They don't actually watch any of the movies except maybe in the first week, because they film an entire season over just a day or maybe a few. So they really can't discuss the plots
They shouldn't discuss complicated movies like the smurfts. Too complicated. I don't go to the movies to be confused, I get plenty of that IN MY WORK DAY!!!
Exactly! If I wanna get confused, i'll learn a book or something. All movies should be about we can switch our brain off for a coupla hours. I still gave that film 5 bags, but it was super hard to follow until the loose ends got all tied up at the end.
He gets some witty jabs in at Gregg from time to time, but I think Tim really shines as a movie critic. I couldn’t even count how many five bag films I’ve discovered through On Cinema!
He cant even read the actors names off the card. How would he read comedy cards for stand up? He’d have to do comedy with no net in order for him to have a shot
Oh shit, look, at 1:57 you can hear Tim just holding in a laugh, and then you can see him smiling still trying to hold it back when he gets into frame, at that brilliant joke that Gregg made. Another testament to the improv these guys do.
The lowest rated movies by Tim Heidecker are Snowden and Mister America, both with 0 bags of popcorn. But the lowest officially rated movie (because 0 bags is below the scale, and thus don't count) is Ant-Man with 1 bag of popcorn. He gave Zero Dark Thirty and Dark Skies both 3 bags of popcorn. He's given 22 movies a rating of 4 bags of popcorn (14 of those were in the first two seasons, but he quickly moved away from it). On the high end, he's given 15 movies a rating of 6 bags of popcorn, Furious 7 got 7 bags of popcorn, and the highest amount of popcorn was 10 bags given to both The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and Expendables 3. But anything higher than a 5 doesn't count, because 5 is the highest you can go. Those 18 movies should join with the other 121 that were rated by Tim as 5-baggers (which includes every movie he rated in Season X).
500 movies in 500 days? That's just crazy. There's just no way he's going to be able to do that. It's basically an impossible task that he's set for himself.
DOYLERULES69X Ive already done it haha. Senior year of college 2012 and into 2013, was basically single and had nothing else to do, SO every day I would watch atleast one film....Netflix made this possible along with HBO, Showtime, and Starz, also don't forget optimum....
Very nice touch showing such respect to the fine comedic actor Jonathan Winters, known for such work as Fish Police, Pound Puppies, Smurfs 2 and others.
Thanks On Cinema, I got my VCR copy of Jack Frost and have saved an absolute fortune in air-conditioner running costs. Best review show on the web, please keep it going.
''i'm gonna watch 500 movies in 500 days, its never been done before i think''..... i'm dying here, watched the whole oncinema playlist again....so underated...i give it 6 bags of popcorn easy
Well the scoring system only goes to five bags of popcorn so I'll give it five bags of popcorn and maybe two chattering teeth, because this series is a real hoot.
I love how Gregg says it’s unprofessional for Tim to review the movie based on a character leaving or staying when his entire review of Carrie was “I’m not gonna give away the ending” saying over and over how he didn’t want to ruin it for people when it obviously would be way better if you didn’t know there was a crazy ending
Good luck with the record attempt Gregg! My recommendation to you is City Slickers 2: The Legend Of Curly's Gold from 1994. It's a Western but with a lot of heart and it really makes you think what life was like in those days! It also stars Billy Crystal back doing what he does best!
Flat out the BEST Smurfs 2 review ever put to film, especially with Gregg being astute enough to mention how Smurfs 2 ties up a lot of loose ends, from Smurfs 1, together. I guess that's why he's a resident expert. No doubt that the scabs at Oscer Central overlooked Smurfs 2 for an award ( despite being twice the film Smurfs 1 was, hence the "2" in the title, not that i didn't love Smurfs 1 of course ). Tim is onto something here too, mentioning about the passing of Jonathan Winters helping to increase the chances of Smurfs 2 winning Oscer gold. More film makers might consider hiring actors on their last legs, in future to increase the possibility of a "sympathy vote" from the Hollywood board and having an extra chance at the Oscer spoils. Great Job Team OCATC !
I know we all sing praises about Gregg’s expertise, but I think we need to give Tim credit where credit’s due. He hit the nail right on the head with his analysis of Smurfs 2. It takes a seasoned cinema fan to catch the subtle references to the color blue in the Smurfs, as well as the way they say “Smurfs is this” and “Smurfs is that.”
