    With a name like #Maserati, most would assume that seeing a person behind the wheel of one meant you bought something that was loud, fast, and just very different from the stale German offerings in the large luxury sedan segment. Unfortunately for Maserati, the #Quattroporte is one of those rare cars that is in desperate need of a full makeover. From its lackluster interior, awful ergonomics, somewhat noisy cabin, and dated design... It makes an otherwise nice looking car tough to recommend especially when you consider its over $100,000 starting price. Thankfully, an all-new version is on the way and we'd warn you to wait for the next generation model before taking one home.

      Doug Demuro can rant all he wants, it's not like sales for Maserati are going to drop because of that. People who buy Maserati are well aware of everything he's saying. And people who trash Maseratti are people who are not able to afford it, in most cases. Even Doug himself said while reviewing Ghibli (i think) that people are turning heads on the street, and that BMW and other rivals are better, but "they are not Maserati". His words.

      Both?

    • @apollosbrownies
      @apollosbrownies 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with that comparison is that both can be finicky in an infinite number of combinations. Coming from a ten, almost eleven-year-old Quattroporte, it has been one of the most enjoyable yet complicated vehicles to own. In contrast, my nineteen-year-old A6 has only age-related issues (wear and whatnot). Most of my German vehicles have been extremely straightforward to own, but I credit that to my selectivity when deciding on power trains, models, generations, etc.
      Regardless of what you get with Maserati, and indeed most Italian marques, there is a certain level of unknown in the ownership. My Quattroporte was mostly subject to electrical gremlins and had no real issues for the first 50,000 miles of its life, but the 4.2L V8 and its 4.7L brother we’re both subject to cam variator issues, which could cripple the engines if not addressed. The issue often presented itself around 40,000 to 50,000 miles, or soon thereafter, and it was regularly a $10,000 to $15,000 repair, as the front-mid-engine layout requires a complete tear down of the front of the vehicle and engine.
      Beyond that, both German and Italian have been fairly reliable for me, but Italian cars generally present larger issues when they do have them.

But they are very rewarding to drive, and they will still be a very different kind of beast than the new C8. I look forward to the C8 as well. All these comments are not from real owners. I bought the 2016 Model S and have been very reliable. I use this as my daily driver and I drive it as hard as my GSF. The rumors of reliability just gets perpetuated from the older models because so many of these stupid reviews keeps pushing that rumor which doesn't really affect the current 6th generation. It will probably won't last as long as my GSF but what rare exotic car actually do? A person buys this car for a reason, style, exclusivity, and fun driving experience. Things could be better in many areas but it isn't junk, it works fine. Although I will give one concession, don't buy it brand new. It's not worth it, wait about 1.5 to 2 years and for a price of an Infiniti you can have a fun and rare car to drive. Italians are known for the over priced styles, for example Versace fashion. You are buying the feel not the material or if its worth it.

    1) Shoot in the places without direct sun lights to avoid overexposure/ cameraman shadows
    2) Use DSLR with a long focus lens (70-200mm) to no observing cameraman's shirts / new balance sneakers
    3) Use slider track for really smooth movements. Gamble doesn't help so much here
    Without getting these bullets done it won't look cinematic. Nothing personal - I always skip intro but have a pleasure watching the rest.

      I haven’t yet ridden in a modern Quattroporte, but if they’re anything like the Skyhook-equipped models I’m familiar with, he may have a point. In the previous generation of Maserati models, the Skyhook Adaptive Suspension was an innovative, useful option, but was an unfortunate victim of early technologies; when greeted with smooth pavement and well-kept roads, Skyhook was a dream. The ride was composed, solid, and connected. But when confronted with broken pavement - many continuous bumps, ruts, and more, the suspension would try to overcompensate, resulting in a somewhat wallowing ride. It was never awful, but definitely strange at times. The chassis themselves were very well composed though, so imperfections were rarely transmitted to the cabins.

