand on concrete all day as a mechanic and then evenings in the woodshop, I also had to add comfort insoles into my shoes to, much better.
Floor looks great! Keep a couple of 2x2 sheets masonite/hardboard near the planer to move it over the rubber floor? Not sure if that 1/8 of an inch would be too much of a pain for the planer to move over or not but may be a solution for you to fill in under the planer and combat that OCD I know is kicking in! 😁 Love the channel. Cheers!
Silly question, newbie wood worker, I have a 3 car garage that wife’s letting me use two, lol... cement floors, is there really a big difference in cement, or wood floors, or carpet or rubber mats? I have built any think in shop yet so I just have bare walls and uneven floors.
Why not use the large trash bag directly on the vacuum? If the bag is to weak, have someone who sews make you a cloth bag to go around it for strength. Add a velcro or zippered seam to get it off quick.
Can't you use the black plastic bag instead of the clear one since you're throwing it away anyways. I know you won't be able to see how full it is but you will be able to get used to that quite quickly. Just a thought.
ejfurniture it's a thought but those bags in particular are huge and I would have to hang the collector higher. Plus I fill up those bags with other scraps and shavings

Great idea with the changing of bags
Good stuff Shannon!
another good option = laminate flooring over dense carpet padding. Right amount of give and easy to sweep up.
Hey Shannon, how is this stuff holding up? I understand it's only intended to last for five years or so.
as far as I can tell its the same as the day I installed it...well not as clean. I haven't heard anything about it wearing out.
Any ESD concerns that you have had with these? Do they build up a lot of static?
not at all

no 1/8 would be fine. Not a bad idea
Hey Shannon! I was wondering how the floor has been holding out? Maybe an idea for Wood Talk episode?
It hasn't flown away yet, its still there and despite being a bit dirtier looks the same as when I installed it.

Does your Roubo bench move at all from the flexibility of rubber?
nope, not a bit. This is really firm stuff. Its the same thing used on gym floors

Is there any website to order some of these floormats ?
rubberflooringinc.com
Many thanks
clamp the bigger bag on the dust collector.
Frank Gatta that's what I was thinking lol
Stupid thought; Why can't you just use the contractor bag in place of the original bag?
hanksgavin because I much prefer being able to see how full it is with the clear bag.