"The upcoming project, a yet-untitled Smurfs musical, is set to be released on December 20, 2024. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation announced a partnership with the Smurf worldwide licensors holders earlier this year." Heads up Smurf-heads! You Only have roughly under two years to watch Smurfs 1-3 before Smurfs 4 comes out. Just giving the buffs out there some time to catch up if they missed out on these because I think Smurfs 4 will be the best one yet!
Jack Frost is the movie that popped in my head after seeing the first popcorn classic segment back in season 1, I feel like I just had my first born son
1:55 "Yeah, I thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up." Fuckin killed me LOL Hell, that delivery almost got Tim to break
Thanks Gregg, for letting us know what J.G. Levitt's character from "3rd Rock From the Sun" would look like if he was grown up and had an issue with vicodin.
Can also see Tim almost crack during the start of "500 movies in 500 days." I like to think Gregg didn't tell Tim about the specifics about it beforehand.
The funniest this is that the second 300 is a prequel so they're both kind of right like obviously you can have someone come back that's dead but he wouldn't be dead in the second one.
You know you're a big time film critic when you get to see a highly anticipated sequel like 300: Rise of an Empire eight months in advance! Great reviews, guys.
I want the popcorn classics theme song playing at my funeral on a loop for the feeling of nostalgia. Good luck Gregg. In the immortal words of comic genius roy Schniider 'you can do it' in a slightly Mexican style accent.
Jonathan Winters deserves an Oscar! And for what better role than his most critically acclaimed and well-known character, Grandpa Smurf. BTW.. is that a new haircut Tim?! LOL. Whatever you're doing, keep it up!!
I really gotta say I love this new sequel craze that's really sweeping Hollywood right now. it can only lead to more five-baggers so I gotta tell you I'm all for it! Keep em coming moviemakers!
The burp at 1:28 killed me. Also the shot of Gregg when he mentions how the actor's name sounds like a smurf's. So gleefully unaware of how offensive that is haha
Gregg: I think you should check out 'Summer School'. It's a wild comedy starring tv great Mark Harmon and Kirstie Alley. It's a classic summer fun movie. Good luck!
"it's a good movie."
"it's a bad movie."
this is the critical discourse i come here for.
Bad movie: 4/5
"People are gonna want to say goodbye to Jonathan Winters in a classy way." - Gregg Turkington almost losing it, on Smurfs 2
I love how in this season Tim just judges the movie based on the people in it.
I just realized that yesterday and it's fucking perfect hahaha
You start to wonder if this show is even serious. At least I know Gregg, and I know he isn't acting.
And blames his production crew if he doesn't recognize the names, as if they casted the movies.
They don't actually watch any of the movies except maybe in the first week, because they film an entire season over just a day or maybe a few. So they really can't discuss the plots
@ oh yeah, I forgot
Tim almost loses it when Gregg says he's glad to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up
looool I didnt catch that. he about cracked up
ur right! I can't imagine myself standing near to this without bursting into laughter.
Gregg needs all the support he can get for #500MoviesIn500 days! Please include a video response below and wish him luck AND suggest a movie or two!
I'm a little late to the game here, but I would recommend the movie, Dune. Classic five bag kind of film.
Wut?
Birdemic. 4 bagger. 5 if TC had been in it.
Seven psychopaths. Id give it 4 bags and joker playing card
henlo
So, a very un- , a very complicated st- *burps* story for smurfs to get involved with on this episode of smurfs.
They shouldn't discuss complicated movies like the smurfts. Too complicated. I don't go to the movies to be confused, I get plenty of that IN MY WORK DAY!!!
trueth
truth!
Exactly! If I wanna get confused, i'll learn a book or something. All movies should be about we can switch our brain off for a coupla hours. I still gave that film 5 bags, but it was super hard to follow until the loose ends got all tied up at the end.
"5 bags of popcorn and 5 blue popsicles cause that's what smurfs would eat."
"......Typical"
Nobody in comedy can take so little and turn it into so much like Tim Heidecker. He is a brilliant mind and vastly underappreciated.

Johnny Natrium #rare
Nice find
Wow, well-spotted!
This is what I watch this show for. To see where they almost loose it
You can hear it during the popcorn classic as well, clearly Tim almost breaking.
i liked the first 'murfs a lot
Seeya tonight, Murf.
Remember to bring RiDgEdChiPs
I disliked the first 'murfs a lot
I like how even a "bad movie" gets 4 bags of popcorn.
Rockmonanov tim destroyed jack reacher
Jack reacher was his favorite film
"Ant Man" only got 1 bag of popcorn.
The lowest rated movies by Tim Heidecker are Snowden and Mister America, both with 0 bags of popcorn. @@TimThomason jesus
I want to see the hours of cut footage of those guys chuckling at each other.
