    Its so interesting how every artist that uses copics or markers, do the skin differently :)
    Realy nice drawing and great explaination!

      Yeah, it's very cool to see other artist's techniques! I really want to practice with my markers more to develop a better way of colouring the skin, because I feel like my technique isn't as detailed as I want it to be.
      Also, thank you! I appreciate it a lot :)

    I love your videos. I found the eyes in this one disturbing but this was done years ago and you have drawn a bazillion better eyes since then. These eyes remind me of Gowron on star trek, or the old British comedian Marti Feldman. The marker work is fabulous tho. Thanks again for all your help.

    Hi- I love how your painting came out! I’m new to alcohol markers and wondering if you could give me the color names of the markers you used. Thanks

    Please, I've noticed many artists using E04 for skin shadows--and while your coloring is definitely a step above the rest!--I was just wondering, isn't E04 totally saturated, and aren't shadows by their nature desaturated? Thank you, and your technique is very refined and impressed me!

    it looks sooo good! how many copics do you have? have you got any tips for which colours to buy? i love your way to draw so much!

    • @JelArts

      Thank you so much! According to people who counted my collection in my workstation video (haha), I have 104, but I recently got 3 more colours, so 107. If you have the money, I would definitely recommend getting a 36 pack to start (or even 72), and then building your collection from there. The first set I that I had was a 36 B ciao set (maybe 2 or 3 years ago), and from there I slowly built up my collection. If you'd rather buy each marker separately to space out the purchases, and I would recommend getting a variety of colours. Maybe get two or three from each colour family that can be blended together, as a start.
      If you're looking for specific colours, the E70s are very nice browns. BG13 & BG15 are beautiful teal colours. E04 is nice for dark skin shadows. Those are all my favourite copic colours, haha. I use them a lot.
      I hope this helped!

      She probably doesn’t have the refill for that marker.

    Wait, isn't the bottom of the lip meant to be darker? ^^

    • @JelArts
      @JelArts  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kawaii Dank Wafflator If the light source is coming from the top, the top lip will be darker as well as the area between the lips (since the top lip will cast a shadow on the bottom lip). Underneath the bottom lip will be a shadow and the middle of the lip will be lighter than the rest of it l, I believe. It really depends on the light source and how detailed you want the shading to be.

    well i came here for help bc i was drawing a character with a darker skintone and it came out very blotchy. you said this works for any skintone but you left a lot of white areas from what i could see..which means it wouldnt..

      Alyssa Shalyn This is late, but I’ve noticed many artists color skin or hair with a base color-usually a lighter color-and then use mid tones and shadows to shade the rest. I personally don’t like leaving areas white when it comes to paler skin so I have to play around with what colors I use and how I shade with them.
