The more I hear about this car the more I want it. I found this review very informative and the amount of tech as standard will have other manufacturers worried 😍
Not gonna lie, really attracted to design of car, lengthy warranty too. Just concerned about depreciation which we won't really know till they've been here a few years. Holding off for now.
Most EV s are being sold and leased to businesses.Fifty percent plus of the EV s on Auto trader have done under 10,000 miles.Pre registered new ,under 100 miles, make up twenty five percent.
True, but as the sales price is so low you’d have to drive hundreds of thousands of miles to pay the same total cost as a comparable brand. I drove the larger brother (Exeed RX) which will be sold over here as Omoda C9 and I was blown away by the interior and tech. It’s much better looking and has an interior to rival a Range Rover. Oh, and it also has terrible MPG 😂
I currently have a year old Mazda CX-5 Exclusive-line with DAP. I will be changing in 2 years time. Have had a lot of problems with the CX-5. Mostly annoying stuff that takes ages to resolve. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System that doesn't identify which tyre the deflation is in. The infotainment screen is buggy. The Lane Keep Assist wants to crash you into vehicles on either side if you are in the middle lane of a motorway overtaking, it's quite aggressive and I don't know why I should've paid so much for inferior technology. Another thing is it looks posh and people keep crashing into it whilst parked up. Had one trying to claim I hit them and drove off when, it was the other way around. I have 24/7 surveillance recording any incidents. And it's dashcammed front and rear. As my local Mazda dealer sells the Omoda 5, I don't have far to go to swap over when the time comes. I have Chinese equipment and Japanese. But many forget that when the Japanese started out mimicking the British, they were just as unreliable at their beginnings. The Chinese get a poor rep unjustly and they have surpassed the Japanese in my eyes. It helps if you speak Japanese and Mandarin too. Especially if you want to import to the UK. This is the best review I have watched, it's a fair and honest opinion by you. Thank you.
I absolutely agree with you on this. I have been waiting for a review that isnt to salesy and this is just right. I would love to test drive this for myself.
MG/SAIC were the bottom placed car maker in the Which reliability survey. Chinese "quality" leaves plenty to be desired. They're the newbies with plenty to prove going forward. Think I'll stick with Japanese. Or Korean. Or German.
Looks amazing, I currently have a jeep renegade from Arnold Clark, 4 years left of hp payments and car be mine then I seriously want either the omoda 5 or the all new mg hs , Chinese cars are looking better than the German ones in my opinion an better value too, even if the omoda 5 is only 37mpg the money you save buying one would cover any extra fuel costs over years an years, greetings Fae morayshire in Scotland, really like this omoda 5 great looking wee SUV 👌💪👍🏴
Indeed, especially EV models which suffer in this respect. Couple that with an unknown Chinese badge and you don't have to be a genius to work out what will happen with residual values. The only reason people buy Chinese cars is because they're cheaper than established rivals. Because cheaper is always better in life isn't it?!!
I find it funny when people talk of residuals. With Chinese cars you may pay 10k less now. But then you will complain if the residual is 10k under in 3 years..
@@ArnoldClarkAutos Yes, only those with an extra few quid in their pocket… My point is for such a beautiful car, the inside just doesn’t suit it… If the interior of the 2023 Tucson with the integrated Dash and seating was in this, I’d give it a 100%
@ArnoldClarkAutos So when are AC going to match SE dealer offers I'm seeing on Autotrader for this car with £4K and £5K off? You don't have to of course, I'll just pay the train fare and still win out big time.
Ridiculous sized grill ( chinese tacky style ) and its very thirsty ££ if you dont go for the ev 5 . Whats positive is the extras and gimmicks for what you pay . I hope they sell enough to survive here in uk otherwise they will close before your long warranty ends.
I just test drove one in the weekend. Loved it so much that I bought one. Pick it up later this week. So excited!!!!
Amazing! Excellent choice. Hope you have many happy miles of driving.
Where do you get it fixed / serviced ?
I have had mine for almost a week now and I absolutely love it you will not be disappointed if you decide to buy one.
Excellent! Glad you're enjoying your new car.

Glad you found it helpful! Hope you get to own one soon.
Have to say best review I’ve seen
Thank you. That's great to hear! Really glad you enjoyed it.
Looks terrific. Good luck. Please keep us updated on your progress and triumphs.
Thanks! We surely shall.
I collect mine on the 9th . So excited ❤
That's very exciting!

No car depreciates well these days
Then lease one.
I bought my Noble version from Linwood....its fantastic...well put together car
Great to hear that you're enjoying your OMODA 5.

It looks amazing but shame the MPG is so bad.

This is half the price of a specced up Tiguan with a much better warranty, things are changing, VW can't turn out average products anymore
Very good looking car.would I buy it yes.
Looks great nice styling gig to look at one

Thanks for the comment, Andy! Glad you enjoyed the review. We'd love to hear what you think when you get a new OMODA 5.

@@DavidTHEGEARArnold Clark are a franchised Omoda dealer keen to sell these things and that comes across in this review!
Gonna get one lovely car
Hope you enjoy driving it!

35 miles to the gallon.. absolutely outrageous 😮
It is heavy with old school tech. I get more from my m340d,still looks great for the money though, our company has them as pool cars and they are great
As do most cars despite the manufacturers claims
So sad the UK is just an assembly plant for other foreign countries cars....
Good looking car btw
theyre different name in iran theyre pretty popular i wish they had a camera instead of traditional mirrors
Maybe in the next model.
Dread to think what the residual will be after 3 years.....
Well, you never know. The landscape could look very different by that point. There will a huge number of used EVs and possibly very different demand.

Show me a car that Has decent residuals. It's not a thing anymore
I find it funny when people talk of residuals. With Chinese cars you may pay 10k less now. But then you will complain if the residual is 10k under in 3 years..
If that bothers you, lease instead.
Everything about it looks great, but I can't get over the serious distrust of Chinese cars for multiple reasons.
Name your top 10?
It's a QashQai on steroids
The tank 700 and byd leopard 8 is closer to a range rover competitor
Lol range rover sport knock off
At half the price with 4 times the Tech.
Nice car… pity about the tacky seating!! Appealing to a teenage kid!!
Suspect very few teenagers will be buying one.

when the driver seat is in the correct position....the space behind is pretty much non-existent. one to avoid folks
Bizarre comment. Have you actually sat in one or are you 6’10” tall?
Just purchased omoda 5 comfort beautiful car inside and out but heavy on the fuel but you can't have everything
It's all about the balance of what you want and your lifestyle.
No thanks!
Okay! Hope you find some other cars you would like on our channel.
Good people are family
We live our lives a quarter mile at a time.
Chinese Range Rover hope it last longer and is more reliable than that.
My Auntie have a Range Rover and she said the car often have mechanical problems😂
No thanks.
Well, thank you for commenting. Hope you find a car that appeals to you.
Xpeng is better
Its a no from me, shocking MPG, get low 60's out of my petrol 1.6 Hyundai
Looks a lot of car from 25k, half the price of a specced up Tiguan....
Definitely worth a test drive!

Have you got one they are brilliant
I think people will buy on price...Dacia doing very well, people bought horrid Ford Escorts years ago
I have one...no more thirsty than my wife's Mokka...or my Volvo V40 that I traded. As for the grill it gets so many positive comments.
No different to a LandRover grill.
Looks similar to Indian tata Harrier😅
Nobody will buy this
Spoilers...people have bought this.
Why not?
Yep, and I'm one of them.
I just did - what an amazing car. Can’t fault it and the tech/value exceeds anything I’ve ever experienced before.