I agree with Gregg at 1:56 - I also thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends tied up in Smurfs 2.
Tim was surprisingly supportive of Gregg's world record attempt
How many years is that?
500 movies in 500 days? That's just crazy. There's just no way he's going to be able to do that. It's basically an impossible task that he's set for himself.
i hope u know this is a joke
A joke you say? Well I suppose that makes sense as nobody could really watch 500 movies in 500 days. Thanks for clearing that up.
DOYLERULES69X haha I feel like a dumbass right now
DOYLERULES69X Ive already done it haha. Senior year of college 2012 and into 2013, was basically single and had nothing else to do, SO every day I would watch atleast one film....Netflix made this possible along with HBO, Showtime, and Starz, also don't forget optimum....
I crunched the numbers. He’d half to watch approximately 1 movie every day for 500 day’s in a row.
@2:01 Tim's smirk @ "I thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up.."
+adjective He almost lost it
who the fuck timestamps a quote AFTER he just said it?
I think you can hear Tim giggle while Gregg is delivering that line. It's a great one!
wouldn't have caught this or the brilliance of Gregg's line if not for your comment; this is money
Mikel keytun
look at Tim’s little smile just after 1:56 , it’s so nice to have a movie tying up loose ends like that and making you feel good
1:54 "My review of it is four bags of popcorn."
3:13 "I give Smurfs 2 five bags of popcorn."
Which is it Tim?
+mmmTheMuffinMan 5 bagger.
1:31, perfect impression of Roger Ebert turning to face Gene on their old show. So funny.
Well spotted!
Gregg Turkington KILLS this one
Smurfs 2: "I thought it was interesting to see some of the loose ends from the first movie tied up." I was crying.
''i'm gonna watch 500 movies in 500 days, its never been done before i think''.....
i'm dying here, watched the whole oncinema playlist again....so underated...i give it 6 bags of popcorn easy
The rating really only goes to 5 though so I'm gonna give it 5 bags of popcorn and 1 cup of soda.
We're not in Kansas anymore todo.
I'm gonna give it 5 bags of Popcorn and 2 sodas becahse the most you can give is 5.
I'm gonna give it 5 bags of popcorn and 2 Oscers
Well the scoring system only goes to five bags of popcorn so I'll give it five bags of popcorn and maybe two chattering teeth, because this series is a real hoot.
I loved the first "murfs" a lot.
loved the whole blue thing
“Just like we knew when James dean died.” But James dean is still alive. He’s in Decker season 3.
5:45 The sort of contentious debate that makes On Cinema so informative and entertaining.
Ah, man. This movie had it all; action, drama, comedy, suspense and dance.
jonathan winters deserves a posthumous academy award for his role in Smurfs 2.
"It didn't have Harold Butler in it"
4:26
If only you knew, Tim.
!!!!!! I never noticed that.
5:31 I like how they both gave their ratings before Tim even read the movie summary. Switching it up!
I love how the rating system is completely meaningless.
This movie is horrible, 4 bags of 🍿!
This is a great movie, 4 bags of 🍿!
WHOA, TIM LAYIN' DOWN THE 4 BAG HAMMER?! i can't believe i sat through Smurfs before watching this.
Man, every episode Gregg's introduction immediately makes me burst into laughter
"Of course he passed away before it was re- he didn't get to go to the premiere party..."
Oh my god an Oscar for Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf... I can't even.. This is real comedy, guys, keep it up.
Tim's shock at 6:42 when Gregg announces his Guiness world record challenge lmao
Good luck with the record attempt Gregg! My recommendation to you is City Slickers 2: The Legend Of Curly's Gold from 1994. It's a Western but with a lot of heart and it really makes you think what life was like in those days! It also stars Billy Crystal back doing what he does best!
i love how tim says "fine" so seriously. He has gotten so good at jumbling his words up and is very burpy in this episode. What a geat show
+milk rust It's because of his blood clots! Have some respoct for his difficulties and health problems with his brain!
Flat out the BEST Smurfs 2 review ever put to film, especially with Gregg being astute enough to mention how Smurfs 2 ties up a lot of loose ends, from Smurfs 1, together. That face Tim makes after saying 'Anton Yelchin'. So very funny
"It´s a good movie."