    You're super negative. When Fiat bought Chrysler, the quality of all Chrysler started to improve drastically.
    The only reason most people think it's a bad thing is because they think and you make it seem like Chrysler owns Maserati.
    It is the opposite Fiat owned Ferrari, Maserati first and then it bought Chrsyler Dodge after the recession 2009. The UConnect screen was first in Maserati before in a Chrysler.

      Wow I would never have known that. What people fail to realize is these high end cars set the trend then the smaller makers follow. Look at the back of all these new cars now. Where you think they got it from? They say the back looks like a camry and blah blah blah. But they don't know that the GT coupe had the original back before Audi took the same design. I love the brand, I got a chance to sit in one at a car show and got a chance to expericence it. I think they get a lot of hate for whatever reason. But people follow a trend.

    i have no idea what the hell maserati is doing recently. their gtc mc could get over 200k if equipped with some options and with a 0-60 acc of 4.9 sec... which is 0.1 sec SLOWER than a bmw 440i coupe as well as 0.3 sec slower than its "flagship" sedan quattroporte GTS. As an Italien supercar company, known for having the best sounding exhaust, they have to update the GT series first rather than building up a new SUV. It is rediculous that a Levante TROFEO had an 0-60 acc of 3.7 sec, why can't you just make a GTS car having that performance? I always favor maserati over porsche and used to own a GTS back in 2013 and sold in 2015. I took a look at the levante in the early 2017 and its just really disappointed me cuz as i expected a Italien supercar company will not make great SUVs. Finally, i end up buying a x6m instead and im happy with it. I really really wish they can revive the GTS as well as the quattroporte and kinda just give up the levante and maybe the ghibli. It is not a car meant to be driven my housewifes that take kids to school and shit.

    May I suggest few impovements during a review?

    - also I'd say would be great if in the last section of price you'd mentioned always how much the equal competition costs so that everyone could directly evaluate pros and cons in comparison.

    Most people do not have massaging chairs in their living room, so why do you need them in your car? There are way too many bells and whistles in automobiles these days. People lose focus as to what a car is supposed to be. Some people think cars are just storage bins for electronic junk and silly gadgets that nobody needs. Is any qualified driver too weak to open a trunk? Humans will evolve into spineless slugs if we continue have machines do everything for us.

    I've used that system extensively and it's one of the best. Fast, high resolution, great cameras, smart layout, touch Android auto and car play...
    People buy a car and then they're in that car for years.... It makes no sense to prefer a lesser system because it's not on some other car you'll never sit in again after you've finished shopping and made a choice. I just want these things to work fast and work well and look good. Seems like this system does all of that.

    • @apollosbrownies
      @apollosbrownies 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The modern Ghibli is actually quite a poor representation of the brand - I don’t mean that it is a bad car, just that it is more of an exception, an outlier in their history. I think that does show improvement, but I do not care for the modern Ghibli either.
      That aside, if you look at the aging GranTurismo, and the previous generation of vehicles from the early 2000’s, they are more in-line with the Maserati reputation of fun, connected driving, exclusivity, and all at the cost of reliability. My Tipo M139 QP is the absolute pinnacle of driving engagement, in my opinion, but its service history is not pretty.
      The Ghibli doesn’t have much to go wrong. It’s V6 engine is relatively low performing and low stress, and most of the technologies used in the vehicle have been given time to mature, where Maserati models of years past have been the unfortunate victims of being too quick to adopt and adapt (just look at the F1/DuoSelect/Cambiocorsa era).

    • @whispercars306

      This gen 6 QP GTS is a good car and not unreliable. The gps is easy to use and not crap like previous gen maserati's, the zf 8 speed is fast, (no clutch like the early cars), Leather looks high quality , car only weighs 1850kg, 530 hp v8 from ferrari. With ferrari ending supply of engines to maserati in 2022 the gen 6 is the one to have. RWD for added fun.
