- Chhechu Puja is celebrated in different villages from Panchami to Purnima along with the festival of Sonam lhosar according to the lunar calendar.
At the beginning of Chechu, it is customary to celebrate after reading the 16 books of the Holy Book of Religious Significance (Hume) for five days. In some of the villages of Hyolmo, it is still customary to recite Hume a few months ago.
According to mythological Buddhist scriptures, Guru Rimpoche's tantric dance symbolizes a symbolic victory over demons.
According to Hyolmo , the specialty of Chechu is to take the Rudras on over power through Bajrayana Tantric practice, to bless them through the words of the Buddha, to purify the negative karma, and to liberate them.
Guru Rimpoche's symbolism as well as the masks of various deities are worn in religious worship and dance. This dance is called Bachhyam