"It´s a bad movie"
4:56 that look of utter and complete loathing lmao
Tim trying not to laugh at 2:00 when Gregg says it was good to have some of the loose ends of Smurfs tied up lol
4:30 bit of an unintentional error there, we actually know now that James Dean did not in fact die
the way they say "smurfs is this", and "smurfs is that"
Huge kudos to Tim for reading all those names in each episode without even knowing who those people are
"The upcoming project, a yet-untitled Smurfs musical, is set to be released on December 20, 2024. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation announced a partnership with the Smurf worldwide licensors holders earlier this year."

Fuckin killed me LOL Hell, that delivery almost got Tim to break
4:26 - first mention of the passing of james dean
Just a taste of what’s to come
"Michael Keaton is 'The World's Coolest Dad'", lol!
"Like James Dean died" -Tim foreshadowing for Decker vs. Dracula
And nor had anyone heard of Chewbacca, before the stars wars movies made him a household name
Thanks Gregg, for letting us know what J.G. Levitt's character from "3rd Rock From the Sun" would look like if he was grown up and had an issue with vicodin.
“And dance” always makes me laugh even though I know it’s coming😂
Lmao "If you want to see a positve Star Wars movie"
Can also see Tim almost crack during the start of "500 movies in 500 days." I like to think Gregg didn't tell Tim about the specifics about it beforehand.
"Harold Butler", I'm dying, hahaha
and dance!
Paul Shannon That friggin kills me! the cringe statement of the century.
A very complicated story for Smurfs to get involved in this episode of smurfs
most of the comment sections across youtube are very toxic. But this place... this place right here is special.
Good point. ;)
My air conditioner broke, but I was able to watch my vhs copy of Jack Frost to cool down. Thanks for the tip Gregg!
The funniest this is that the second 300 is a prequel so they're both kind of right like obviously you can have someone come back that's dead but he wouldn't be dead in the second one.
“Zexus” LMFAO 😂
his face after mentioning anton yelchin. relevant
i just realized Tim Hiedecker looks like a Bart Simpson
THE Gregg Turkington.
I was actually afraid for the wellbeing of Gregg at 4:54 the way Tim looks at him he looks like he was about to gouge Gregg’s eyes out
i like they say bags of popcorn but show buckets, keeps ya on your toes
You know you're a big time film critic when you get to see a highly anticipated sequel like 300: Rise of an Empire eight months in advance! Great reviews, guys.
tim's face when he reads anton yelchin's name
i love the first murfs a lot
"Sounds like a Smurf name, doesn't it?"
"Yes."
“Wish me luck, cheer me on”
This man is unstoppable.
how many years is that?” still gets me. damnit 😅😂😅
I give it 5 bags of popcorn and 300 little uh... bits of uh... caramel corn
*popopoppopopopopopopopopopopopop*
I want the popcorn classics theme song playing at my funeral on a loop for the feeling of nostalgia. Good luck Gregg. In the immortal words of comic genius roy Schniider 'you can do it' in a slightly Mexican style accent.
Full support to Gregg for breaking that record! We believe in you!
Tim showing his incompetence as a host, giving two different ratings for Smurfs 2
“If you wanna see a POSITIVE Star Wars movie or a positive star power movie go see Smurfs 2”
300 Rise of an Empire just came out, and this video got posted last year... What?
Jonathan Winters deserves an Oscar! And for what better role than his most critically acclaimed and well-known character, Grandpa Smurf.
BTW.. is that a new haircut Tim?! LOL. Whatever you're doing, keep it up!!
@0:34 What even is that sound?
"Hey guys, how are you doing?"
Tim: "fine"
One of the top muffins of this whole shitang.
>144p
Well, that's Cinco Cube quality for you.
Hey Guys head on over to RedBubble. Com to purchase our On Cinema At The Cinema T-Shirt!
I really gotta say I love this new sequel craze that's really sweeping Hollywood right now. it can only lead to more five-baggers so I gotta tell you I'm all for it! Keep em coming moviemakers!
I think every story smurfs get involved with is a very complicated story. Tim liked that “loose ends” quip from Gregg. Oh the absurdity!
Smurfs is this and Smurfs is that
“I mean anytime someone dies it’s not beneficial”
The burp at 1:28 killed me. Also the shot of Gregg when he mentions how the actor's name sounds like a smurf's. So gleefully unaware of how offensive that is haha
I agree with Gregg. 300: Rise of an Empire has a chance to become the most beloved movie of all time.
lol smurfs 2 and 300 2 are referd to as a embarrassment of riches. tim hidecker is so great at this type of thing
Gregg: I think you should check out 'Summer School'. It's a wild comedy starring tv great Mark Harmon and Kirstie Alley. It's a classic summer fun movie. Good luck!
good luck greg
